This experience was unforgettable from start to finish in their 165 acre property. We kicked off the day with a short ride on Jafar, a stunning, gentle giant weighing nearly 3,000 pounds. ( love at first sight) After taking some amazing photos with him, he happily stayed nearby and spent the rest of the day with us. From there, we met several other camels and hopped on the tram, where more adventures were to be had . Along the way, we encountered so many incredible animals, more camels, a zedonk, llamas, alpacas, and miniature horses. One of the highlights was feeding Thorn, their adorable pet porcupine,grapes she was just the sweetest little girl. We also got to see New Guinea singing dogs (so cute!) and Ambien, their 20-year-old sloth, who was just as amazing to see in person as you'd imagine. Feeding the alpacas and llamas carrots was such a fun, hands-on experience. As if that wasn't enough, four friendly Ridgeback dogs casually joined us on the tram, roaming freely and adding even more charm to the day. Every animal we encountered was gentle, well cared for and clearly loved . I truly can't say enough wonderful things about this experience it was pure joy from beginning to end. If you've never met a camel, Ilama, or alpaca, you're missing out. These gentle creatures will absolutely fill your heart. I'm already looking forward to going back again soon. If you're looking for something unique to do near Las Vegas, Camel Safari is absolutely worth it. We drove up from the Las Vegas Strip and visited earlier in June, and it exceeded our expectations. We were amazed by how up close and personal we could get with the camels and the other animals. The safari tram tour was informative and much more engaging than anticipated as well. We had plenty of opportunities to see the animals in a natural, spacious environment. The friendly staff were also incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the animals in their care. They shared interesting facts about the area and the animals throughout the tour that made the experience both fun and educational. This was far better than your average zoo... it felt much more interactive and authentic. One of the biggest highlights is the location itself. It truly feels like a backcountry adventure, and it's hard to believe you're such a short drive from the Las Vegas Strip. We also did the UTV tour, which took us down to the Virgin River and deeper into the surrounding desert landscape. First, you NEED to make a reservation before going. I never knew we had a ranch with 30 Camels, Alpacas, a Llama, New Guinea Singing Dogs, a Two Toed Sloth, an African Crested Porcupine, a Donkey and a few other animals about an hour outside of Las Vegas. Guy the owner, an amazing bank of knowledge, he knows so much about each animal and more. He is a little rough around the edges and some may think him rude; you try to manage a 176 acre ranch with well over 60 animals who have to be fed daily, not so easy... The Camels have a diet of lettuce, carrots, sweet potatoes, apples; the sloth has a special diet which includes egg whites, the ranch dogs get the yolk as a daily treat and they know when that's coming. So in addition to taking care of all the animals, the ranch which is 176 acres, there are also tours to manage. So show him a little appreciation for what he does every day, seven days a week, etc... You can do camel rides, an ATV experience, a zoo tour on a tram, it's not easy and I feel for him so if you go out there, understand his personality has to be rough to deal with all this. Also understand, each animal has its own personality and feelings. Yesterday, Norm a camel used for rides was having a bad day. He was not in the mood for riders. I first tried to ride Norm, he was calm getting his saddle on but once I got on him, he was nope. When Allie got me off of Norm, Norm had an attitude with both Allie and Guy, Norm had to be put in a kennel which Norm was not happy about but needed a time out. So remember, dealing with 30 camels, mini horses, a Llama, Alpacas, a sloth, etc; they are dealing with a lot of different personalities and feelings in addition to people coming to visit. Safety is taken as a HIGH priority. These animals can inflict pain & even death, so I have a LOT of respect for Guy & Allie. They not only have to be concerned with adults but children as well. We arrived at 8:45 which is when the gate is opened, we met Allie and Guy along with another couple. We rode first and as I said Norm was not happy so I got off and they took my friend around the track. Upon coming back with my friend, a whole group showed up for the zoo tour so we were asked if we minded doing the zoo tour and then we will get back to the camel ride. No biggie... The zoo tour was amazing. We got on the tram and were taken to see every animal on the property stopping in each area, learning all about the animals in that area with the opportunity to ask questions, got to go in the kennel to feed the Llama and Alpacas, cool animals, petted the zebra, fed and petted the porcupine, got up close and personal with the sloth and just had an amazing experience. The knowledge gained yesterday was so cool. Once the zoo tour was over I got to ride Lodi. The camel ride was really cool, long and a really neat experience I would do again. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you go out and visit this Camel Safari. They need the support as they have a lot of mouths to feed daily and you will have an amazing experience in the Nevada desert. read more

First off, the camel ride was a 4-minute walk around a corral no bigger than my 2-car garage. The photo op on the other side of the corral (2 minutes into the ride) took longer than the ride itself. So disappointing for the amount we paid and when it's advertised as a 30-minute camel ride. Secondly, I bought the camel ride + zoo tour for $149. After taxes and fees of 18%, it came to $175.88. Another customer showed up and paid only $50 (no additional fees) for the same 4-minute camel ride, which means I paid $125.88 for the zoo tour. My husband only took the zoo tour and he paid $59 plus 18.4% in taxes and fees for a total of $69.83. I understand the someone has to pay Peek for the booking fee, so even if I paid $50 plus 18.4% in taxes and fees ($59.20) for the camel ride as the other customer did without any taxes and fees and $69.83 for the zoo tour as my husband did, the total I should have paid is $129.03. I feel I was royally RIPPED OFF, not just by the overcharge, but also by the very short camel ride around a dusty, no-scenery corral. The zoo tour was informative, but there was only one sloth (advertised as plural) and only one porcupine (also advertised as plural). No armadillo. The singing dogs didn't sing, except they cried when we first arrived (their way of "singing" to show their excitement). But they didn't sing while we were visiting that area, and we didn't get to see them up close. The camel ride + zoo tour was advertised as a 3-hour experience, but it didn't even last 2 hours. Furthermore, we were advised to arrive 15 minutes before our starting time, which we did. However, the gatekeeper (who was also our tour guide) came screeching to the gate after 9:00, and it took another 10 minutes for us to drive to the compound and for her to get situated. My husband thought it was not worth the hype or the money. We told our friends in Utah, Nevada, and Hawaii not to waste their time and money. The plus side of the trip? The tour guides were nice and we got to see some animals up close that we would not have seen otherwise. But was it worth $245.71? NOPE! Just save your money or spend it in Vegas or St. George. read more

Fun day feeding Camels, Alpacas, and an African Crested Porcupine! Camel Safari is near Mesquite and it borders the river. Took about 1.5 hours to drive from Henderson. It's a few minutes off the highway, but feels pretty remote and sits on about 176 acres of land. I rode a tram and one of the family dogs was hanging out with me. There was even a Sloth, Zedonk, Horses, a Goat, and Alpacas, plus a Llama. There were two camel babies only a couple of weeks old. It was cute seeing them walk around. I would recommend driving an SUV or a higher profile vehicle because the road is not paved. No food nearby, so bring water and snacks. read more

Absolutely recommend this place for fun! Camel Safari is located in Bunkerville, Nevada, about a little over an hour from Las Vegas, just 10 minutes from Mesquite. When you get off from I-15, you drive a few miles still on a paved road, then follow the GPS direction to turn right. This road is not paved, but totally "off road" and it's about 0.8 miles long. I have an SUV and I still drove very slowly on this road! When you arrive, park immediately on the designated area, and don't try to get closer! Camels are walking around freely, you don't want to injure them! Employees will be greeting you and instructing you where to go next. According to the tour you signed up for, you either go for a camel ride or an UTV ride. Either way you'll have fun! Bring plenty of water/beverages, snacks! They will give you bottled water but you may need more! There is no restaurant in this place. Restrooms are in the big building! Next time I would bring masks or something to cover my face because it is very dusty, especially when it's windy. We had an UTV tour, and it was very nice, especially going down to the Virgin River! Seeing other animals was fun too, the zebra, the porcupine, the alpaca! All employees, tour operators were very nice and friendly! I'm already planning to come back to do the camel ride! Our experience started out rough. The website says to arrive 30 minutes early. We did, and although there were cars, we could not find a single human being nor were there signs. We ended up waiting 45 minutes until any type of experience began. They have 4 dogs on the property, and one stayed with us for the first 45 minutes. We LOVE dogs, but repeatedly had to push this dog off. He repeatedly clawed at my partner, making his legs bleed and in pain the rest of the day . We told one of the employees, Dave, TWICE, and he laughed and walked away. Once Ally came, things became substantially better. She was an excellent, thoughtful, and kind guide who clearly loves every animal there. She answered all questions and was great with the kids who were at the experience. We highly recommend her, we just struggled with having bleeding legs for several hours and an employee who thought that was hilarious. read more

If you're visiting Mesquite or Las Vegas and looking for something a little out of the ordinary to do, check out the Camel Safari! It's a highly interactive, memorable and unique adventure that you won't soon forget. When we first booked our five hour tour, I was a little hesitant. What would we do for five hours? But believe me, the time goes quickly and you won't ever be bored, especially if you like animals and education. The biggest attraction appeared to be the camel rides, which they are no longer doing. But there are still plenty of opportunities to get up close and personal with them, even if you can't ride on them. Instead of riding the camels, each party was assigned a golf cart, which my wife had a blast driving around. Our tour guide, and owner of the facility, was with us the entire time. It was apparent that he loves his animals and takes good care of them-being a tourist attraction is lower in priority to taking care of his animals. The activities felt less scripted and rehearsed and more like we were along for the ride while he did his routine daily chores. We watched while Guy fed the camels their hay and he educated us on all things camels. He answered our many questions along the way as well. We also visited the porcupine, who enthusiastically ate a bowl of fruit while we causally sat nearby, watching. After the tour and feeding, it was time for lunch. Another staffer asked about food allergies and then went to prepare our meal while we hung out with Ambien, the two-toed sloth. She was much more active than I anticipated a sloth to be. We then enjoyed a lovely picnic under the trees with the other folks on the tour. There was plenty of food-we couldn't finish it all! But I was reassured that nothing went to waste-if we didn't finish our lunch, the animals will. After lunch, Guy brought out his favorite camel, Norman, who let us pet him and love on him. He's very gentle and photogenic. We wrapped up our adventure and each person received a cute stuffed camel to take home. I would recommend this tour for adults and older children who prefer a low key, slow paced activity. Younger children might get bored, unless they really like animals. This is also not a scripted, super polished activity. There were plenty of times when it was more "choose your own adventure" than planned out. We were immediately greeted by a tour in progress. We were invited to hop on the tram, so off we went! Camels, camels, camels! So much room to roam and play. I've seen them in typical zoo settings but they are HUGE up close! You also get to meet some llamas and a sloth. You can pet a camel (Norman) and feed a porcupine (Thorn). When I'm Vegas, this place is WORTH the hour drive to check this place out!!! The girlfriend and I booked our tour through the company and had a blast. There are many things to do when visiting Las Vegas, so we wanted to do something different... When we arrived there, looked like we were lost (LoL). The drive is down a dirt road before arriving at the gate. You know you are there when, of course, you see camels. Met by our tour guide Alex, which she gave us great info and history about the camels. Took a nice camel ride around the property which was led and guided by the owner and 2 employees. After the ride (30-35min) we returned back to (lodge) and had the opportunity to view some of the other animals on property. We got to get up close with a sloth, opossum, and a very cute and chubby porcupine... and a couple of armadillos too. Overall, the experience was great. This has been on my today list for years and I'm so glad we finally did it. (Especially this time of year before summer). The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. I swear one, Mr. Roger's, had a crush on my husband. The minute we got there he came up to us at our car and then stayed with us the entire tour. On our 28th anniversary we decided to do something a little different. We went on the tram tour at Camel Safari. It was a very enjoyable experience and I recommend it to everyone, kids, adults, couples, friends yep, everyone. Im not sure who ran our tour, but I believe he was the owner. He explained everything so well and took us on the tram to see some wonderful animals, who obviously cared for him. There are other animals besides camels, and you get off the tram to visit each one. My family and I planned this trip because we love animals, and the tour guide Adam was amazing. This guy is a keeper.... We wanted to see the New Guinea screaming dogs the most. The owner, Guy, chit chatted for the first half hour or so... so by the time we got to the screaming dogs... we were kicked out by the owner. Guy said, "I have to go and we need to leave so you need to leave now (in the middle of feeding the porcupine) " What?? we just paid 400-500 and we didn't see the New Guinea dogs.....noooooooooo..As far as my assessment of the care of the animals.. The love given to these animals was incredible and the animals love the owner and Adam. They both truly are animal men. But Guys's bedside manners with people stink. After seeing Camel Safari on Outdoor Nevada, I knew it was something I had to do. After all, camels and the desert are associated. I made the reservations online and followed their directions to get there. My car's GPS unit did not accept the address but if you use the maps app on your phone, kit will lead you right here. That wasn't necessary because getting there is very straightforward. Before our ride, we went into a building where they have some animals--a two-toed sloth, armadillos and a few others. These animals came to live here when Roos-N-More was shut down by Clark County. While these animals are interesting to see and learn about, the main event is the camel ride. We went outside to the loading platform. The men working there had saddled the camels while we were inside. All the camels ridden were dromedaries--one hump camels--and the saddle is such that you sit just forward of the hump. Getting on and off is easily accomplished with direction and help from the staff. Then the camel is led by one of their employees and you go for about a 45 minute ride around part of the perimeter of the property. As we went along, my handler answered questions, pointed out the thorny bushes and creosote bushes that the camels eat. I was going to take my camera with me but one of the employees took it from me and she walked along and took photos as we went. This was best because holding on and pointing a camera would have been difficult. After the ride, we saw more of their zoo animals--an African porcupine, potbelly pigs, different kinds of armadillo, and some others as well as going to the fence where there were llamas, vicuna, and alpacas. The whole experience was just great! Guy, the owner, and his staff are very accommodating and knowledgeable. This was a drive well worth it and the ride was one more thing off my bucket list. read more

This place was a hidden gem! I had a great experience! The animals are very well taken care of, and the workers here really show that they care and take pride in the camel safari. There are also more than just camels. They had dogs, mini horses, llamas, dingo dogs, sand cats, sloths, and a porcupine. My favorite part was getting to feed the porcupine and camels. I came to the Camel Safari last summer during a mini staycation. I had seen it on a couple of TV shows. It looked interesting so I went online and found they had a couple of packages to offer. The one I chose was the Zookeeper experience where you get to help feed the animals. So I got up close and personal with some of the camels. Got to touch them and see how big they really are. I also got to see a porcupine, armadillos, and a sloth. I did not get to feed those or touch them because they are considered exotic animals. Camels are considered more domesticated. Regardless, it was cool to see all the different animals and how much the owner cares for them and they for him. It was a small tour that I was on with me, the owner and a family of four. The whole experience lasted a couple of hours. That includes my arriving way too early. And staying around a little later to watch all the animals a little more. This was a fun experience. We arrived a little early, driving in from Las Vegas, and it was easy to find. Our tour guides were the absolute best, I was so impressed with how much information we were given about all of the animals. They answered all of our questions and more! The tour was perfect, we experienced beyond what we thought from seeing all of the camels, to getting pictures, to even touching a camel. We saw a sloth, opossums, a porcupine, armadillo, and more. 2 girlfriends & I visited this past Sunday for to the full camel safari ride. I have to say it was an awesome experience. Interesting & extremely informative. Our main host was Alex (she rocks!). Personable, friendly & a great personality. All of the staff was patient (bc some of us was a lil nervous at first). My camel handler was (I think her name) Andrea or Alexander. As we walked along, she allowed me to ask all sorts of questions. I learned that she's somewhat new to the team but been there about a year or so. Started because of her love for animals & how excited she was to learn that Camel Safari was now in NV. I got to learn about the camels personalities & how they have their favorite human. lol I was concerned that I asked too many questions bc I had not yet gotten to the part of the excursion where we learn about the animals history but nope I was wrong. Alex had even more info. She even threw in the souvenir package w/a beautiful photo & the cuties stuff camel. Overall, we enjoyed it. Probably more than I thought I would. I'm all about doing & trying new things for the experience (YOLO) but it was great. I have 2 young grandchildren that I would love visit some day. The property is massive in size. Animals had more than enough space to roam. Camels weren't crowded into small spaces.No funny smells (clean). You could see the animals were happy & well loved.
