Everyone that works for them including the owner is fantastic. They let them out, feed them and even give them medication. When we go on long trips they always send text message updates and sent pics of our fur babies. I would highly recommend them especially if your pets don't do well at the kennel. We know when we are away our animals are well taken care ok.

The Doc is a great man he is very caring about animals, BUT, getting back to the quote for what you want done. The last visit was $300, I ended up paying for Blood work test's that is NOT what is required in the state, there is another shot that is not required it is a shot for Lyme Disease. My dog is in the house 90 % of the time, she only goes outside for her Bathroom issues, and walks down the sidewalks. I will be requesting the Rabies shot only going forward. Like I said the Doctor is a very nice man and he knows animals, but buyer be aware of unnecessary charges.

People here have complained about the wait time and there is a reason for that wait time. Unlike other vets and animal hospitals, you will not be rushed. You are given the time needed to give your furbaby the best care possible. If it goes over the standard care time so be it. Yes others will wait but if the time comes that YOU need extra time with the vet, you will get the same excellent treatment and the time needed for your pet to be best cared for. It amazes me these days how people don't notice when there is not a revolving door for patients. He is accepting patients on and off over the year as people move etc. You'll still want to give them a call either way. If you have a question, Doctor Pennington will call you back during his phone "call back" times which is usually after 5pm est. The staff are very knowledgeable and will usually know whether or not your question can be answered over a phone call or if your furbaby would need to be seen. They have been working at the office for a very long time and if for some reason they don't know, they will check with the doctor. Regardless of how we feel about it, sometimes the questions can only be answered with the pet present and an appointment is needed. He's not going to just tell you what you want to hear. As for cost, he is actually very good for this area. And if you have a budget you need to let the staff know. They will work with you to keep within your budget and get the best care for your pet. There are almost always medication and treatment options!

My mother has had Linda take care of her cat at home for over eight years, whenever my mother is out of town for more than a day. Linda was recommended by a Glastonbury veterinarian and has had a key to mom's house, watered plants, taken in mail and newspapers, lets the cat in and out, and of course feeds him and checks the litter box for a per visit fee. My mom noticed that Linda's website said she now boards some dogs in her home for a daily (or half-day, if that's all you need) rate. My mom got me in touch with Linda who requested I bring my little chihuahua over several days before my trip so that they could meet and I could see the arrangements and make sure I didn't have any concerns or questions left unanswered. Linda has a great big fenced in yard for the dogs to play and exercise in, and lots of crates, gates and blankets so that all you need to provide is food (and treats if you'd like). Everything went well, the three other dogs that were at the house when I arrived (only one lives there) were all let outside so that Bailey could walk in and get comfortable without the distraction of the other dogs wanting to play. I also completed a form while visiting about things such as what kind of food I use, how much food and exercise Bailey gets daily, and who the vet is and if certain vaccines were up to date. I warned that Bailey has refused to eat once or twice when I was gone and Linda said she's dealt with similar situations before and has always found a way to get them to eat, even if it means cooking them eggs (right, she also asked about any food allergies in case it came to that)! Well I went on my trip and got a picture of Bailey texted to me the next day, then another picture her second day there of Bailey stretched out on Linda's lap outside enjoying the fire pit (the same way Bailey lays on my lap nightly on the couch). I texted at one point to make sure Bailey was eating and Linda said she did have to hand-feed her sometimes but she did get her to eat (and she was fed away from the other dogs, in her own space). It was a great experience and I will definitely be using this service again and recommend it for anyone that needs their dog boarded. Also, keep in mind that other places that board dogs (in kennels) are businesses with employees that leave early in the evening and don't return until morning, so there could be 12 (YES TWELVE) consecutive hours that no one is there to let the animals out to relieve themselves, that is not the kind of attention, or lack thereof, the animals receive in Linda's home where people are there throughout the night. Linda and Jack were great and you can tell they truly are animal lovers.

They have webcams that allow you to watch your dog either outside or inside the communal areas. I kind of wish they had individual camper cabin cams, but that would be unrealistic, I know. Most importantly, they seem to really care about making sure the dogs are comfortable and happy. When our holiday trip out of town got extended by a few days because of cancelled flights they were accommodating. The last day he was there he was starting to get a little antsy and irritated, so they called me and let me know they would give him more alone time in his cabin. They did want me to consider having our emergency contact come pick him up, but they were able to hold off until we got back, which I appreciated. My dog (an adopted Lhasa Apso) doesn't really do good with other dogs or people, but he seemed really chill while he was there. The dogs hang out in their cabins for a couple hours around noon, but otherwise are on camera most of the day. It made it a million times easier to be away when I could check on him. Also, the first day you visit for an interview is a free day of dog sitting! They just want you to be gone for at least a few hours to check how the dog handles it.

I was met by a very nice tech and vet, who were very swift with putting my pup out of her misery, even though it was a cold, brightly lit room, not peaceful at all for me. However, I couldn't afford the cremation right away and I was told I would have to take her home. I asked if they would put her in something and I was told yes, but they handed me her wrapped in an old towel and told me to put her in the freezer. I was devastated hearing this. Not only did I not have a freezer large enough, but I would have to wait five days to get the money together for cremation. Thankfully, on Monday, my regular vet took her in and took very good care of her until cremation. I've always said good success using this hospital, but this hurt my heart.

The staff at this location are super friendly and knowledgeable of their adoptable pets. I also appreciated the fact that kittens go home to foster families until they are adopted and are only at the East Hartford location on Saturdays by appointment only. Ivy's foster family even provided the most adorable card, heartfelt note, and Ivy's favorite toys to bring with her new home. I rave about this place to family, friends, and coworkers anytime they ask about Ivy. I strongly recommend anyone who is ready to take on the next step of adopting a new member of their family to do so with Protectors of Animals!

So in the same month we lost Bo, we adopted, fell in love with, and accumulated a huge vet bill, just to have our sweet puppy die. Do not "adopt" from here. It's a scam that will break your heart and your wallet.

I will never go back and half mind to call the authorities bc they have a vet who is in capable of handling animals.

The surgical experience really taught me a lot about the veterinary practice. As someone who is new to Connecticut, I wasn't sure which vet to trust. The team was clear with me at every step of the way about what was happening and would happen with my dog's treatment. They explained the pricing and charged me in alignment with their projections. My dog is happy to go to the vet now, which says a lot! Jessica and Carla at the Windsor office are welcoming and helpful.

Happy Cat Hotel is the greatest place for cat lovers to board their cats when they have to be left behind. My fiancee and I went to Disney (where he proposed!) in October 2015 so we couldn't bring our two tabbies, Chloe and Tony, with us. They're both rescues, a few years apart, and I was uncomfortable with the idea of them being locked in crates somewhere while we were away. I looked into several boarding locations and HCH made the top of my list as soon as I found it because of the "hotel guest" approach they take with their boarders and the fact that it's a "cats only" accommodation. They emailed us pictures every day during our trip to ease our minds, even telling us of their adventures. (Tony is a grey tabby named after Tony Stark for his personality. He apparently had lots of superhero training while we were gone!) The experience was overwhelmingly pleasant and easy and we have boarded them on a few other occasions. They remember the cats as well and always make it feel like we're giving our cats a vacation too. The rooms have the guests' names outside, and the second time we boarded them they had a picture of RDJ as Tony Stark on the chalkboard in place of the name of the guest. It's little personal touches like these that make HCH the best place next to home for any cat to spend a vacation while their people are away! read more

We love this place. What a great idea. Our cat Lulu gets a room with a window because she loves to nap in the sun and watch birds and squirrels. Before Happy Cat Hotel we'd have a neighbor come feed her if we had to be out of town. But she's developed Inflammatory Bowel Disease and has to take a pill every other day. My neighbor has no idea how to pill a cat, nor would I ask her to. Happy Cat Hotel is affiliated with a local vet, will consult with Lulu's vet should an emergency arise, and has experienced vet techs for pilling and injections as needed by chronically ill cats. They will also do grooming so she usually has a nail clipping while there. The other staff are so tuned into cats it's kind of amazing. Every day we received a photo of Lulu exploring her room or cozy in one of the many cat shelves on the walls. She really enjoyed her Lobby Time where she was allowed to roam free with the staff in the lobby. She slept on laptops, demanded brushing and petting, patrolled counters and monitored the fish tank, just as she would at home. There is a small additional fee for pick up after hours so we are always able to bring her home as we leave Bradley airport which is 10 minutes away. We consider this place a bargain and are very fond of the staff, especially Torie and owner Chris. read more

In the past, when I've traveled I've had friends or pet sitters come in to feed, visit with, and do other necessary duties with my cats. I now have 2 who require regular meds -- one, twice a week, and the other, twice a day. So having folks come to the house to (a) locate (b) root out of whatever hidey-hole and (c) dose these kitties, while not traumatizing the other two, is impractical, to say the least. I tried "medical boarding" at the vet, which was wildly unsuccessful. Happy Cat Hotel was a wonderful and refreshing change -- they could accommodate all 4 cats in their own room, with plenty of space to move around or get away from one another by climbing to an upper perch. The kitties certainly seemed to enjoy their extended stay -- Woody and Isabelle took advantage of opportunities to roam the halls, while Willy and Kate were content to burrow and nap. I knew they were being fed, petted, played with, and medicated as needed, and enjoyed (and shared) the photo updates in my email. I came home to relaxed, well-cared-for cats. This experience really lifts a huge burden, as now I know I can leave my cat family safely and, dare I say, happily, when I travel or need to be away from home for a few days. read more

Our cat needed to be groomed immediately he had been sick and was a real mess he had poop all over half his body. When they heard what the problem was the groomer came in and groomed him that evening. I don't know how she did it it was a huge mess we tried at home but he would scream and fight us all the way. She put him in a bath and washed him and trimmed where he needed trimming and dried him and brushed him until he was beautiful and fluffy. He was relaxed and happy when we picked him up. We left him at a vets when we went on vacation a couple years ago and he cried and would not eat he lost four pounds. It wasn't that they didn't try but he was in a cage and he has never been caged. Happy Cat has rooms he can move all around in, climb if he wants its not restrictive it's more like home. We will use Happy Cat anytime we travel because the staff are wonderful and love their jobs you can see the care they give the cats. It is such a relaxed atmosphere.We can;t say enough about them they are wonderful.... read more

We have brought our boys, Tedy and Jacob to the Happy Cat Hotel a few times now. They are the only place in the region and even coast I believe that offer what they do. Their staff is amazing, very friendly and accommodating. They take such good care of our furry babies! And they make sure to send you pictures every couple days so that you can see how they are doing. The accomodations are spacious and very clean and our boys love staying there! They sometimes don't want to come home at first, they love it so much! They even took care of the newest addition to our family, our guinea pig, Julian. They did an excellent job with him as well. I don't think we would ever go on vacation if it wasn't for all the staff at The Happy Cat Hotel. If you love your furry friends like they are your babies, then there is no other place you should board them! read more

"The Happy Cat is THE place for your cat ! Feel nervous about leaving your family member behind when you go away? Take them with you ( their video image that is ) and you won't feel guilty having fun on the beach or by the pool if you can watch them having fun playing or just doing nothing while they take a cat nap... No little cages in rows with other cats meowing and making a racket- your little cat will have fun in their own nice quiet private room ( with a view ) in complete safety. The owners are" Cat People" so rest assured. We can now go away and not feel guilty that our little Rory was left home. There are not enough starts to tell you how wonderful The Happy Cat Hotel is. When we had to leave on a long term trip, we delivered our cats from Iowa. There is no other place in the world we would consider leaving our babies, Lily and Weasel. We knew they were safe and profoundly well cared for. We knew they would not be pent up in a small cage but instead would get lots of exercise and stimulation and would never be lonely. And they were wonderful about staying in communication with us, sending us updates and photos, which truly melted away any sadness about having to leave our kitties for awhile. We have left our cats at Happy Cat Hotel twice in the past few months for 10 days each time. They are two young cats and we weren't sure how they would react since they normally have the run of the house. They were very well taken care of, did not seem to mind the smaller space to run around (their private room at Happy Cat was much larger than the space you get at other places) and they weren't upset with us when we got home. I have been to Happy Cat Hotel several times on a professional basis. The facility is impeccably clean. Each room has excellent climate control with plenty of room for the cats. Safety of the cats staying with them is always at the fore front for the staff. They have an excellent understanding of medical issues, they know their boarders very well and are very observant of even the slightest changes with the cats. This place is a godsend. Our cat has diabetis and must have two insulin shots a day. The folks at Happy Cat take care of this and more. Its a clean, friendly and well run homey spot. Each room with a theme and also one on one time with each cat out in a safe open area. Lots of toys and cozy sleeping spots as well. Very professional and caring owners/managers. I cannot express how pleased I am with the grooming services provided for my cats. Not only did my cats come out looking absolutely stunning, but they also seemed happy and content, which speaks volumes about the quality of care they received. Skittles LOVES to go to Happy Cat Hotel. The people there are great and really love cats. The individual rooms are always spotless and each has its own theme and cat spaces. The cats take turns wandering around the office and playing with the staff each day. My wife found the Happy Cat Hotel online and we found their website easy to use, informative and with pictures of each of the rooms. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Happy Cat Hotel is a wonderful place, an ideal cat boarding facility. Each cat has its own "living room," imaginatively themed and scrupulously clean. There are all sorts of toys, multi-level shelves for climbing cats, and cozy pod beds for shy cats. The staffers are real cat people, and see the cats as individuals, cheerfully accommodating dietary and other needs. Fabulous place. Great people, great rooms, great set up. Found it to be the same price as boarding my cat here as in a cage. Here, she got specialized attention, including "lobby time." They keep the door locked, and one cat is let out at a time to spend time roaming around and playing with staff. Amazing boarding facility that is very clean with excellent caring staff. Each designer room has beds and entertainment for the guest. They take excellent care of our special needs cats. They alerted us to a health issue that we wouldn't have noticed as quickly. We are so appreciative of this! My cats are happy, relaxed, and have clearly been given attention during their stay. Best place in CT for cats. I travel a lot and it breaks my heart to leave my big boy Apple behind.... I have tried all the places but Happy Cat Hotel made it so easy. They would be responsive everyday, sending cute photos, updates etc. Knowing all is ok everyday made it easy on both me and my cat. He loves the place and its arrangements as well! I am not sure if it is discrimination or miss communication but I did not see any big issue going on but cats meow kept telling me to look at another cat resort as my cat has been to a couple in the past and no issues. It was kind of misleading and confusing on the businesses end. Update the cats meow also told the other cats owner that they cannot take him due to behavior issues. But they told me a different reason.

Not only did Mark and his team do a great job caring for my cat but they also took in the mail and turned on the lights at night. I felt secure having them at my house which was an added bonus. I tried explaining that he prefers being shaved in the summer as he's a long hair triple coated cat and has always been more energetic in the summer with a fresh cut, and she said no. It's what neglectful owners do. Eventually I let her clean him and brush his hair as he has been playing on the balcony more often lately due to the weather, and when I got him back, there was no difference. He was sticky as if they used no rinse shampoo on him and to set it off, there was a bug on the carrier when I picked him up! The lady just flicked it off and I had to throw out the carrier as I thought it could be fleas. Do not bring your pet here!

They were able to do the routine stuff however their ability for anything beyond yearly check up is severely lacking. We had 2 pets there, first a chocolate lab that was a senior, over 10 years old. They were alright, however Dr Dan saw him once and scared us so bad said he had some kind of heart issue and we may need to get him to an emergency vet ASAP, then came back and said he was fine. We did have him looked at an emergency vet and they could find nothing wrong with him. We let that slide, unprofessional and poor bedside manors but whatever. Then about a year later, just this past February, he was very lethargic and having issues, we called and they said it didn't seem like an emergency and they can get him in about 3 weeks. We decided to go to the emergency vet and in a matter of hours he was gone, I understand how busy it can get but the amount they just shrugged us off was disappointing for being with them for so long. Also he was on prescription food, they refused to give the prescription to Chewy and required we go through their own online store. We did, after he passed we got another delivery of his food, a few weeks later we called and asked about a refund in which they said they do not have a process to refund orders for pets who have passed. I explained to them how Chewy handles that situation, I spoke with Devon, he seemed nice however never actually called me back and gave me an answer one way or the other. I called him back again, he said he was "still working on it" and would get back to me by the end of the day. That was 3 days ago and no word at all. Mind you I was asking for a $130 refund after spending $3160 with them in a matter of 4 weeks. Not long after this our other dog, an 8 year old boxer mix needed a mole removed. They performed the operation and from there it went down hill quick. He developed a severe infection close to where the operation was, we brought him back, they did a quick test and gave us an antibiotic. He did not get better at all and kept getting worse, we went back there paid over $600 for additional tests were given a different antibiotic but still having issues. We called this morning to ask about a different form of medicine, maybe a compounded liquid. You would have thought I asked them to launch a space shuttle, nobody had any idea and "needed to consult the vet and get back to us". It took 3 hours to get a call back and they said try hiding the pill in a marshmallow, that was literally their only response. I expressed kindly that I feel my pet is not getting the care he needs and expressed my dissatisfaction that they seem to just just guessing at things and effectively throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks. After I expressed that they then said they can send over a prescription to a pharmacy in southington but I was not able to get the prescription myself. They then followed up with an email giving me the pharmacy info and the info of other emergency vet offices and said we should consider a different vet. This was not an issue because I was already looking for a different one. Overall they seem like at best the practice is poorly managed, the doctors and also front desk associates seem to never actually know what's going on or provide any kind of useful information. Honestly the techs that work there are the only bright spot and must be what is keeping them in business. If you need just a basic checkup and "tech" appointment they are alright, if you need an actual vet / doctor appointment unfortunately they seem to not have the skill and ability to properly care for pets beyond the very basics. Overall a very expensive and disappointing experience and worst of all I believe both of my pets received poor care which created more issues and suffering for them.

The office was clean, intake was professional, and everyone I spoke to was a real animal-lover. Dr. Dan was kind and candid and encouraged me to ask any and all questions -- he was also able to cite recent research in the field, which was a big plus for me. Checkup fee seemed standard, and the doctor was totally transparent with me about the cost/benefit of additional tests. My cat probably wasn't thrilled about the whole thing, but it was way better than vet experiences we've had in the past -- and the peace of mind (they're responsive to email/phone queries) is awesome. Recommend!

My kinda cafe! I…read morelove visiting cat cafés and it's so great to see them popping up across the state more frequently. I bought tickets for me and my mom online and getting into the cat café was very easy. Plenty of parking is available and the café portion of the storefront looks right into the cat room. There were enough cats for everyone inside to find someone to play with, even if some of the little friends were tired. You must take your shoes off to go into the cat room, but if you dont have socks, there are some available for purchase. Definitely will return soon!

I didn't use pooped as the adjective as I wanted to save that for a verb, as in, after they had Nappies, it was all time to use the box. still have my painting, I will love it forever, and cat box can trigger that fond memory (olfactory, look it up) second time was day visit with a scout group, goofballs everywhere, much more catching ;) one of us almost even adopted, but alas, wasn't in the cats. coffee was good.

These people talked to me like I was an idiot, and instead of using their brains that hold veterinary knowledge, they chose to rack up the bill with a ridiculous amount of x-rays all costing 100$, a rabies shot we didn't ask for, and after a 1,000$ bill, told us it MIGHT be an infection. What the hell am I paying you for if not to tell me what's wrong with my cat? They did nothing for her swollen foot besides tell me it would never go away, and had NO idea what the growth on her toe bean was and said worst case we have to AMPUTATE. This is a dying company and rightfully so, they are money hungry and don't care about your cat at all. If you want your cat to feel better, take them literally anywhere else, do NOT give this company the money they so desperately crave.
