He stopped me in mid sentence and said, I don't need the story, what do you need? I said I needed some of the fill moved 10 feet. He said I'll have my son go over with à plow. There's a very nice and MUCH BETTER landscape supply place (Charlton Landscaping & Nursery) right down the road that you should definitely go to instead.

I purchased 400 sq ft of reclaimed antique heart pine from Jarmak Corp. for a porch floor three…read moreyears ago. It cost almost $5000 with shipping to New York State. It had knots and resinous grain, but I was assured ahead of time that kiln drying would prevent seepage. The wood was primed and painted, but localized seepage began almost immediately. I treated the areas with a heat gun, white-shellacked, primed and repainted them. Those areas remained ok, but others popped up over the next year. Those were treated the same way, but more spots came up later that summer and the next. I sought advice from the manager I dealt with but the best he could suggest was to apply "Goo Gone." By the third year I had put more than 50 hours into heat treating and repainting, with no end in sight. It became clear i would need to replace the floor (original installation was another $5000). I contacted the owner with a description and pictures. It was obvious that the wood had not been kiln treated, or inadequately so. He expressed surprise, but stopped responding to my emails when I requested some modest compensation. A real nightmare.

I had a great experience with Sir Grout. The owner, Chris, came out personally to look at and…read moreestimate the job. It included color sealing a tiled kitchen counter with extremely stained grout that could not be cleaned. Also color sealing three floors and two tiled bay windows. Everything is completely transformed. It's early days, but even the countertop has been easy to maintain despite the insults of a busy kitchen. We had one glitch. The technician applied samples of several colors to each part of the job. The one I picked for one of the floors looked very unattractive to me once it was applied to the entire floor. It wasn't Sir Grout's fault, but Chris worked with me to find a very fair solution. By the time the technician left the floor looked great. I also showed Chris a fully tiled bathroom. Aside from the floor, which we did color seal, Chris recommended skipping that room since it is in such good shape and showers can get expensive. It is refreshing to find a company that does not oversell. I think that Chris takes a very long term view of his company and values loyal customers over short term revenue. So I can highly recommend Sir Grout!
