I am a very picky person when it comes to my dogs and I have to say that I am extremely happy with Free Range. Tim and all the staff truly care for all the dogs and they get plenty of exercise and attention. I love that they all play together and are able to socialize- my dogs love the "pack" mentality. I have been using this day care for years and would recommend it to anyone who needs a day or overnight boarding. If I could give six stars I would!

Ivan never came but when we spoke to him, he explained that someone new was handling appointments and did not record it as an in-home training session. He rescheduled to come on July 20th. He came and the session went well. He emailed us homework and videos and we scheduled the next session for August 3rd. Ivan came on August 3rd and promised to send new homework and videos. We scheduled our next session for August 15th. We never received the homework and videos as promised. We repeatedly sent texts and left messages on his cell phone and he failed to respond. We also told him that we needed to reschedule our August 15th appointment and got no response. On August 13th we informed him that services were not rendered as agreed upon and asked him to refund the remaining two lessons. We told him that if this was not done promptly, he left us with no other choice but to turn the matter over to our attorney, contact the Better Busness Bureau and go on websites where clients leave reviews of his business. Unfortunately we went on Yelp now and saw that he has done he same exact thing to other clients.

While Ivan is a very talented dog trainer, he struggles immensely to run a competent business. Our…read morefirst lesson on 7/20 went well, the training was spot on and we received a copy of the homework we were to work on before our next lesson. On 8/4 Ivan texted an hour before our scheduled lesson that he would not be able to make the appointment because his landlord drove a forklift into his car. This lesson was not rescheduled, because one was already scheduled for 8/11. Our second lesson went great, but we never received a homework sheet. We texted Ivan to let him know we had not received the homework sheet. There was no response, and no homework sheet was sent. Our next lesson was scheduled for 8/17, that day Ivan was also going to transport our dog Luna to his boarding facility for a three-day stay. The morning of 8/17 we received a text and call from Ivan stating that he was not feeling well and that he was going to cancel the lesson. He informed us his employee Jenn would come and get Luna, that he would sign Luna up for day training while boarding, and he would send us a report and video of what to work on when she returned home. To this day there has never been a report card or training video shared with us. Luna was picked up from boarding on 8/21. After she was picked up we had many concerns, including Luna was reportedly still sleeping at 11am, that she had soaked her blanket in urine, and we later found out Ivan took Luna to his house without getting our permission to do so. We texted Ivan we had concerns and he was very responsive and he called right away. He stated he would talk to his employees and that we could discuss our thoughts further during our lesson on the weekend of 8/25. However, we texted Ivan on 8/23 that he was mistaken and there was no lesson scheduled for the weekend of 8/25. We never received a response or attempt to schedule a lesson. On 8/25 we texted Ivan we were not okay with the current state of not receiving the paid-for lessons, as our last one was 8/11 and we did not have any future lessons scheduled. Ivan reached out to discuss our text but we were unable to talk on the phone at that time. We said we could speak the following evening after 6 pm. Ivan texted back stating he was not free until after 8 pm on 8/26. On 8/26 we texted Ivan at 9 pm asking to speak the following evening (8/27) as we had just started the school year( we are educators) and were got home late. We never received a response to that text. After not having heard from Ivan for 5 days on 8/30 at 2pm we received a call from Alex (an employee) asking to schedule our next lesson, despite not having discussed our concerns or heard from Ivan. We texted Ivan and Alex's numbers to say we had received the voicemail from Alex and we were not happy with the lack of communication and thought it best to discontinue lessons and requested a refund. We did not receive a response, other than Alex texting to ask if we had received his voicemail, but nothing from Ivan. Due to 8/30 being a holiday weekend, we gave Ivan the benefit of the doubt and texted again on 9/3. We reiterated that we had requested a refund on 8/30 and had not heard a response from him. Ivan responded that evening stating that he had a death in the family and that is why we had not heard from him since 8/25 (9 days) and offering to find a time now to talk. We let him know that we did not want to talk and instead, based on the experience we had with him, we wanted to find someone who was less busy and more local. We also stated that best business practices should be, if you were going to be out of touch for 9 days your employees should inform your clients on your behalf. Ivan stated we could not just end the lessons but instead, we needed to talk because his impression was that we wanted to discontinue lessons due to being upset about simple things like, never receiving the shirts that we sent to boarding for Luna's comfort, and not having received Luna's video in a timely fashion (we never received a video). We stated we would not have time to talk on the phone and since he offered email would be preferred. Ivan stated he would write something and send it over. To date, our last communication from Ivan was a text on 9/4 that he would send us an email. Today is 9/11, one week later, and we have not received anything. We even sent an email to him on 9/8 with a detailed timeline of our concerns and have had no response. Regardless of whatever personal attack Ivan will more than likely launch our way, as we heard him speak poorly of other clients who have given negative reviews. The bottom line is that services were not rendered as agreed upon. We are not interested in tarnishing anyone's reputation, but without having received a refund which we have requested three times, and without any communication from the business, we are left with few other options. We have also filed a complaint with the BBB.

At drop‑off, on May 8, 2026, the front desk employee with black hair and facial piercings was neither friendly nor professional. She was abrupt, showed no patience with our dog Frankie, and even tossed the leash toward me while saying, "You need to put this on him," simply because he was afraid of her. This occurred in a full lobby, which made the interaction even more uncomfortable. When we returned for pick‑up on May 10, 2026, the employee assisting us was polite and professional. However, the same staff member from May 8, 2026, came out again and rudely said, "One of you needs to go get your dog, and if he keeps acting like this he can't come back." She did not tell me where I needed to go to get Frankie, and when I asked, she simply pointed toward the door. What makes this even more concerning is that Frankie's report card stated he was "such a great boy," "well‑behaved," and "a pleasure to have," and that he "had a great time in the courtyard with his siblings." Clearly, the issue was not Frankie's behavior but the employee's attitude toward him. When I expressed my concern to the polite staff member behind the desk, instead of acknowledging the situation or saying she would inform management, she told me we could "try one more time," but if Frankie "acts up again," we wouldn't be allowed to return. This response was disappointing and did not address the unprofessional conduct we experienced.

I was looking to get away for a long weekend without burdening a friend and asking someone to stop…read moreby and feed and walk my dog (Bailey) 3 times a day when my mom had an idea. My mother has had Linda take care of her cat at home for over eight years, whenever my mother is out of town for more than a day. Linda was recommended by a Glastonbury veterinarian and has had a key to mom's house, watered plants, taken in mail and newspapers, lets the cat in and out, and of course feeds him and checks the litter box for a per visit fee. My mom noticed that Linda's website said she now boards some dogs in her home for a daily (or half-day, if that's all you need) rate. My mom got me in touch with Linda who requested I bring my little chihuahua over several days before my trip so that they could meet and I could see the arrangements and make sure I didn't have any concerns or questions left unanswered. Linda has a great big fenced in yard for the dogs to play and exercise in, and lots of crates, gates and blankets so that all you need to provide is food (and treats if you'd like). Everything went well, the three other dogs that were at the house when I arrived (only one lives there) were all let outside so that Bailey could walk in and get comfortable without the distraction of the other dogs wanting to play. I also completed a form while visiting about things such as what kind of food I use, how much food and exercise Bailey gets daily, and who the vet is and if certain vaccines were up to date. I warned that Bailey has refused to eat once or twice when I was gone and Linda said she's dealt with similar situations before and has always found a way to get them to eat, even if it means cooking them eggs (right, she also asked about any food allergies in case it came to that)! Well I went on my trip and got a picture of Bailey texted to me the next day, then another picture her second day there of Bailey stretched out on Linda's lap outside enjoying the fire pit (the same way Bailey lays on my lap nightly on the couch). I texted at one point to make sure Bailey was eating and Linda said she did have to hand-feed her sometimes but she did get her to eat (and she was fed away from the other dogs, in her own space). It was a great experience and I will definitely be using this service again and recommend it for anyone that needs their dog boarded. Also, keep in mind that other places that board dogs (in kennels) are businesses with employees that leave early in the evening and don't return until morning, so there could be 12 (YES TWELVE) consecutive hours that no one is there to let the animals out to relieve themselves, that is not the kind of attention, or lack thereof, the animals receive in Linda's home where people are there throughout the night. Linda and Jack were great and you can tell they truly are animal lovers.
