This place is a nightmare for anyone who actually cares about their dog's safety and well-being. There's no grass anywhere--just weeds, dirt, and rocks. The atmosphere is chaotic, with rude and careless dog owners who don't supervise their poorly behaved dogs. On my recent visit, an older man sat on his phone while his dog continuously harassed mine, even though my dog was just trying to play fetch. Definitely not a safe or enjoyable environment. I love it! The only thing that is kind of a shame is that, there are so many foxtails, we can't come here during the hotter/dry seasons... I still give it 4 stars though because it's not the parks fault, there isn't too much you can do about it. The people are friendly and 98% of the dogs are super well behaved as well... I was able to get my very skittish dog socialized to other dogs there & now he's great off leash! Really awesome! read more

Medium size park. Flat with some fruit trees. Lots of benches. The ground is bark/rock/dry soil for the most part. There were a few water bowls there when I went, which was a wonderful find! BYO JUST IN CASE... There were also two kiddie pools in the shade, but I didn't go look if they were full. read more

There's a storm coming in then I'm going to be here another three days so I wanted to get Charlie out to the park and run him as much as I could before it started raining. This is a beautiful spot where the Vineyard on one side and forested hillside on two sides. The other side is suburbia. The large dog enclosed area is pretty large, perhaps 100 yards square. There's plenty of room to run and aside from somebody running a tractor nearby it's pretty quiet. There are some tables with shade and some water and tools to clean up. The surface is mostly dirt and scattered weeds and bark. This is my first time here and it's a little confusing because people are walking their dogs off leash all around the enclosed area. I thought the rules were that you had to have your dog on a leash on the trails but perhaps this place is just so chill no one cares. If I wasn't worried that my friend would run from here to Sonoma before I got up a head of steam I would let him run out there too. This place is about five minutes off of the freeway and parking is very convenient and free. I will avoid this place after rains because it looks like it would be nothing but mud. read more

This is our dog's regular dog park. She's super spoiled, we've taken her to Fort Funston, Point Isabel, etc. but Canine Commons and the trails that go through nearby Alston Park seem to be her favorite. They have two fenced in areas, a smaller one for shy/small dog and a very large area for all other dogs. We take ours to a Greyhound play group on the weekends early in the morning and I'm pretty sure they have other play groups as well. Everyone I've run into here have been incredibly friendly, more-so than any other dog park I've been to :) read more

A great place to bring your pup in Napa. This is a wide open 3 acre dog park. It sits right in Alston Park which has about 100 acres of on leash dog friendly trails. I have seen several people here walking off leash, but have never done it myself. This large fenced in park with water and benches. There is also a small picnic area that seems to be maintained by locals. A great place to let your pet roam free or leash up adn go for a walk. Parking is easy. Here are directions from Napa: -Hwy 29 North and exit Redwood Rd. -Turn left on Redwood Rd -Right on Dry Creek Rd -The park will be on the left. read more

Came here the other day with our dog Melo and fell in love with the place. Melo and I live about 30 minutes away from this Dog Park but will now have to make the drive. The dog park is clean, plenty of space to run around. There is even a obstacles course that you can train your dogs on. Another cool thing is that you can walk the trail with your dogs and have them off leash. Melo loved running around and we didn't have to worry about cars. On a funny note, Melo is not to keen on other dogs and is really shy. A smaller dog came up to him and took his ball and he didn't do anything about it. We are looking forward to frequenting this place so that he can get comfortable around other dogs. read more

My wife and I walked the dog around Canine Commons during a trip to Napa. The park's practically off-leash, I didn't see a single on-leash dog despite all the signage. Most of the park is hilly and dirt paths, nothing remarkable, but the surroundings are very pretty (in particular, the vineyards on top of the hill). read more

My husband & I visited this gated area of Alston Park with our little dog, Lucy. There are two separate areas. A large area where the bigger dogs like to play and a smaller area for little and shy doggies. There was no signage in the larger area limiting it to only big dogs so Lucy was able to visit both sections. All of the people and dogs were really friendly. The larger area had lots of space with a mixture of shady and sunny spots with plenty of seating and tables. The smaller area was lacking of any shady spots and 2 of the benches were blocked off with caution tape. Since it was hot out the day we visited, we stayed primarily in the larger area where there was more shade. My dog was not really a fan of the bark covering the ground. There were areas covered with weeds/foliage, but none of it was maintained very well. It was more of a rural field gated off with the main area barked over. Would definitely be better if they fixed up the smaller area, put in some areas with shade there and maybe put in some patches of grass. read more

This is by far the best park to bring your dog. There is so much space for your dog to roam around, and the city tries and keeps it as clean as possible by providing doggie waste bags. Napa residents are always very friendly with their dogs, and if there was ever a problem, the owner always took control of the dog (as far as I've seen). Overall, it's a fun place for your dog to play and walk around. read more

The dog park itself is ok, but the trails next to it are spectacular. If you head right while facing the main field (away from the parking lot) you will find trails that lead you into magical, secluded spots. Just gorgeous. . read more

Very nice dog park and lots of good trails. Lots of water for the dogs too. The open area and the enclosed area were clean with benches and shade. The only thing that kept me from 5 stars was that there were no more doggie bags in the enclosed part on Saturday. read more

Best place for dogs if you are in the Napa area. To get there make sure to mapquest corner of Dry Creek Road and Redwood Rd. or you will get lost. Best way to find it is...exit on Redwood Rd. in downtown Napa (exit 19) and go west on Redwood. Take a RIGHT onto Dry Creek and it's about 300M on Dry Creek and you can see it on your left-hand side. Cool dog park. The reason for 2 star is as follows: Dogs walking off leash in parking lot and also off leash on the trails where dogs are supposed to be leashed. Also small / timed dog area filled with large dogs and a Pitbull. Next big dog area with unaware owners including the unaware owner of a male Doberman that wasn't even fixed. Potential for trouble. Sorry I really wanted to like this place, but will not be back. read more

Wow, there's so much space to roam! We brought our dog there for a little run break after a morning of driving and sitting around. They have lots of trees for the dogs and lots of chairs for their humans. Just behind the fenced-off area, your dog can run up the hill along the trail. I like the location since it's just off the main Hwy just a couple exits from the Premium Outlets. This is definitely a place to visit if you're traveling with your dog. read more

Luv luv luved this park. My puppy has had a hard time at dog parks because they were so small and folks (furry and not furry) were all smushed together. This place has space !!! The day i went everyone seemed to be walking up the hill with their dogs off leash and it was great. Never saw my pup so happy and friendly....was finally in her element, she's a baby Bermese mix and was roaming through the vineyards and hills like she owned the place. Great spot and will go again next time i am up north for wine tasting.....a must see for the furry folks. read more

This is a huge dog park...I get a little spoiled going to Point Isabel, and I would rate this up there with Point Isabel (it's not that huge but bigger than Alameda which I also consider to be large compared to all the dog parks in Oakland)...Just a lot hotter and no water....But plenty of pups of all sizes, lots of room to run. read more

I have been to this park several times and each time, I hope that the small dog area is cleaned up. It's full of weeds with not a tree in site. Apparently other parents of small dogs feel the same way and let their dogs play in the big dog area. Come on folks, clean the place up so that my dog is not in there by herself. read more

Hooray for Alston Park. This is a great way to spend quality time with your puppy in Napa. 3 acres of fenced in dog park (with a few little pools for a good cooling soak). Better yet, the fenced park is at the bottom of hilly Alston Park that winds up amongst the vineyards and has both on and off leash areas for your dog. This is hiking with you dog at its best - fun trails, lots of great smells, very scenic and friendly people and dogs to boot! read more

Okay, so I agree with everything that all the other reviewers have said about this dog park and I really do like the park but what I have a problem with is the number of old people that always seem to be there. They are constantly there and they don't really supervise their dogs at all times. And when they are supervising their dogs behavior they just yell at them when they are doing something wrong: humping another dog, barking incessantly and causing other daogs to start up bad behaviors. Also they are very judgemental of eveyone elses dogs and their behavior. From what I have heard from other dog park attendies these old people have at times made people take their dogs into the smaller fenced in area just because they didn't like their breed (pit bull), when this dog has never been aggresive or a problem at the park. Aside from the unattending old people that are quite possessive of the park and really do enjoy this dog park. read more

Do not approach them. Do not approach the dog park. The fence is electrified and highly dangerous. Try not to look at the dog park, and especially do not look for any period of time at the hooded figures. The dog park will not harm you. read more

Fantastic, huge, leash free sand dune and beach dog park with hang gliders and the most beautiful scenery. Doggie Disney World, but better.
