I am so glad we took our dog to Camp Bow Wow. Their prices are so reasonable compared to other doggy daycares. They don't charge extra for giving medication during overnight visits. They have webcams that allow you to watch your dog either outside or inside the communal areas. I kind of wish they had individual camper cabin cams, but that would be unrealistic, I know. Most importantly, they seem to really care about making sure the dogs are comfortable and happy. When our holiday trip out of town got extended by a few days because of cancelled flights they were accommodating. The last day he was there he was starting to get a little antsy and irritated, so they called me and let me know they would give him more alone time in his cabin. They did want me to consider having our emergency contact come pick him up, but they were able to hold off until we got back, which I appreciated. My dog (an adopted Lhasa Apso) doesn't really do good with other dogs or people, but he seemed really chill while he was there. The dogs hang out in their cabins for a couple hours around noon, but otherwise are on camera most of the day. It made it a million times easier to be away when I could check on him. Also, the first day you visit for an interview is a free day of dog sitting! They just want you to be gone for at least a few hours to check how the dog handles it. read more

My family took our Labrador for many years, even into her elderly years. She was also excited to go to camp and all the staff knew her by name. They sent us a card full of memories they had with her after her passing, which was so sweet. Now I take my little Labrador puppy and she has a blast. The staff is incredible and so friendly. We dropped our pittie off here for only a couple hours while we were moving; what a terrible mistake. Jazmine is 65 lbs and very playful. When I picked her up, she was a shell of a dog with her tail between her legs. She had scratches and bite marks all over her body, her nose was all bloody and she wouldn't stop shaking. The next day, she came down with kennel cough and we had to spend hundreds at the vet. It took her a few days to come around and start acting like herself again. This is THE best doggie daycare around!! The staff actually loves being with and taking care of our dogs. I watch web video on the app and my dog gets attention from the staff, plays with the other dogs, swims, frolics and you name it!! Took my coonhound for an interview last week. She was introduced one by one to the other dogs and let in to join a group for play. I watched her on the cameras there and on my phone throughout the day. They explained how day care and boarding worked, gave me the tour, and answered all questions and concerns I had. She was taken out at lunch, given some kibble in a large private run for 90 minutes between morning and afternoon play groups. I would wholeheartedly recommend Camp Bow Wow! read more

I have two dogs -- a miniature Schnauzer and an Airedale terrier. I have been leaving my older dog there for over 5 years when I go away from a weekend to a couple weeks. The service is friendly enough, and I had very few issues when I started using Camp Bow Wow years ago. In the last year, however, the dogs have come back each time noticeably dirtier and smellier, and of the last three times, two of the times they returned with kennel cough. My dogs are both vaccinated and also have regular interaction with many dogs (at a dog park), and they have never had issues in other environments. Secondarily, I was told by one of the staff when I brought my dogs back last time that they were feeding them some brand of dog food because they did not have my dog food, which it turns out they had just misplaced. Regardless, they charged me for the food, which was something like $50 for a tiny bag. This is just another indication of poor management if you ask me. There are quite a few daycare/boarding businesses in the area, and I plan to try another option at this point. read more

Camp Bow Wow is amazing! I travel a lot for work and I have boarded my dog at a few different doggy daycare/ boarders and Camp Bow Wow is by for the cleanest facility with the most attentive staff. While I understand that it may be frustrating to receive a call while on vacation about your dog not feeling well, I personally prefer that to an experience that I had at a different kennel when I picked up my dog as scheduled only to find him violently ill only to find out that the staff "didn't notice." I genuinely believe that each staff member at Bow Wow treats each dog with the love and care that they would treat their own dog with and for that reason, I only board my beloved pup at Camp Bow Wow. read more

I called to set up an interview to see if my little guy would get along, he was only 7 months old and needed to be socialized more. I was worried b/c i didn't hear back the same day, but our app was held so that Lisa could do the interview. She is also a Shiba parent, so she was very excited. We dropped him off for his interview and he stayed the whole day! He had so much fun and was soooo tired when we picked him up after work. We take him at least once a week and he loves it! If we aren't going there but drive by he starts to whine and whimper because we aren't going to camp! All of the staff there treat my baby like their baby! They play with him, cuddle him, and love him like their own. I was nervous of leaving him alone with "strangers" all day but after just a couple times, they aren't strangers at all - just extended family. read more

The most professional dog daycare I've seen. The staff are constantly watching the dogs and ensuring the environment is clean. I know because you can watch with their iphone app while at work :-) At this point, they have been very helpful in accommodating my schedule which is hectic with school, work, and business travel. The Camp Bow Wow Home Buddies is also phenomenal. Robin is sure to text me after every dog walk to let me know that my Weimaraner is good to go. Got a call while on vacation to come pick my dog because they had shout down. Apparently there was an outbreak of parvo & kennel cough or some kind of nasty dog illness. I had to fight to get my full refund as I had pay extra to change my return date and hire someone else to get my dog. Never again will I send my poor pup to a kennel. Since then I now use professional sitter cost a little bit more but I and my pup have have never been happier. Run away from this place. read more

Great experience with Camp Bow Wow in South Windsor. I have left my dog there multiple times and he's always excited to go there. He gets out of the car and wants to rush in. Another place I took him to, he was as scared as when he goes to the vet. + dogs are free to roam around all day (other than at times when they eat or sleep), which is the best feature of this place + Staff is very friendly and genuinely care for the dogs and have fun doing so + kennels are very clean and are washed and sanitized daily + outdoor areas are also sanitized daily + great location for those around South Windsor The other reviewer had an unfortunate situation though I don't think such event describes the overall quality of this place. Given that dogs at this place have access to open areas, even after discovering the kennel cough, those areas could be contagious. I'd say Camp Bow Wow did the right thing to prevent more than one/a few dog(s) to get kennel cough. read more

I love Camp BowWow and more importantly my dog does. All I say is 'bow wow?' And he is running for the door. Love the convenience of dropping him off for daycare whenever he needs it. He comes home tired and happy. The staff is great, they know him even though we only go once a week usually. I love watching the camera. My dog is playful but staff gives him pets when he goes looking for attention too. They also give him his dramamine before I pick him up since he gets carsick. It's also great you can add on a bath and nail grinding when needed. He has also stayed for vacation and seemed to do well with being away even though he is a mamma's boy. Our dog LOVES Camp Bow Wow! She gets SO excited every time she's headed there and comes home happy and exhausted. We have been thrilled with their boarding treatment and the price is pretty darn good, too. They offer "nap time" for puppies who get sleepy or need a break during the day, great real-time video on their website, and of course different play areas for different sized dogs. They are very good about health issues too, and have (admittedly inconveniently) sent our pup home or to the vet to make sure she didn't have an infected cut or illness. That makes me feel good knowing that any other dog who might be infected was sent home, too. read more

As a first-time dog owner, I was originally very pleased with Camp Bow Wow but looking back, I was a bit naive. The facility is ok and most of the staff are friendly and helpful, but when I had an emergency and needed help they turned me away, and I was forced to find another camp. When I took my pup to a new camp, it was a significantly cleaner, nicer, more welcoming environment. The play area is bigger and less crowded. I was truly shocked at the difference. Love the home buddies service! We have used them numerous times for our vacations. They are trustworthy, respectful, and communicate often. They text frequently while visiting and even send us pics of our dogs! They follow any directions we leave pertaining to the dogs and give our poor neurotic gsp his pills for thunderstorms. A really great and reliable service. A side note - we have also boarded at camp bow wow for our Pomeranian, which was great. We could watch him on the live stream while we were away which we loved. I moved from Utah where I took my dog to camp bow wow there and was a little nervous about trying out a new one. However I have to say that this camp bow wow is far better than the other one! When I go there I feel like I'm meeting up with an old friend because of their warmth and kindness toward my dog. My dog Natalie gets nervous going to doggy daycare but here she actually gets excited when we pull into the parking lot. The fact that they have cameras that I can watch on an app on my phone makes me happy as I can check in on my dog at any time. They are the only place I trust to cut my dogs nails as she is a squirmer and they treat her so well. I moved over an hour away from them but still will not take my dog anywhere else! Camp Bow Wow South Windsor is truthfully as good as it gets. My dog has been going to CBW for about 3 years. Every single staff member treats her with the highest level of care. I know when I walk out that door and leave my dog in their hands, she is among the best of the best. They are all so caring and continuously go above and beyond to make sure both my family and our dog are completely satisfied with their services. They've helped uncover behavioral issues, food allergy issues, skin rash issues, anxiety issues when leaving her for an extended time (mine more than the dog's!!), illnesses...the list goes on and on. I've researched other facilities in the area to see how their prices and services compare, and it is clear that Camp Bow Wow rises above their competition. Their prices are a STEAL and I often buy the staff lunch or try to do something nice for them because they are all such hard workers. Aside from the staff being so wonderful, the facility itself is nice, too! The grounds are kept clean, the kennels are wiped down & sanitized several times a day, as are the play yards. The staff allows you to come and walk around the facility so you can see exactly where your dog plays/naps. She hid in the corner outside for the first two days but with the staff's encouragement and patience, she slowly started to engage in play. My 7 month old puppy has been going to Camp Bow Wow since he was of age, and he loves it! We go at least once a week and sometimes twice. I can monitor him on the web cam directly from work. Yes, are there moments I may not be happy with the service? Sometimes....but, that's just with any "babysitter" service. In regards to the other review, I think it shows poor dog ownership if you feel that "vacation was ruined" because of a kennel cough outbreak. I would hope that you were concerned for your dogs health and safety first as a licer chicken outbreak at a school. It's daycare- human or dog- and these things happen. I commend Bow Wow for how they handled the situation, and if you didn't have an alternative plan for your dog before your vacation- you are the only one to blame. read more

I tried camp bow wow for my dog Jack and it wasn't a good experience. I went on vacation for a week and when I came back he lost about 2-3 lbs because he stopped eating. No one told me when I picked him up. I can't believe people who care about dogs would let one go without eating, send him home with over half the food he came with and then not even tell the owner. Poor little guy isn't going back there again. read more
