So we decided to do this as part of a Go City Pass attraction, otherwise it probably would not have been on my list of things to do in Vegas. What a loss thar would have been! I cannot recommend this highly enough. Our guide, Kelly, had old pictures and knew so much of this history of Old Las Vegas. It was amazing!! He told us where to get affordable water (ABC stores) and why ABC stores (which are Hawaii-based stores) are around, took us through the history of so many hotels and the highlights. We did this in December, so I am sure it is a lot hotter in the summer, but there is a lot of indoor space. I'd still recommend a water bottle. All of us loved learning and he was a great story teller. You go all the way down to Container Park and get some coupons and restaurant tip sheet at the end. You will be on your feet for two hours so wear comfy shoes. But we actually would consider staying down in "old Las Vegas" the next time we come, all because of this tour. read more

We booked this tour very last minute as in two hours before it started and were welcomed along. We loved it. We loved learning the history of Vegas and about the revitalization of downtown since this is where we were staying (and how this happened). We were taken into casinos we otherwise wouldn't have stopped in. Did you know there is an award winning pool in the golden nugget...we didn't. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough! We booked the tour as part of a Christmas trip to Vegas, and it ended up being one of my favorite things of the entire trip. Kelly is a phenomenal guide who is highly knowledgeable and entertaining. The history of Las Vegas and the small details he includes are not to be missed, especially if you're a history buff, which I am. The stops at the historic casinos, the photos of "Old Vegas", and the stories of how downtown has made a comeback are well worth your time. His restaurant recommendations are an added bonus! Very pleased I did this as my first stop in Las Vegas after the aiport! I got set up with a bunch of great recommendations for my stay on top of coupons that I used to enhance my vacation! This tour far exceeded our expectations. Our guide was super knowledgeable (and obviously very passionate) about downtown Las Vegas history, and it showed in his delivery. He had a binder of "then and now" photos, which really highlighted how much Vegas has changed over the years. The tour started at the Plaza Hotel, which is where the Vegas we know today started. As we strolled down Fremont St, he told stories of significant events in Vegas history, and pointed out the key buildings and landmarks. We also explored the area around Fremont St, and he told stories of the people who revitalized the downtown area, and what their vision was able to accomplish. Then this tour is for you. We had been to the Fremont street before, but its easy to miss its specialties. Cause you do not know what you do not know. Thus to really know and distinguish yourself from your cousin, friend, a jealous colleague, exes, grandparents - whoever has been to Vegas before and has a million fun stories - this is your chance to arm yourself with some great insider information that you can use it at your own leisure or at a party. Infact, one tidbit I learnt even startled another tour guide on a different tour. The tour begins on Fremont Street in front of the Plaza casino, you are given walkie-talkies plugged into an earphone with volume control. You can hear Kelly all the time, hands free to take pictures etc. The tour itself is really nice. At the end of the tour, he gives out coupons and his recommended restaurants. Also a couple of other places we mentioned we were planning to visit, he was nice enough to give us a coupon for this. Also if you want to finish your steps quota of the day - believe we did about 3-4000 steps, It is a good option. Only con I had was I did not knew it was part of the Go pass and that way could have saved some money on this tour. So checkout the Go pass as well. read more

Wherever I travel I make it a point to look for a walking tour. I love learning about the stories and factoids at the literal ground level. Usually tours like this aren't hard to find...except in Las Vegas. Las Vegas is home to so many stories but it's also home to constant innovation. It's obsessed with the new. The fact that this tour exists shouldn't be taken for granted - it should be sought and enjoyed by anyone who wants to learn where this city started and how it became the destination it is today. It's literally one of the only ones of its kind and I am so thankful I got to take it! If you're looking for vapid shops or celebrity restaurants stay on the strip. Disclaimer: I don't like Vegas. I've been there several times and I simply don't like all the noise and show-offs. My wife and I spent two night at Vegas, at the end of a long national parks trip, the plan was simply to rest and pack before flying home. Since we had a whole day and nothing do to (it's Vegas after all) we looked for a walking tour. We are used to taking free walking tours all over the world, were surprised this costs so much more, but decided to try it anyway. It was a-m-a-z-i-n-g ! By the end of the tour we regretted we don't have an additional day in LV. Kelly, the guide told us so much about the city, how it started and how it evolved. He provided tips as to where to eat, which shows to see, which hotel is full of artifacts, and much more. It was overwhelming really, the city has SO much more to offer than the strip. We especially liked the downtown area, with all the pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes - without the slot machines. I highly recommend this tour for everyone who wants to learn a little bit more about the city, and why does Las Vegas down tonwn feels like San Francisco. read more

Kelly, our tour guide, did such a terrific job. He was very good at setting up the tour, complete with headphones so he could be heard, especially on Fremont Street. It was a seven block tour starting at the Plaza Hotel, and going seven blocks. His depth of knowledge of the history of Las Vegas was very impressive. His sense of humor and communication style really made it worthwhile. He also included historical pictures and presented them at the locations from where they were originally taken. Really cool. My wife was reticent to go, but when we were done she said it was one of the best tours she could have imagined! Kelly gave us the tour. His knowledge was incredibly deep about the history of Downtown Las Vegas and his enthusiasm about it's future was infectious! We had a flight that didn't allow us to make the later tour, so they gave us a private tour at 11:00 - nobody else signed up, but they wanted to be sure we didn't miss it. The ONLY thing we regret was doing this at the end of our trip instead of the beginning. I've been going to Las Vegas for decades and always stayed on the strip. I have walked up and down Fremont street dozens of times and had no idea how interesting the history of this district was until I took this tour. Our tour guide Kelly is a flat out expert on the history of this area and even locals will learn a ton on this tour. He also explained recent developments in the area that have made it into a very hip place to live and work today. I'd been to Vegas many times before, but had never gone to Fremont street. This tour was so interesting and full of facts. Since it was my first time, i got a huge history lesson, loved hearing about the casino's and the city and then shown the future of Fremont and the new area. My guide even provided great restaurants, little known sites, fun "little known" facts about the area. He even took me to Pawn Stars and was able to make sure i got the best photo ops.
