This restaurant opened in 1991, and there's a reason it's still open and going strong--it's really,…read morereally good! First, the restaurant's entrance is so inviting. The front is covered with various types of palm trees and tropical plants that make you feel like you are entering into a secret grove in the jungle. There are charming and quirky handmade decorations all over and all the tables are covered with tablecloths with a beach theme, further contributing to the relaxed yet classy feeling. The waiters are very friendly without being too familiar. The menu can be described as Brazilian fusion cuisine, with French and African influences. "Beijupirá" is a type of fish--in English, it is known as a cobia or black bonito. Not surprisingly, the restaurant does a lot of seafood, and does it well (you can get other things too if you're not into seafood). I've wanted to eat here for some time. They have a special plate that changes every year. This year, their special was called "BeijuHibisco", which was shrimp in a hibiscus sauce served with pineapple rice. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and I've never had a sauce quite like this one--it was very delicious. The rice was also cooked perfectly. We washed it down with a few beers and the check (with the tip) came to about $65! Our waiter explained everything about the dish and we didn't have to wait long either. I will definitely be coming back here again and I highly recommend that if you're anywhere near here that you should eat here. You will not be disappointed.
