I've been coming here more recently to study and it's been great. I really like the separated study room with separate cubbies. It really allows you to focus and not be distracted. This location has ample parking and a good selection of DVDs and CDs as well if you're looking for media. I really like how they have a Darth Vader at the entrance and always decorate him for each Holiday! I've seen some events in their large event room but haven't participated in any yet. The staff are friendly and attentive. This library also offers a water refilling station at the front too which is a plus! I recommend this library for families and individuals! read more

This is a part of San Jose libraries . It's a bit small compared to other San Jose public libraries I have been to. The parking is limited . The kids playing section is good and spacious though and the staff is helpful . Books collection is fine . When I went there , someone was doing reading to the kids which was great . Also there was a darth Vader statue at the entrance which my kids loved . read more

This library is ok. It's a bit small, although the kids area is relatively big. Parking can be tight, and the hours are short. This is very much a neighborhood library, nobody eschews their local library to come here. If this is the closest library for you, then you'll probably think it's fine. If it's not, then go somewhere else as you're not missing anything. read more

This is actually a cool library. During my high school days, I would often frequent this place because of how good it is. The people who work here are very sweet and friendly. If you want a good place to study this is the place. If you are looking to take a break come here. I used to frequent this place during the summer days and it was really refreshing. They have some vending machines here that provide a drink before going out into the sweltering heat. If you are riding the bus, the bus stop is right in the front. After getting out of the library all you have to do is board the bus. If you got kids this is the best library because there are plenty of books to read and many computers to use. Drawback: Parking is very slim here so please plan accordingly. I am not part of this community but would advise against parking here. read more

This library is such an asset to the Cambrian neighborhood! The librarians are always helpful and friendly. We frequent here weekly sometimes or at least 1-2x a month. I've requested books here and they always have them in a few days. They have volunteer opportunities for the kids and personally my kids have done summer volunteering with them. But I think the most important thing that this library provides besides a ton of books for your reading pleasure is a safe space for the children in this community. How amazing is it to have a library that is close by a middle school and high school? It's just a block away from the middle school and maybe 1/2mi from the high school. It's a safe haven for kids to come here and study, do hw , read books, play educational game, get tutoring and hang out with a friend reading or working together on projects. They have study rooms that you can rsvp in as she'd, puzzle tables to work on, and a great children's section. It is a treasure to have something this close by for the kids whose parents may just need them occupied for an hour or 2 before being able to pick them up. I'm not speaking for my own kids since they don't go to the nearby school but I see so many kids here right after school making such good use out of this library. Please continue to support and grow this library. It is something that brings great value to this community! It is such an important part of my kids' childhood and I think for all kids living here. read more

Not only this branch is closed to my house, I like to attend the baby story time in this branch. They have a separate room for this program, and the story teller is talkative too (Mrs. Illa). I would love for her to speak louder so the other kids can hear while other kids are screaming. Nevertheless, she still makes a great storyteller. I like other programs that this branch offers too. Their staff is courteous and helpful, never make any rude remark, i never find any problem with the parking spots, overall, it's a great library. I'm thankful for this public library! read more

I love this library. Clean, close, convenient, quick. Great staff. Great selection. You can look everything up online to see if it's in. You can pay your late fees online. You can renew your books online. They have a good selection of DVDs and CDs too. They usually have some cool event in the community room coming up (like the Red Panda Chinese Acrobats on Feb. 28th!) Vineland library is located on Blossom Hill Rd, past Kooser and Meridian. It has a small car park, but library is nice after the remodel. If you reserve your books online at sjpl.org, you can have them ready for pickup. Otherwise I would not chance just browsing as it will likely take a lot of time. Library is clean, convenient and relatively quick to check out if you find a parking spot as at times it is busy. 4 stars. read more

This library opened when the old almaden library was being torn down for reconstruction. It has a coffee shop whic seems ot be a growing trend with libraries now, and they have a computer lab with special classes for older people and the elderly, which I thought was a nice touch. My only real complaint is the parking. It's horrendous. Park accross the street and hoof it. read more

Fairly new library, on the small side but with a decent selection of books. They have some old DVD's and VHS movies that you can checkout as well as some music and audio books. They have a small cafe inside and a few rooms with computers for adult education, etc... There is a magazine area at the back with some chairs to relax on. They have Internet ready computers that you can log onto with an account. The parking lot is small and there are many times when it is full. If this is the case, you'll need to park on the side street off of blossom hill. ={ read more

I've been to this library when it was first remodeled, and was really amazed at the new updated look for this library. It was a preview of what is to come for all the San Jose library branches. I used to have to come here in my early college days when my local Almaden Branch was closed down for new construction. This place was a decent temporary alternative. Now, I even go here for a change from the Almaden Branch. The only problem previously was the limited parking, but that doesn't seem to be a problem today. They have a decent amount of couch seats here which is nice when you want to really plop down with a book. read more

Not a bad library really! The kids section is large, they have nice project hours, and their community room is big. I've not dealt with many of the staff, but the few I have met are nice enough. It is convenient to get to but the parking is dicey, especially on a busy summer day. read more

This library is pretty. That's it. No seriously though, there's really nothing that great about the Vineland branch other than the fact that it's new(er) and pretty. Practically every time I've come in to find a book-- and I'm talking about classic novels-- I've had to order it from another branch to ship over. I enjoy grabbing a coffee from the cafe' and reading books with my children at the library. My children enjoy going to some of the events that are held at the library that cater to their age group. It is nice for me to usually find at least one book for myself to checkout and to read that during some down time while at home. I love the cookbook and gardening selection! read more

If you live in San Jose, this is a great branch library for all your public library needs. It has a slew of computers, a computer center, a cafe, an area devoted to children, automated checkout, an area of featured media and books, and quiet study rooms you can rent. Most of the rentals can be done online from your own home if you log onto the San Jose Public Library website. You would need to do this for private rooms and certain computers. My favorite part is that they have a 16 and over section for quiet studying. Overall, a great place. My only real complaint is that they have not gotten wireless internet yet. read more

This is a good library. Free wifi, study tables, study rooms, multilingual newspapers... what more can you ask for? The staff is always happy to help you apply for a new library card. The checkout is fast and efficient. (you're using machines) The only drawback is the chaos of teenagers who go into the teen room to read manga and check facebook after school each day. The teen room is practically soundproof, so it's not too noisy. Still, it might be a bit hard to concentrate with the constant movement around you during peak hours when the library is saturated with its patrons. read more

There is a middle-aged, maybe older blonde woman that works here that is absolutely terrible. She treated me as if I were subhuman. I have never been spoken to with such a condescending tone. She basically accused me of lying when I said I paid my library fine and tried to intimidate me and demean me with her volume and tone when I told her I paid it. This was a fine I paid over 6 months ago... "Well since you paid it, you obviously have a receipt." She snapped. GET REAL. Who keeps a receipt for anything less than $20? Who keeps a receipt for over 6 months? WHO KEEPS A RECEIPT FOR A $11 LIBRARY FINE FROM OVER 6 MONTHS AGO?! "Well did you pay card or cash then?" She asked. This is like asking someone how they paid for their cup of coffee and scone last year...literally such an insignificant amount of money, for such an insignificant event, from long ago enough for no one to care. Even the her coworkers seemed taken aback by how she was treating me. No one should have to experience this kind of disrespect at a library. I hope she reads this and fully reevaluates the fiber of her being and content of her character if she ever comes to a moment of self-realization. All in all, a crappy situation. I'm usually a lot more forgiving on Yelp ya'll, but I'm too mortified to even go back into this location. I had to CALL to check on the status of my account. Very easy to find, right off Blossom Hill and the freeway and in a friendly looking residential area. So much nicer than the Berryessa branch! What's up w/ that??? They have the electronic return system similar to Milpitas, the interior is so clean, well light, and just plain NEW! I likey. :) This is smaller than the Berryessa branch though and they hold a range of events in their activity room (such as open mic guitar concerts and etc). I would definitely pop in here again when I'm in the area. read more

I have been here before since 2006, I just came here a few days ago to study in quiet room. It is great as I remembered. It is clean and comfortable place to chill. The librarians are wonderful; two librarians are really helpful. Especially they are willing to spend time to help me with. I really appreciate it. read more

This is a small library but serves as a great hub for the local community. Sometimes I just go and browse, but if I want something specifc I go online and then have it sent for pick up here. Since my son was born we've been going once a week for Mother Goose story time. The librarian who runs it is fabulous and my son loves the songs and stories. The staff in general is great. The only drawback: those darned return kiosks! read more
