Don't like to give a one star to a small business but I had a major ordeal here during the summer. Shortly, they overcharged us and didn't do half of the work we left to be done! Longer version: 1. VHS Tape- a feature on (80 min) had to be transfered on DVD, a MOV file and I said I will bring a drive to put it on. Got charged for the drive (they never "heard" I will bring mine), I actually returned and asked for money back. They never transfered it to DVD and insisted we never asked for it, but they charged us for it. Once we get back home, they didn't transfer the whole 80 min. feature, just 17 minutes. We asked if they checked the file, they said "Yes". No, they didn't, superficial work, asked for money back. 2. 5 DVD-s copies, they were done, but double charged than the price quoted on the phone! Once again, asked for money back. 3. A 35mm negative that they didn't develop well, but we paid for. 4. 2 prints out a 35 mm film, they only order that was OK. We also asked them to call ONLY after everything is done because we don't live close by to pick everything up! They didn't "hear" that either. They called when 1 item was done. Then, another, we ended up calling and they aren't on the same page in the store regarding orders! Maybe a better system needs to be put in place! They don't do a good job, superficial, they lie to your face, contradict you, aren't on the same page with your order, but double charge! We ended up getting all of the refunds, it was a hassle and a lot of driving back and forth, lots of wasted time and gas! I wish they would have done a good job instead! Avoid! I but few lenses here from used and new. I bought canon T8 from here. I bought only the body and making some adjustment I came back the next day and bought the lens I left. After few time throughout a whole year, owner and employee never said nothing that I still owe money. I was happy to buy another used lens when the owner said that I still owe money on another lens that supposedly I never paid. I showed my receipt and bank statements. The owner continue to say no. The money I put in for the used lens was put towards the owe lens. What a rip-off of my time and money. Never coming here again. I needed visa photos. I went to CVS but they couldn't do it to the required size in millimeters. I went to Cam. The guy took the photos I needed and printed them and used a ruler to cut them to size on his cutting board. Great price and we left. Then I discovered I misplaced my phone. I called them on my son's phone. My phone was there. We drove to get it back. I went to the country website to complete the visa application. They requested I upload the photos. So I took a photo of the photos with my phone then emailed them to my email address. Then I downloaded them to my desktop on my computer. I tried to upload the photos but they were rejected. "Too blue" says the website. It had to be a white background which it was. I guess all the transferring of the photos made the background a little blue. So I tried to whiten the photos. Rejected again because it sensed I was using a filter. A no no. So I decided to call Cam in hopes they had the original shots still in the camera and I could get them transferred directly to my jump stick. I was in luck. He hadn't deleted them yet. I went back and he did a quick transfer for me. He wouldn't take any more money for it. I thanked him and left. Two of the three photos uploaded perfectly but not the last one. It was rejected because it said the "face was covered". It wasn't my kid's bangs were on his forehead. So back to Cam with a comb and bottle of water. I poured water on my kid's head and combed his wet hair back off his forehead. Cam took the shot transferred it to my jump stick, printed and trimmed the photo. I insisted on paying for the reshoot. They said no they wanted to delivered three photos for the visas so no extra charge. I told them to charge me for at least the print of the shot . They relented and charged me only a couple of bucks. This photo worked like a charm and uploaded to the website. We now have three approved visa applications and are ready for our trip. Thanks to the great customer service at Cam. I highly recommend them! And I will be back for more visa photos. And my Christmas cards. They have a loyal customer in me! read more

I normally go to a shop in Glendale to get my 35 mm film developed and scanned but this time I decided to come to this one since it's closer to me then Glendale . However I was truly disappointed!! I asked the guy at the counter I needed to get developed and scanned into a digital file , I assumed it was all a one time fee . The guy didn't tell me otherwise and charged me double what the Glendale shop charges me . I also assumed it would take a day or two , a week later and their telling me over the phone that the scanning fee is extra and I can't pay over the phone I have to go back in and pay again to get it scanned . Very inconvenient and very messy process the only thing now that I will assume is that I ain't coming back to this shop to develop my film I'll take that longer drive to Glendale read more

Cam is so cool. He will tell you how to insert film into a camera and you'll have to do it in front of him. which is a fun learning experience. Cam has Dubble film! It's expensive but man, those effects are truly somethin else. They do developing however it takes a week which I don't mind because it's like "film shouldn't make you worry too much..." truth. Anyways I need to go here again because Cam said he will look at my older cameras to see if they need fixin. read more

I'm super grateful to find a closer place to me to develop film. I've been driving pretty far for it and this is conveniently in my city. I got some rolls developed today for the first time, but ended up paying under $40 for just two rolls. That's kinda expensive, but I figured it's because the city it's in. I think a closer to fair price is around $30 dollars for two, though I know there's a difference in pricing for b/w and color. I'll probably continue looking for a cheaper place, but for now this will do. read more

This store and this owner/manager/only person who works there is really sleazy. First, he sold me a used camera lens without ever telling me or even noting on the receipt that it was USED. Second, he told me it was free to send out my external hard drive to a data recovery service for a price quote. So I dropped off my external hard drive to Cam Photo. When I decided not to spend the $2,200 to recover only 4,000 photos worth of data, the owner/manager/worker at Cam Photo told me they have nothing to do with data recovery and that I have to deal with the data recovery company separately. But the data recovery company is trying to charge me for return shipping, and is holding my external hard drive hostage from me until I give them my credit card. Don't bother with this lame camera shop. The owner is not knowledgeable, and is a dishonest business man. read more

If you need a passport photo-- this is the place! Cam Photo & Imaging was recommended to me by a colleague, I'm finally taking the plunge and getting my first passport and was NOT looking forward to (what I thought was going to be) another terrible government ID photo-- I'm SO GLAD I went here. Cherie was friendly and put me at ease immediately and seriously, she takes a great passport photo. They have a mirror right there so you can have any last looks or make any adjustments- very convenient. It took three shots and I had something I was happy with. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes and when I was there (around 12:30ish) there was plenty of street parking. Really great experience! read more

About a year ago, some random guy tried to steal my DSLR camera but since i had the strap on, when yanked it fell and the lens broke. I have stopped my photography hobby ever since. I have checked out a few random camera places here and there and either they don't fix lenses or charge a ridiculously crazy amount to fix (as in I can by that lens 6 times). I was checking yelp for places that check and repair and found this shop. So far I like it, I came in a few days ago to ask for a quote. I was already running late, and couldn't find a parking spot just as they were closing, but the gentleman still let me in, checked out my lens and said that even though they don't fix it on site, I will get a free estimate and send it out. I filled out some paper work and it's all done. the lens shipped out. UPDATE: 2 Days later I had received a phone call saying my repair would cost $170, and after checking online prices ($450 for brand new lens, and $100-$200 used or refurbished), I decided to have my lens repaired as I have no idea what the condition of the used or refurbished lens would be and also how much extra tax and shipping expenses would be. After telling them I agree on having the repair, I got another phone call another 3 days later. the customer service and turnaround time here is great. I think I found my new ceram shop. read more

Very knowledgeable staff here. Art helped me out and answered all of my questions regarding backdrops and lighting. I'm a total rookie when it comes to photography and he helped walk me through all of my questions. You can't get this service when you shop online! I really appreciated his help and I enjoy doing business with local professionals instead of spending countless hours on the internet reading blogs and researching products. This is definitely a great store for the experienced professional as well as the novice (like me). Tips: Parking is tight around here so don't hesitate to park across the street. There are side streets too but they are usually packed. I recommend the other side of Glenoaks and crossing at the crosswalk. Don't jay walk because it's just too dangerous in this area. Pro: mom/pop shop, great if you need items last minute. Nice lady in the shop. Con: I had a bad experience. I only needed a replacement battery door ($20) and they offered a free camera check up so I said yes even though it's working and I was taking pictures with 1/2 a roll left. I took the 1/2 roll out to save it before sending the camera out. My camera (manual Vivitar) was "ready" and came back a few weeks later . The shutter doesn't work anymore (costs $85 to repair) and the replacement door wasn't even with my camera so I had to wait another few weeks for that since they didn't call. I got my camera today; useless. The guy couldn't answer our questions as to why my camera stopped working when it was perfectly fine before. He just said "All he can say is that that's what the repair man said." I know he just wanted me to leave and sign to release the camera. I don't wanna leave a bad review but that's what happened to me. My camera is now broken and I'm not going back to this place anymore. read more

UNFAIR! I used a Kodak photo printing kiosk. I uploaded 8 photos and had the machine print a receipt. I was supposed to go pay, and receive a code to type into the printer. THE MACHINE DOESN'T TELL YOU THE PRICES. So I go to the register and the employee tells me it's $28 dollars to print 8 5x7 photos on this Kodak kiosk. RIDICULOUS. So I say no thanks. Then he tells me an other employee started printing them. He forced me to pay. I just wanted to know the price because that's what the machine tells you to do. SO UNFAIR. They made me pay. Took one look at the photos which had printing errors on a few of them and trashed them. Really really unfair. read more

Not the biggest fan of this place. I like the idea of supporting a local business so I gave it two tries. The first time when I was very new into photography and asking some noob printing questions and asking for examples. They were pretty rude so I left. A few years have passed and I'm into film now. They were the only store around my work area that still sells film. They weren't rude this time but the prices were significantly higher than any other stores in LA for film so I didn't buy anything. I'll just save this place in my back pocket when I'm in a pinch. read more

The man behind the counter tried to upsell me on all sorts of stuff and I didn't appreciate the sales tactics. Upon picking up my prints + digital disc, I was disappointed to find out that for ONE ROLL of film developing/single set of prints the total cost was $38. This is a complete rip off and turned me off from ever returning to the store. I will drive over the hill to Freestyle next time I need to develop b&w film. read more

They have a great selection of camera gear, a really helpful staff and a fast development turn-around time. I recently picked up film photography as a hobby, and I wasn't sure what to purchase as I am an amateur but everyone here was so incredibly kind and knowledgeable it made it an awesome experience. I purchased a pristine Canon AE1, which has been amazing! I've definitely had a lot of fun learning to play around with it. I also recently tried their film developing services and omg, the quality is great (both in prints and on CD). My gf and I also had the pleasure of running into the ultimate GILF himself, John Stamos our first visit there. And let me tell ya, he STILL looks amazing... as youthful, and handsome as ever! After running from store to store looking for a ring light I FINALY come into cams which is ironically walking distance from my home. The second I walk in, what I've been looking for was the first thing I saw and it was as if the clouds opened, a light shined down on it and angels sang. The young man who helped me was very kind and patient and had no problem answering all my questions and even reassuring me I was picking the right one for the camera I planed on using. So, I just bought an old Canon AE-1 Program camera on eBay, and I am soooo excited! It's been over a decade since I used a film camera, and with the new digital age upon us, this type of older technology just makes me happier. I'm kind of over this whole push-button age already. I want nostalgia. I want real life. I want tangibility. So, when I won the auction, I was excited to find a local camera shop that would help me get reacquainted with manual cameras, and to perform any tune-ups. I called two other stores before calling Cam Photo, and Cam Photo instantly put me at ease. The other shops I spoke with seemed very quick to want to charge me almost $100 just to open it up and look at it. I could tell that if I went into those shops, they would just tell me my camera needs more work than it really does, and they were completely fine with charging an arm and a leg for it. Cam Photo was completely different over the phone. I trusted them immediately. And the price they quoted for opening it up and giving me a quick overview was a fraction of what the other stores quoted me. I can't wait to support this local Burbank business.
