My dog Prince has been going there for 2 years and everyone there knows he can be a handful. He loves it there! I would recommend camp bow wow to anyone looking for daycare and boarding. Some dogs may get into altercations but the staff is great about communicating with the owners which I greatly appreciate. Does not stop me from taking my dog there I know he is in good hands. It's a wonderful place to take your dog. The staff there is wonderful and always show great interest and care for the dogs. The receptionist is absolutely wonderful and caring and shows great interest in her work and cares for the dogs as well. Overall GREAT place for your dog! As new users of Camp Bow Wow in El Cajon I can only give a review of the "first time" process. We have a 10 yr old female of a breed that is very separation anxiety prone. The Bow Wow interview process and available day camp special package is allowing us to get both pet and owner used to this new exciting environment. First a free walk-in invitation for the human partner to come and visit the Camp during normal working hours with all the warts that might be present that day. Then a request for an interview is submitted online which gained a phone response the same day to schedule a pet interview so the trained staff can evaluate potential safety and aggression issues for all concerned. The interview was in 3 phases: (1) Dog & owner met one on one with Director to test "stranger reactions" (5-7 min) (2) Dog enters Camp area and meets one on one with a same size/sex dog in the large open area under direct control of two staff members which then grows by adding an opposite sex same size dog to the group then once my pet was socializing with the 2 dogs and 2 staff members additional dogs were entered into the area one at a time until about 8-10 were mingling and checking out the new girl on campus (5-10 min) (3) Once the Director gives the okay my dog was admitted to Camp and experienced the normal routine for the remainder of the day. This included free play time, kennel time, outdoor area time, napping on the couch time and 'yodeling' according to her end of day written report card. (time varies, ours was about 6 hours) My participation in these 3 interview phases was to hold on-leash during phase 1 as the Director smoothly did her dog whisperer magic, then I stayed in the lobby and monitored phase 2 on the TV/computer monitors and finally I went off to work and play with the ability to watch various area camera feeds via the Camp Bow Wow webcams during phase 3. My camper came home with a report card noting good and other trends and actions documented by the staff. Also in my checkout package was a coupon to allow me to schedule 3 day camp days (full) and get a groomer's bath for a very reasonable price. This will allow my dog to learn and become comfortable with the scheduled routine of Camp, spend time with the many different trained staff members and socialize with many different campers. I decided to use my coupon one day per week to get this acclimation process ingrained with minimum stress. Our goal over the next month is to have a dog ready to spend a week at overnight Camp with as little anxiety as possible, know that she is safe and in very competent hands and be able to monitor her activity from anywhere via the webcam system. To date I have found Camp Bow Wow El Cajon to be well maintained, well managed, impressively staffed and reasonably priced. read more

My boyfriend and I have decided to move in together and between us have 4 dogs. We needed a safe neutral place to help us introduce our pups and also a knowledgeable trainer or two to offer some guidance and suggestions. Camp Bow Wow provided everything and more for us. In just an hours time we were able to introduce all 4 dogs (2 pit mixes, 1 golden doodle, 1 shitzhu) and they are now happily living under 1 roof with absolutely no incidences. While we were on vacation we left our doggy at CBW Even though we were in Maui we could log in whenever we wanted to check in on the dog through the camper cams! We get to bring Nola's treats with her and she loved it. We decided to take her back for an overnight visit and it was Camp Bow Wow's one year birthday! Our dog Zoe started out at Camp Bow Wow as a timid rescue dog that had not been socialized properly and was abused. I have boarded my pet here even when I'm not out of town, just so he can play with all the other dogs and the staff that loves him just as much as I do. I love receiving the Paw-gress reports telling how his stay was and I love being able to watch him interact on the puppy camaras all day. I trust them with my pets life and more. My wife and I started taking our two dogs to Camp Bow Wow a few years ago whenever we would go out of town. We liked the customer service, the online camera access, and how well they treated our dogs. Even after we moved to the otherside of town, we would make the 1.5 hour drive to Camp Bow Wow because we like me then so much. Recently, my entire family left town for a destination wedding. Naturally, we made the extra drive to drop our dogs at Camp Bow Wow. While we were at the wedding, one of our dogs suffered a spinal stroke (FCE). It had nothing to do with Camp Bow Wow. Because my whole family was out of town we had no one to come get our dog or find treatment for him. The whole Camp Bow Wow staff was awesome, and they really shined in our time of need. They went above and beyond by taking our dog to an animal hospital and getting him the immediate treatment he needed. On top of that, they gave our other dog (the one left at Camp Bow Wow) extra attention and special treatment when he started getting anxious. Through that difficult time Camp Bow Wow were our heroes. They called every day to see how our dog was doing and showed genuine concern towards his recovery. If you love your dogs like they are family then you want a kennel that will care for them like they are your family. Camp Bow Wow is that kind of kennel. CBW is great. We have a German Shepherd who has tons of energy and after 10 hours of day care she's exhausted. I highly recommend this place if you have to run errands, go to work, and don't want your pet sitting alone. They screen all dogs to make sure that they play well together. They offer military discount, have cameras where you can see your pet online and on your smartphone, and best of all it is very reasonably priced. Have done both boarding, and daycare and would recommend both. The only downside for me is that they don't do daycare on weekends, or on holidays when they have a full house. We arrived at this place on a Saturday afternoon about 1:00 and the place was closed. Their answering machine never was updated to tell us that they would be closed. We drove over 2 hours to leave our two dogs here so that we can go to Sea World. We were very frustrated with their lack of concern for out-of-town customers. They had a small paper with a warning about a cough desease in the county which was not mentioned in their recorded message - voice mail. At no point, they never said on their recorded message that they were closed. We had called several times - no different message to say that they would be closed at all. It was not easy to find either and it is a warehouse looking place. I would think that weekends are their busiest time, especially in the summer. Never again!!! read more

Have used Camp Bow Wow many times for boarding our large female shepherd mix. She has no hesitation at all when we arrive to begin her stay and when we pick her up she is healthy and happy. The staff is always friendly and professional. I especially like being able to watch my dog on my iPhone through the video camera system. I just picked up my dogs after their first overnight visit at Camp Bow Wow. They stayed for three nights. We are home now and they are super relaxed and tired from all the playing. This place is great. All the employees are super nice. I love it that I can drop them off as early as 6:30 in the morning, so they didn't have to be dropped off the day before my trip. Love the video cam. Was nice to be able to see them playing and being petted when I was away. We bring our high maintenance Alaskan Malamute here every time we need to go out of town! We don't trust anyone with him, as he's a well-known escape artist but we nver worry when he's here. Their facility is escape proof! They take excellent care of the dogs and you can tell the people that work there really truly care about the animals they work with. The only complaint I have is they charge to view the webcams through an app, although I did see an email that they are changing something with the webcams soon so maybe that will change! read more

Pippa the pug has been a camper for a few weeks now. When you first walk into the "ranger station", you are met by staff that are always welcoming, friendly and caring, I feel like my dog is always in good hands when I drop her off. The facility itself is clean and organized. Prices are reasonable and also competitive with other doggie daycare's we have encountered. Web cams are placed throughout camp to make it easy for you to check in on your pup throughout the day. Where do I begin?! The camp counselors greet my dog by name (Quill) every single time he walks in the door. He is absolutely so loved by everyone there and it shows. When my dog was having some anxiety about being boarded they presented us with a solution of what they thought would help him, and it did. I get messages about his enjoyment of extra services requested when we're traveling, and I can see him playing with his buddies on the live feed cameras anytime. He always comes home so sleepy and happy from his visits. The daycare services are also top notch and inexpensive. Every single person that works here has a true love for animals and they seem to work for a company they love. And that enjoyment shows in the way they care for the fur babies. Rover has been going to Camp Bow Wow since 2008 for weekly day care and many over nighters. Our Rover is SAFE with Camp Bow Wow. She LOVES her buddies, human and canine. She is able to get her bath and nails done too. Terry and I really like that Saturdays have opened up to a play day. One day, Rover was having a bad day and got a time out to her cabin for some quiet time. We appreciate that the staff is constantly mindful of the dog' behaviors. Often, I watch the online "camper cams", I witness the staff playing and petting each of the dogs while watching over them. One night after arriving home on a plane, we had just enough time to get to Camp Bow Wow by 7 pm. We called ahead, they had Rover ready to go. On our wedding day, owners Mark and Connie watched our Rover so she could be at the wedding. How grand is that!!! We are impressed by owners Mark and Connie with their commitment to participation with community organizations for animals, adoption, health. I am very happy to share my experience about Camp Bow Wow. I was taking my 4 year old Chihuahua Carmalita. She was very afraid of the other dogs and most of the people too. I first met up with them at their monthly Yappy Hours. This is where a bunch of us dog lovers get together with the wonderful staff at Camp Bow Wow at the El Cajon Main Street Café in El Cajon, Ca. Part of this group was also my niece Susan and her 2 dogs Prince and Cinder and then Ruth, my sister and Susan's Mother along with Ruth's 2 dogs Mandy And Diva. These are great functions. They even make Puptinis for all of the dogs. Puptinis you say ?? This is a wonderful drink Camp Bow Wow has made up for the dogs. In a safe plastic martini glass they fill with chicken broth and garnish with a pretzel stick and a piece of 1" hotdog . The dogs all love them So I decided to start taking Carmalita to day camp at Camp Bow Wow. The first few times I had to almost drag her in the door. But by the third visit she had started to howl in excitement as we turned the corner to Camp Bow Wow. She now plays with all the dogs and is a totally different dog. I can even take her to dog parks which was something I was never able to do before. The first few times going to dog park she would run to the corner and stand and wait to leave. Now when we go to dog park, she gets off the leash and runs around to greet every dog and she has such a great time. Thank you so much for helping Carmalita become a much better adjusted dog. I can't thank Camp Bow Wow enough for helping Carmalita to become a much happier and well adjusted dog. She continues to go to camp several times a week. read more

Outstanding facility. The staff displays so much joy and happiness towards out dog every time we bring her in. The give her her daily doses of medications and have even shared their ways of giving to her and I use those methods at home now. They show a genuine love for all of the dogs. The cabins are nice and big and they have indoor and outdoor facilities for the dogs to play in and there are staff present to interact as well. Camp Bow Wow helped me SO MUCH. My dog "Chef" who we acquired at age 7 had never been around other dogs and really had no idea how to greet a dog, socialize or even be around other dogs. Camp Bow Wow's awesome trainers, Nikki and Amber worked with him as he attended day care and in a very short period of time I could take Chef to any dog park without incident. I had my dog boarded here for 4 days. When i picked him up, the staff at the front desk told me had gotten into a fight. I was SHOCKED! He had never been the slightest bit agressive with any dog. Even at another Camp Bow Wow facility, he was very well mannered. I was told that he would not be allowed back. When I asked what had happened, I was told that that "there is just a note" saying such. I was ticked and sad. Then another staff member came up, loving on my dog. She said that he didn't get into any fights. In fact, he had been playing with one dog, another dog got scared and worked up and that OTHER dog started fighting with yet ANOTHER dog! So, really my mutt was innocent! Never-the-less, they said he is NOT allowed back. Don't go here. I really don't think the entire staff was dumb but, the ones that are make the rules. Find someone who understands dog behavior better. read more

Wonderful place. Owners and staff are obviously dog lovers, not only for their boarders but for all dogs. They host adoption events for rescue groups and also have foster dogs on the premises. The boarders play together in areas suitable for their size and temperament most of the day, retreating to their cabins for naps and overnight. While I am a little nervous leaving my nearly 1 year old boxer for boarding, I love that they have an interview process so you don't just throw your beloved pet into the lion's den. They introduce the dog to two mild-tempered dogs, and if the dog is good with that, introduce the dog to the group. I was able to watch on their web cams, and I loved that my puppy was having so much fun! I picked up one very tired dog at the end of the day. I had a very good experience boarding my "puppy" with Camp Bow Wow (He's 10 years old and 70 lbs, but he'll always be my baby). I usually get friends to look after him, so I was nervous about boarding him. I visited Camp Bow Wow beforehand and one of the owners gave me a complete tour that put my mind at ease. They just bought the franchise this Spring and you can see they're putting all their work and heart into making it a success. It was clean, safe & spacious, and the staff was friendly. I liked the idea that he could play and be social during the day and only be crated at night. The online web cams are great, too. I knew I could check on him if I wanted to. The price was very good and it's "all inclusive", no additional charge to feed your own food, give medication or even have a larger enclosure. Plus he got a free bath for staying more than 5 days (so he doesn't smell "foreign" when you bring him home!) I was gone for almost 3 weeks and I was pretty nervous because my guy has bad separation anxiety. Turns out he managed to hurt himself trying to break out. But Camp Bow Wow took him to his vet and he got treatment right away. They all took great care of him and he was a happy camper when I came to pick him up. What could have been very stressful for me and the dog turned out fine. I know there was nothing they could have done to prevent the injury, he's a strong, smart dog who has done some really dumb (& scary) stuff even at home. That Camp Bow Wow handled the situation so well, is reassuring. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

This place is amazing!! Our dog loves Camp Bow Wow! He gets so excited when we tell him he is "going to camp" and can't wait to get in the door when we arrive. When we pick him up, he is always exhausted -- a great sign that he has been busy running around all day! My doggie spent his interview day on Saturday, April 25th. We were moving and I needed a place for him to relax and play while we worked. The staff informed me at the time I made my appointment that my dog would need a "quick release" collar which he already wears. When I arrived, parking was easy, entering Camp Bow Wow was easy, it's homey, I was greeted right away. The staffer took my eager dog, I watched him on the TV monitors for a bit and he seemed a little shy at first. They slowing introduced one new dog to him at a time, until he had met several dogs and did well with them. They allowed the rest of the pack into the play area and all went well. About 5 more minutes passed, maybe 10, a staffer came out, said my doggie was doing fine and I could leave whenever I felt comfortable. I like that they change the dog's atmosphere by going into and out of play areas. I like that there's some rest time, too. It appeared that there is plenty of staff to supervise and to clean. I bought a package that included three visits and a bath. I feel like it's a good value. Camp Bow Wow has been a great experience for my little dog, he's enjoying the socialization that he's learning at CBW. I read some of the negative comments and it sounds like some people didn't read their literature or listen when they made their first appointment, about having a quick release collar. CBW hours a clearly marked on their front door and on their literature and on their website, so I'm not sure how some folks weren't aware of the hours or pick-up times. I think if you're looking for a camp experience or a boarding place, that you should check CBW out for yourself. You get the first day free, and you can evaluate your own experience. We took our Lab to be boarded during our vacation and were very impressed with this organization. I have used many other boarding facilities and this was the best by far. WHAT ??? NO..... she was walking a mile a day with me and sleeps all the time on the back Concrete patio and has never had an issue ....now five days later she still only walks 5-8 steps and lays down... HAD TO CANCEL THANKSGIVING VACATION BECAUSE SHE CANT WALK AND GET IN AND OUT OF THE CAR NOW... .THIS IS JUST WRONG... they called me.......to tell me they didn't think it was a good idea to have her board there...REALLY!!!!
