I like Trancas Crossing Park (TCP), but my dog? He REALLY likes it…read more TCP is a nice, small park with a good walking loop that's a little over 1/2 a mile. It is an on-leash park, so don't plan on letting Rover rove. But the loop is flat, paved, and easy. There is some damage (you can see in photos) to the trail, but at this point it has been re-routed so it's an easy walk. The park itself is pleasant to walk through and take in the nature. There are signs around telling you what you're looking at, some historical info, and paths down to the river (including a kayak launch). What I like about this place - you can walk the pooch without the fear of foxtails that Alston creates. It's quiet, and not too busy, so if you have a crazy ass puppy (talking to my dog here), you can walk them without much fanfare. There's clean restrooms, dog waste bags, and even handicapped parking near the loop. A nice, quiet option that's dog friendly? Sign me up. Pro tip: it takes at least six loops to wear out a Labradoodle puppy.

I also noticed two homeless people camping near the creek close to where the outhouse is located. And I would not go near the outhouse it's not serviced by the city. It's a beautiful hike filled with dense forest and streams. It's a fairly easy hike, well kept, with stairs at most of the steep paths, very narrow at spots and a lot of poison oak/Ivy off the sides of the path. Located on the Bartholomew Winery, a private park with hours from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM when the main gate gets locked (big sign). There is plenty of free parking. My friend and I walked the trail around 1:30 PM. on a Wednesday. We only saw one other hiker the whole time, so nice, so peaceful, we had the whole forest to ourselves. LOL there was a warning sign for Mountain Lions, we did not see or hear anything, only the birds and the stream. I would definitely recommend this trail and I would come back to walk it again.
