    Petting zoo event
    Josephine F.

This is a lovely library--not that big, but nice inside, and they have a big children's section upstairs. There are some toys that a little one can play with which is nice. I love that the library has story time once a week and fun events occasionally. I went to Cambrian branch with my 14 month old for a petting zoo event. The line was sooo long, and you only got to go in small groups and each group was able to spend just a few minutes actually petting the animals. I got to the library ten minutes before the event and then hung around in the children's section for too long. By the time we went outside to line up, a sizeable line had formed, and we waited around an hour to pet the animals. It is so nice that the library has such neat free events, but I would say definitely arrive early to those so you don't have to be stuck waiting for a long time or having to go home because the event is at capacity.

We love coming here. My little one enjoys the Giraffe hunts in the kids section. Great selection of books we've found a lot of new favorites here.

wonderful library with helpful staff if you need them. if you know what you need, you can be peacefully left alone and checkout is simply automated, along with east book drop when you just have a few at a time! Love this branch with the big window as you go upstairs. library staff is so friendly.

I love this library especially the children's area which is upstairs. They have touch screen computers, a dramatic play area and an area with manipulatives. When you go up the stairs there is a small section where there are thermal boards, funny mirrors and peg mazes. To use the computers you need to have a library card to log in and then you are allowed 30 minutes of screen time. The computers have games for the kids. The dramatic play area has a little shopping stand where you can ring up groceries and put them in baskets. There are also push vehicles and puppets. The library has both a self check out and returning items systems along with actual librarians.

I wasn't expecting to come here, I kinda stumbled on this branch on my way back from Cambrian Bowl, but when I went through those sliding doors, I was like, am I in Heaven? Yes, I'm aware ^ was a run-on sentence. Anyway, this Cambrian Branch Library is divine. It has two floors. On the bottom floor you've got the lucky day books, CDs and dvd's. On the top floor, you've got the computers, study rooms, children's section, and audiobooks. I found a great selection of J-pop and promptly checked them all out. There's also a drive-thru book return.

Cozy and quiet brach to get work done without too many distractions. Friendly staff. I wish they opened earlier on Mondays and Fridays.

The library is relatively new with several little rooms for meet ups etc. and a larger auditorium where they have book sales and classes/lectures. There's also a way to get discount tickets through the library, but I have never done it myself (I think you need to check in the first of the month or something). The library is clean and well kept, and the books have been in relatively good condition. The DVDs are often damaged, but I haven't found any circulation of DVDs that isn't like that. Library also has eBooks and the ability to place holds via the website or app. Holds are picked up to the left of the parking structure entrance in the first set of shelves on the left as you walk past the self checkout kiosks.

Just select SCC Library District to access. Space: This library is brightly lit and its ambiance feels welcoming and friendly. It's not enormous, but it seems to have the necessary sections and I was impressed there was an entire section of books written in Chinese. Very cool! Most of the library is one floor but there is one section that has a second floor. There is a variety of seating throughout the library including cafe style seating, arm chairs, "diner booth" high tech seating with large screens and plugs, bar style, "team" tables equipped with plugs. I was very pleased with all the options I could choose from. And many people seemed to take residence in some of the spaces and this please me because that's exactly what I need, a place where I can work for hours on end. I did notice some seating is cushioned but a lot of seating is either wood or plastic. Not sure how long the comfort will last over the hours. Fuel: No food in the library. I do see some people drinking water or even cupped drinks. I appreciate it, just make sure you clean up after yourself. Next to my table there is a trash bin and there are recycling and garbage bins around the library.

When my daughter was little, she loved reading in one of the cozy upholstered circular reading nooks in the Children's Room. Besides books/audiobooks/DVD's/CD's, you could borrow park passes, various kinds of board games, puzzles and kits (such as stargazing telescope kit, pollinator kit, ukulele kit, gardening kit, and sewing machine kit.) Recently, I've noticed that you could even borrow an induction cooktop. They also offer free 3D printing (1 per month), and drop-in tech help. They have a seed library as well. They have a technology lab, and you could reserve study rooms. The library also hosts different events for adults and children. I attended the "Summery Vegetable Success" event in the Technology Lab on Sunday. The speaker, a UC Master Gardener, was very experienced, and her talk was very interesting and informative! I feel so fortunate to have such a wonderful library in our community.

Today was my first time reserving one of the group meeting rooms because I had an important Zoom meeting scheduled from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. With the assistance of a library staff member, I successfully reserved the room and received an email confirmation. About five minutes after my Zoom meeting had started, the branch manager interrupted my meeting and told me that I needed to leave because the room belonged to someone else. Since I saw that a group of children was waiting to use the room, I cooperated and left without arguing. After my meeting, however, I showed the manager my confirmation email, which clearly demonstrated that I had reserved the room correctly. I was then told that there had been a system error and that the room had been double-booked. What I found most upsetting was not the system error itself, but the way the situation was handled. Before asking me to leave in the middle of my meeting, the manager did not check my confirmation email or first verify whether I had made a valid reservation. Instead, I felt that it was immediately assumed that I was the one who had made a mistake. As an Asian woman, I also could not help but wonder whether I was being treated differently, particularly because the other party involved was white. I cannot know the manager's intention, but the interaction left me feeling uncomfortable, dismissed, and disrespected. I understand that technical errors and double bookings can happen. However, I believe the appropriate response would have been to first verify both reservations, explain the situation respectfully, and work with both parties to find a solution rather than abruptly asking one person to leave an ongoing meeting. After being a longtime resident and regular user of this library, I was extremely disappointed by today's experience. I hope the library will review both its room reservation system and how staff handle situations like this so that all patrons are treated with courtesy, fairness, and respect.
