Leslie must have seen me drooling while checking out the beef jerky, she asked me if I needed help, and I obliged. I sampled their Peppered and their Teriyaki, before I asked her what the most popular ones were. She suggested the Peppered Honey and the Sweet and Spicy- both were glorious! Those are the two we went with- the Peppered Honey had a nice peppered sweet balance and the Sweet and Spicy has a delicious kick of heat and the end. Leslie was so kind and took us around on a tour of all of their offerings, giving her personal suggestions and customer favorites. I appreciated that touch of customer service that is just non-existent and most grocery stores in their meat departments. Her service alone made us customers for life- thank you! Pro Tip: In talking with Leslie I mentioned that it was our first time there- she let us know that they serve a hot "Brat of the Day" and new customers get one on the house. We were serves the Beer Brat on a stick and it was delicious. So if you're a newbie, like me, mention it to a staff member when you check out for a meaty treat :)

We recently purchased a smoker and were so excited to smoke some meat on the upcoming weekend. We decided on buying meat from a butcher to smoke. Looked up nearby places on the internet, and the only one open near us was Top Choice Meats. They received great reviews, so we decided to give them a shot. They're located in a strip mall with plenty of parking available. We were greeted as we walked in (always a good sign). The inside was very clean and organized. The young lady who helped us was super helpful and knowledgeable with all questions asked. We decided on a brisket, but the one in the case was around 8 lbs, which was way too big for just the two of us. She offered to cut it in half. Perfect! We got home, made a rub, and smoked it for about 4 hrs on 250°. Once the internal temperature reached 195°, we removed it to let it rest for about an hour. We sliced it and wow, oh wow, it was outstanding! The flavor of the meat was amazing. We were very happy with our first smoke. Since our first visit was great, we came back this weekend for steak and brats! We would definitely recommend this butcher. We look forward to trying more cuts of meat in the future.

This is a small establishment and they staff for the night / crowd they expect... part of that algorithm is how many reservations they have. Yes, there may be empty tables but they also will seat you when they have the staff available to serve you. We'll even go farther to say, we personally prefer not being pushed out of our table so they can turn-and-burn for a tip. They take their time, they give you time to converse and enjoy. They aren't pushy, they move at a timed and rhythmic pace to allow for a good and enjoyable experience. Food is excellent, service is stellar, price is appropriate for the quality and ambiance. We ordered their Caesar salad, the 14 oz strip steak, and the crispy potatoes with monkey gland sauce along with a bottle of wine. We split everything since their prices were not really in our budget. The Caesar salad was a bit of a disappointment since it was very skimpy for the price. It also really did not meet our expectations of what we expected a Caesar salad to be. The Romaine lettuce was limp and not even torn into smaller pieces. The salad contained as many tomatoes as it had lettuce. There were not any croutons nor was there any anchovy, The dressing tasted too lemony. The cheese was not Parmesan, but some other soft cheese. Our steak was cooked to perfection and plenty big enough for us to split. The steak has been cut into strips to make it easier to divide between us. It was served with a creamy white sauce which was rich and tasty. The potatoes were not crispy as they were described on the menu, but soft as if they had only been steamed. The monkey gland sauce was not to our liking. (The name of the sauce was not even appetizing.) We didn't think the sauce paired well with the potatoes, so we left most of them on the serving plate. We asked for bread and were brought some wonderful bread containing Kalamata olives drizzled in olive oil and served with pepper sprinkled butter. It was absolutely delicious! Our server brought us some extra bread after we told her we did not care for the potatoes. She claimed that those potatoes were fried and crispy, but she did take them off of our bill. The service at Feast at 316 was excellent from start to finish. The ambience inside of the restaurant was really nice too. The brick walls were decorated with historic photos and relics. There are even old movie seats at the entrance of the restaurant which came from the Liberty Theater in Camas. It's an expensive place to eat since the menu items are Ala carte. We ordered the least expensive red wine on their wine list and it was $60, but it was a very nice Zinfindel! The salad and the potatoes did not live up to our expectations, but everything else did.

It is as though you take a step back in time, where customer service mattered and you have a butcher who cares. It doesn't matter if you get a greenhorn meat cutter or the Owner you treated the exact same with respect. They still use the take a number from the roll method. It doesn't matter the day, it doesn't matter how busy they are you are always treated like the only person in the market. Their breakfast sausage loose or in links is fantastic. I haven't found a better flavored sausage anywhere. Any of their smoked meats are to write home about. We like their soaked beef short ribs. Have your grill HOT and be ready to grill with those ribs. Their habanero BBQ sauce is delicious spicy good. If It's meats you want! it is meats Gartners delivers. I could go through each item in the cases from the ham to the brisket and tell you why each thing is better than the next!! I recently started vising a meat store by my work. I got some sausages. When I got home there was a pube in the package. In 30+ years of getting my meat at gartners I've never had anything extra wrapped with my meat.
