This gem of a vintage theater is always a reliable distraction whenever we visit Old Forge, it is clean, reasonably inexpensive, well stocked consessessions wise and simply stuffed to the gills with old movie memorabilia. Stop buy to catch the latest hit film, or even a live magic show. All while downing ice cold drinks, candy, or hot buttery popcorn

Great local theater. Lots of memorabilia of the old films and projectors. There are only a couple showings at one time but is perfect for the area. Tickets are $7 and food is way cheaper in relation to a large movie theater. If you go for a matinee showing, tickets are only $6. 1 things to note, they are a cash only business.

Absolutely beautiful theater! Very well kept vintage theater. Great prices and the projectors and sound have been upgraded. This might be my favorite movie theater anywhere. Staff was very friendly and encouraged us to look around and see everything and the other theaters. Cannot wait to see our next movie here. Just know, cash only! (Also, movie pass says it can be used here but it is cash only.)

Wonderful place to watch a movie. I would recommend this movie theatre to anyone. Owners are amazing people and extremely friendly.

The best owners and place to see a movie in the ADKs. Great prices on tickets and always have new movies. No one around can compete.

We rounded up our adult children and made them come with us to check out the park. To be honest, this amusement park is far from it's prime. I'm sure back in the day when it first opened, it probably was so much more exciting and fun. The amusement park looks really run down. Some of the game stands were looking pretty sad. There were a lot of arcade type spots, some were nice and some needed some tlc. There were a few of the rides that were open and operating. Some were still down. The roller-coaster gives you some butterflies while riding it but it's still very tiny. It's about 8 bucks for a very fast ride. So, you're really paying for the core memory of the ride and not the ride itself. I can see this joint being fun for kids and teens. They don't know any better. The bright lights and arcade games is exciting for them. For my older kids who are in their early 20's, we were able to distract them with a few games for some tickets but the interest didn't last long. For a smaller amusement park, it does it's job. It would be a fun date night just to walk the beach, share a fry bread and ride the roller coaster. I'm happy I got to check it out with my little family tonight. It wasn't the most exciting but we got to share time and create some memories together hanging out at the amusement park tonight.

Looking for a time warp back to the 1960's? Sylvan Beach amusement park is for you. Looking for a…read moremodern, high-tech, well-kept spot? Move along as this isn't it. Thankfully for me and many others, the retro vibes are what we want and this place has it in spades! The roller coaster looks old and ready to buckle, but hey what's life without a little risk? The main arcade has skee-ball that is so old, there are no 100 pockets in the corners! I love it! Several games in the arcade are not working correctly, the staff knows it, but they are super friendly in spite of that. But the real reason to come to this amusement park is.... FASCINATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sylvan Beach is one of only five or six amusement parks left in the United States that still offer this PERFECT game which combines bingo, roll-a-ball derby, and skee-ball. Go watch a Youtube video or two on Fascination Bingo and you'll be as hooked as I am. Be the first to light up five slots in a row on your grid and win redemption tickets and bragging rights! They offer bonus tickets if you light a harder line (like the center row or the back row), or if you get a double or even triple bingo. There's room for 40 players, but half of the lanes don't work as these were constructed back in the early 1900s and are close to 100 years old - so if you don't snag a lane, watch a few rounds and jump onto one when someone gets up! 50 cents per game, can you beat the price? No, you can't. The two young ladies who operate the Fascination parlor are sassy and sweet, engaging to all guests young and old, roast you beautifully if your ball gets stuck, and genuinely love their job. Bring hydration to the Fascination Parlor - there is no air conditioning and you'll be jumping and celebrating your wins - it's a hot-yoga-esque workout! Sylvan Beach has a cute snack bar with reasonably priced food and ice cream, old-school midway games, an air-gun target shooting gallery, three arcades in total, bumper cars, bumper boats, and other fun things, but Fascination is why you want to go there, so enjoy it - I'll cry when this place closes and maybe I'll buy the lanes and open up my own parlor!

In 2024, we were on a Six Flags kick and hit up as many on the east coast as we could. One last stop was to Great Escape, another of the parks within driving distance of the Boston area. Our trips to these parks farther away usually end up being multiple days, so on this visit we did a Sat/Sun visit during spooky season. As you drive along I-87, you spot SFGE off to the right. What greets you though isn't the best looking park in the world because you've got to see front and center, one of the ugliest Arrow coasters known to man. This thing has seen better days, the best thing this place could do is tear it down and put something in that spot that has a wow factor. Like yesterday, just do it. Our GPS took us right up to the park when it was typed in, whoops. Totally our fault, but we had to turn around in a hotel right next door to the park to actually go to the lot entrance, which is on the other side of the road (the sign isn't super big and you get no warning as to when it's coming). Parking in Lot #2 wasn't paved, so it was really difficult for our two kid stroller to navigate, I can't imagine how someone with a wheelchair gets around in there. Pave this next time, please. I continue to mention the two day stay, because one wasn't really pleasant at all while the other was a dream. And yes, when I say that I mean the size of the crowd. Too many unchaperoned teens running around on Saturday not really caring who they might run into or what they were saying around small kids. Sunday was nothing like that and most rides were a walk-on. The park itself is relatively clean, especially compared to its Six peers. It's probably that time of year, but why must you close down what amounts to big portion of the front of the park? I counted 6-7 rides closed the first day, including some kid rides that they were disappointed they wouldn't be getting on. They are trying to compete by adding the likes of Bobcat, the new and possibly the best entry from The Gravity Group. Find something with a small footprint like Bobcat to again, welcome people to the park, not one that your grandparents enjoyed in the 80's. That thing looks far from being any kind of "demon". The carry over items from when it was Storytown are a lot of fun, even if some of them look a bit dated. I'm just glad they decided to keep this decor, from the castle now flowing with rivers of blood for Halloween to the tiny storefronts all kids up to the age of 7 will enjoy. You can also see some of the items from the olden days on the train ride around the park. We got a meal deal for the day, where you can purchase a meal or snack every 90 minutes. As long as you get there early, this is super worth it. But what we didn't plan on was waiting in line 25 minutes to get dinner so this can hurt the timing of it all and you might miss out on a last snack at the end of your day. The nachos were stellar, the pizza I give a 4.2 on the Portnoy scale, and the chicken tenders were you know, tenders. It's amusement park food but at least none of it made us sick to go on rides. The next day we had a treat of fried dough which was super fresh and soft. Staff was hit or miss, 90% of them like most places, were helpful and nice...even if they can be tough to find beyond those working rides at times if you have questions. We ran into a few that could have been having a bad day, it can't be an easy job trying to watch out for the safety of teenage idiots all day. It's not the best Six Flags, refurbishments suck when you hope they wait until after October ends and its all closed until the spring. Some of it still needs an upgrade but overall, we enjoyed ourselves. There is still work to be done and I hope SF and the new corporate structure will continue giving this park the time and money it deserves for what is a pretty rural community. But it was still enjoyable enough to get us back some day, as long as things can remain open and staffed.

Not worth it Under new ownership and boy! does it show. 80%…read moreof the rides were not in operation and the 20% that were running were malfunctioning. Half of the attractions were down / out of service. Minimal staff to help out. My kids had more fun exploring the mall than visiting this place. We did the rope thing they have and at one point both my kids (9, 7) were on the same obstacle. The young lady working it yelled at my kids "only one at time" in such a rude manner it made my daughter cry and want to leave ASAP. No one told us that was a rule, would have appreciated knowing that before they yelled at my kids. Generally disorganized, a lot of things not working. Not worth the money and time spent. Would not recommend. My brother who lives in upstate and recommended it apologized for it being such a bad experience. On a plus they did have Astro Pops for sale which I loved as a kid and purchased for my children which they loved.
