The owner will talk your ear off about how many celebrities he's worked with or how amazing he is. He's rude and will treat you like you're back in a 50's tailer shop. Especially if you're a woman. I had an emergency trip and needed to get my dress done fast, which is definitely what this place is good for. My shoes were already at my destination so we had to eyeball it. I said to cut maybe 3 inches but the dress was so short you could see my FLATS (I didn't even bother wearing heels). Would not come back again. When my mom went to go pick up my dress he was rude to her as well. He seems vaguely sexist or his personality is a little outdated and old school in a bad way. read more

Asked for my dresses to be hemmed and this is what I got, was just cut with a scissor and not a straight line at all. Was a ridiculous price and he refused to refund me my money and proceeded to tell me this is how it should be done and that since he charged me that much they must have done other work on it. I didn't realize this was a boutique shop until my husband informed me that after my terrible experience. For anyone else who is wondering what this means, expect to pay $150 for a simple dress hem. I am not a cheap person. I will easily pay - what some may consider overpaying - for a satisfying and enjoyable service or product. VERY disappointed in both the sewing quality and customer service here. I had SO many problems: - Make sure you get a written quote before having them do any work. The owner quoted me a different amount then what he actually charged me for and when I questioned it, he said I was wrong (I wasn't wrong, I'm 100% positive what he originally said- I just didn't have proof). - I asked him to put a new zipper in. I paid for the new zipper. He never put the new zipper in and when I questioned it and asked for that amount to be refunded, he said, "We don't give refunds." Eventually he gave it to me just to shut me up since he had many customers in the store. - The sewing that was done came un-threaded so I had to go back the next day to have them fix their error. It was a simple job that should not have happened if they had reinforced their stitches. - The dry cleaning that was done melted my bra cups and they were completely ruined. I would not recommend this place at all. Customer services says a lot to me and there is NONE here. read more

Standing at 5 foot even, finding a great fitting suit is difficult. I bought a fancy suit on sale, and of course, (since it wasn't petite) the sleeves on the jacket and my pants were too long. Thankfully I found Joe! Joe is the sweetest man. Immediately he gives off an old-school feel and you can't help but feel that he is knowledgeable and reputable. Despite being busy he keeps a really clean shop. I've come across real messes. He even went out of his way to take me towards the real heart of his operations to show me what he was currently working. Promised in one week, I now have a great fitting suit. The best. Both of my grandmothers were seamstresses. When I moved to Nutley I needed to find a tailor I trusted. Joe came highly recommended. For 15 years Joe has been altering pants, jackets, suits, and even jeans. Short guys never have the right length on their jeans and a standard hem looks terrible. Joe and his guys do a perfect jeans hem. You'd think it was the real thing. Pricey for the jeans hem? Yes. But worth it. I have friends who drive 30 miles to get alterations from Joe and his staff. I needed some tailoring dove for my dresses for the weddings I'll be attending. When I came in Joe and his staff were very sweet and attended to me right away. They ended up being able to get my dresses tailored much earlier than expected and called me right away! Spent over $250 here for suit alterations. I later noticed that one of the shoulders on my suit was uneven and visibly looked off - so I returned with the jacket and showed Joe. Joe looked at it and he told me that there was nothing he can do to fix it at this point. Not even a partial refund. Pretty disappointed with the level of customer service here. Joe is an old school guy that can sometimes come off as rude in the way that he talks to his customers. Plenty of other better tailors who know how to treat and speak to their customers. read more

Last month, I had to have a gown altered for a wedding and I decided to try out Camelia's for the first time. I met Joe, the owner, and he was the gentleman who helped fit my dress exactly to what I was looking for. He even made suggestions that I had never considered when it came to alterations. They completed my dress right on schedule and even allowed themselves a little wiggle room from the date of the event in case further alterations had to be made. This man literally ruined my dress. I took him a bridesmaids dress for my sister's wedding 4 weeks out. It was full sequin; however, I've worn the same dress before in a different color and the seamstress who I went to prior never had any issues. Upon seeing the dress, he immediately scoffed and busted my chops saying it was going to break a ton of his needles. I brought the shoes and undergarments I was going to wear with it and proceeded to put on the dress. I told him I wanted the sides to be taken it and hemmed to the length that fit the heels I purchased for it. They were about 3 inches high. He told me he couldn't give me a price because he "didn't know how much it would cost until he started working on it". Okay, sure. He calls me 2 days later saying it was done. I go in, sides look great but it was so short you could see the top of my feet!!!! I told him it needed to be let out and he then said that he "couldn't" because he didn't leave any fabric at the bottom, nor did he save any of the fabric he cut off. He THEN told me he wasn't sure what could be done and that I should try and find shorter shoes. LIVID, I complied and went back 3 days later with KITTEN heels and had to spend $50 on buying new shoes. I came in and it was STILL too short. Still upset, I said it had to be fixed and they had to find some sort of fabric to add to the bottom. After putting up a stink, they said they would figure it out and call me the next day after going to a fabric store. They called me the next day and said he was able to "stretch" another inch out of it, whatever that means. He said it was impossible to add fabric to the bottom and he wouldn't be able to fix it. Frustrated, I told him that I'd be picking up my dress and taking it to someone who knew what they were doing. I pick it up and he doesn't charge me, fortunately. I ask him how he was able to get another inch and he says, "Oh, a secret of the trade. He apologizes and sends me on my way. Upon getting home, I try it on again and, of course, it's still too short. I notice that the sash that's supposed to hang across my open back looks too short. I take the dress off and inspect it more and see that he took a strip of fabric from the sash and that's how he "stretched" it!!!!!!!! He then proceeded to reattach the sash, shorten it, and sew every 3 Inches to attach the sash back together leaving gaps in it. I was absolutely mortified. Frantically, I call my mother and sister and they tell me to go to their woman in Glen Rock named Lina (Lina's Tailoring). She's a genius. Trying it on again the next day, she pointed out holes he left in the bottom AND the side seam by my hip was separating completely. I'm not sure what "professional/owner of a store" ruins a dress so badly, lies, and doesn't try to fix it. A true snake and I will never go to him again. Lina, from just pinning it, made the dress look like dream and is attaching fabric to the bottom. Maybe he's better at menswear, but as a female, I would NEVER recommend him even AFTER he bragged that he does "famous people's" gowns all the time. Thanks, but no thanks. read more

Disaster. The worse tailor I have ever been to. I brought in two suits to get tailored, they did a poor job, promised to call when suits were done/never called; I called them they said the suit would be ready the next day/not done; when back a week later/not done. They charge $35 to hem a pair of pants... with no cuffs. The prices are outrageous and the work is not great. I don't understand how they got 5 stars. read more

He treats all customers with the same level of courtesy whether they are buying a custom suit or leaving a few shirts for drycleaning. He meticulously removes collar stays from the shirts so they will not melt while they are pressed (only shop I know that does this). The price of custom built suits can be high but they are made from the best quality materials and with the highest level of skill. Horrible experience - The owner hemmed my daughters Sweet Sixteen gown and it was crooked. Seemed confused when we brought it back. Claimed a gown like hers could never be hemmed straight and didn't remember working on it. Wasn't sure he could fix it in time for the party. I was left spending a lot of money to purchase a new gown at the last minute. He refused to refund our money. We wasted over $100 on alterations and can't even use the dress!
