If you ever had your passport photos taken at a drugstore before, you know it can be a first -world horror experience... I was a little skeptical about all of the positive reviews before coming in. But truth be told, this place is legit and Marvin is the man if you need your passport photo in a pinch. Got there after 3 pm and there were a couple people in line but I was in & out with new passport photos ready in under 10 mins - the efficiency! $18.60 for two photos. The photos turned out nicely - you can tell he has taken a lot of portraits professionally. He does repairs for cameras as well. Thanks again! Will return for sure. read more

After the debacle with my passport, I knew I had to take new shots. For once, I didn't hate my previous photo, but sadly, I would have to renew it eventually. I had a few photo places narrowed down that did these specific photos and after calling a bunch of them to get their rates/hours, I had narrowed it down to two. Photo Center was more central to what I know, so I finally made the trip over after attempting to do my hair for once. I street parked on Hayworth north of Beverly, a quick walk over. Once I entered, there was only one person in there (Marvin!) behind the counter. First I asked if a photo I had taken myself with the appropriate background would be considered and he said he could take a look. Right away, he said there wasn't enough lighting; that I could try to submit it, but it could be turned down. Since I figured this might happen, I decided to take new photos in the moment. Back in another room is the setup, and Marvin was easy to talk to, considering I despise having my photo taken. He took 3, and I was able to view all of them. All of them looked terrible (it was NOT him; it was all me) but I made a joke that the squiggly lines on the actual passport will probably help my image. As for the shop, it looks like something I would have gone in with my parents way back in the day. It's cool to see all of those old machines, and all the film, a lost art so to speak. It was nice to see a customer purchasing film as well, and as he asked the long-forgotten question of 'glossy or matte' prints, I had to smile. Total was under $20, getting the photos printed took less than five minutes, and now I'm one step closer to getting this new passport that I have been slacking off on. Marvin will also crack a clean joke here and there which is always fun. I wish I had more reasons to come by, but I told him most likely I'll see him in another ten years (unless I lose this passport...) Highly recommended, and glad I chose this place! read more

He was thorough and quick, and I was out of there is less than 10 minutes. 24.09 for two identical photos. This place is like stepping back in time. Like the 50's/60's . From the outside the front door was old looking and looked like the ones you see in a city like San Francisco. Stacks of Boxes of photo stuff everywhere. The owner was an older gentleman that looked like a character from a movie. A customer was leaving who looked like an actor but I couldn't remember who he was. Owner was really nice, gave me his professional opinion what I should do with my old picture. I came here to get passport photos, retake after having a really bad experience at Walgreens. Marvin is a pro! He has a set up with a tripod with proper lighting and tells you how to pose your head and even tells you to smile a little bit! It took only a few minutes and was such a pleasant experience, especially compared to the painful experience with awful lighting at Walgreens. He was kind and understanding and so efficient. I wanted to surprise my grandparents (for their anniversary) by repairing their kodak carousel and I called around desperately hoping someone could help me get it fixed in such a short time. Photo center was absolutely amazing - they made sure that it was fixed in time for their anniversary and when I picked it up even gave me some great tips on how to keep it operating better in the future! Wherever possible I try to patronize small local businesses and this is such a great one to support especially as its increasingly hard to find anywhere to get film developed that isn't Samy's (nothing against Samy's but they don't need my business). Sweetest man in the world! Backstory: i purchased a canon ae-1 camera and developed my first roll. It came out blank. I was shocked and decided to buy one more film to try before I decide to return it. I believe it was the owner but he told me to bring it back and he will show me how to properly use the camera. I went there last Saturday with my 5D Mark, 28-300mm lens, and 135mm soft focus lens. It turned out that the first two can't be fixed because of the lack of parts as Canon had stopped servicing them. However, he fixed the issue that I had with 135mm lens, which was the sticky focus ring. When I tried to pay him for that, he said it was free because it's nothing. He seemed to be a sincere and honest person. I will go there again if I have issues with my equipment, and I hope he will accept my payment next time. read more

I could not have like this place better. True mom and pop business. I went for U.S. passport photos and the service was fast, quality, fairly priced - totally painless! The photographer said he thought my picture was actually pretty nice and I agree! (He also let me see it before printing and do a retake when I wasn't in love with the first shot.)
