Okay. That was a month ago, I have called that office or had them calling me a dozen times over this script. And here I still wait, been out of meds a month. Was admitted for a 4 wheeling accident. I had trauma team and ortho following me. Neither communicated with eachother. I had a broken pelvis on the right side. Ortho team was good and told me I can't bear weight on the right, a few hours later trauma team comes in telling me to put weight on my right leg and not my left. This happened multiple times. They tried to B.s me like a drug addict and give me some pills im not even supposed take( I was there for alcohol) unstead they still told me it was what suppposed to be. But was actually motrin. Was transferred to camc with diarrhea and a lower bowel obstruction. After 20 hrs. of diarrhea with no medication,except an iv, no test or referrals I was released and sent home with no meds. or diagnosis. I would honestly rate the er at the hospital in the negative if possible. I came into the emergency room by ambulance (I have a heart condition) and was quickly transfered to a wheelchair and shoved in a nice dark corner to be completely ignore for 4 hours. It's a pain to get to and park, but it's a pretty good hospital. I was booked for surgery and things were kept pretty sufficient. There was some waiting from a few visits, but it wasn't too painful, considering how busy it becomes. I woke up with a nurse ready to help me. That was comforting. Unlike CAMC General, where I woke up alone. Nothing scarier than being alone when you're post-surgery. If you're going to this hospital, you're in good hands. read more

My neighbor was transported by ambulance yesterday very ill . She was treated like an outcast. They ran a few test and told her she was released to go home without any answers. She did not have a ride home so they just sit her out in the waiting room with out a blanket or sheet over her. She had nothing to drink or eat the whole time and she is a diabetic. This is an 87 year old woman, very frail and very sick. She sat there for hours without anyone checking on her to see if she was ok. Finally a young girl came to her and told her she would take her home about 11:00 pm. There is no reason that this poor lady should have to be treated like this. Druggies who go in for pain meds get treated better. If I get a chance to talk with her then I am going to suggest filing a negligence law suit. read more

I had a tIranian rod jammed in. it was visible, I am told, to the surgeon that I had osteoporosis. he never told me I should get a bone scan or suggested Prolia or Fossamax. I am a 3 heart attack survivor and this hospital and the staff were great each and every time I was here. Also had other heart related visits and I never had an issue. I trust the folks and this hospital because they have saved my life. Also during cardiac rehab the staff was excellent. I am a fan of CAMC Memorial, they were a life saver for me. My only complaint is the parking, but it's really not that big of a deal. read more

Where do I start. I had a cardiac cath appointment. the OR nurse started trimming me and cutting me up on both sides of my leg around the groin area. The doctor was 30 minutes late while the OR staff huddled in a corner out of site to talk amongst themselves without telling me what was going on. When the doctor did show up I didn't receive any sedation. My mom always believed in this place for their cardiac care and had called me saying that she had passed out. I told her to call 9-1 and get to the hospital. She chose CAMC memorial instead of Thomas which in my opinion has better cardiologist and took care of me when I had my heart attack. My mom called me and said that they were wanting to release her and bring her back as an outpatient to do a sublasion. I told her not to let them discharge her. Something was t right. She then was going into strut him is and they again wanted to discharge her and bring her back as an outpatient to shock her heart. I again said, do not let them discharge you mom!! She then started having a leaky heart valve and kidney failure and decided not to go on with care. I had no clue that when they injected morphine into her that I would never be able to communicate with her ever again. I just thought she would be loopy. My mom past on Christmas eve. I recently when you one of their primary care portals thinking it was family are which only charged me out of pocket 112.00 per visit. CAMC on the other hand charged 546.00 without insurance and because I make over a certain threshold wouldn't work with me on bringing the price down. To be honest I felt that the visit it was the biggest waste of money. My GF has been going to them and has not been properly diagnosed for trembling and passing out. I did some research and she carry's the classic signs of an autonomic disorder that is probably related to her chemo treatment. They are a bunch of quacks in my opinion. read more

They play on their phones they laugh and carry on and god forbid you ask them anything. Just waiting to be discharged and have met quite a few caring, albeit frustrated and burnt out nurses from the various departments we've passed through from pre-op to icu. I will never be back to this hospital. I have never seen such poor customer service from a health care provider. No communication with families. No feeling of who the consumer is. My husband had sudden onset of chest pain and shortness of breath, with extremely high bp in one arm and unmeasurable with our electronic device in the other. I frantically drove him to the ER with our infant, thinking he was having a heart attack. They proceeded to park us in the waiting room for THREE HOURS, never bothered to check bp in both arms, and we didn't even get to see a doctor. In July 2020 I received a call by my Cardiologist from the Veterans Administration that the Echocardiogram showed a possible aneurysm in my aorta and to seek out medical care immediately. This was on a holiday and so all the VA facilities were closed. II told the doctor that I'd be going to the ER at CAMC Memorial in Charleston, WV. I went to the ER and was told that everything was fine. The next business day I called community care at the VA to make sure that the services would be covered and it was. Well just a few days ago I received a bill from the hospital. They waited over 8 months before trying to bill the VA. The claim was denied because the hospital waited over 180 days. I know that if it had been paid the car would only pay a fraction of this claim. To me it would seem that the hospital is trying to get a full cut for the amount that they charged. I'm looking into seeing if this is illegal. read more

I had my 96 year old dad in the ER for severe headache with nausea. My poor dad had to wait for 8 unbelievable hours to be taken back to see a doctor. There is no excuse for this type of treatment, especially for one so elderly having to sit in those very uncomfortable chairs in the ER. The (very young) DO told dad that he was only dehydrated and they gave him IV Fluids. A different doctor then came in to see him and ordered for him to stay overnight. Came to find out that dad had a retinal bleed behind his left eye and he was on a blood thinner. I'm just saying that the ER doctors need more schooling because this would have ended in a disaster if he had only be treated for dehydration and not admitted to later discover the bleed. There also was no water fountain in the ER to at least get a drink. I can't believe such a huge hospital doesn't have simple amenities as a water fountain. read more

I was having chest pains. I was hospitalized before for this. I get really cold, so I was wearing a lot of layers with a large hoodie being the top layer. I also carry a lot of stuff in the pocket of my hoodie. I had to take it off because they had to do vitals, EKG and blood work. The stuff in the pocket kept falling out, so I pulled it out and put it in my purse. One of the staff, because of how I looked wearing a big hoodie and carrying a bag, assumed I was carrying a gun. The security, in front of the whole waiting room, started questioning me and asked to search my purse. I allowed it because I was so humiliated, and did not want to make more of a scene. Once they were done searching I had to sit there with my chest still hurting while the staff laughed at me making jokes. Once they got me back, it got better, but how the front staff acted and discriminated due to looks was totally unacceptable. I only went to this ER because this is the hospital my cardiologist is affiliated with. read more

I work at this hospital. I can honestly say both as a patient and an employee that this hospital is (currently) sub-par at best. The ER is atrocious. The hospital is grossly under staffed. There is no communication between departments. The hospital is dirty. The only positive thing I can say is that it is the best place to be seen for heart problems. No cutting edge cancer treatment, pretty new building though, but that's about it. Their lab is excellent. Good place to choose for laboratory results but not for cancer treatment or emergency room. Corporate keeps making budget cuts in the most important areas rather than cuts from their salaries, so naturally the quality of care has gone down drastically. read more
