The horses are amazing and well taken care of, and there are lessons, horses and options for every age, discipline, experience, and comfortability. Miss Pam is so incredibly kind and a wonderful instructor- my lesson day is my favorite day of the week, and the highlight of my week every time. I highly recommend Son Rise to anyone wanting to start riding!

** Abbreviated version of the review**…read more They have you sign a waiver and if your child gets hurt they do not have any protocols on how to tend to the hurt child. They will ignore a child with a potentially serious spinal injury. The long version: We had a child's 11th birthday party at this establishment on 6/23/23. We had three 11 year olds and one 9 year old. The 9 year old is very small for his age. He wears 7 year old clothing. And weighs 60 pounds. When dismounting the horse the teacher (Monica) was standing at the horse to assist him down. She saw he was scared and holding on to the saddle because he didn't want to fall. She pried his hands off the saddle and then didn't catch him or ease the fall. Even though she was standing there. Our 9 yo landed with his knees locked and immediately started crying and grabbing his back saying "My back! My back!" At which point Monica completely ignored him and his cries. As I rushed to asses the situation since I was standing 2 feet from where everything happened and I witnessed it all. Monica carried on with the next horse. The next horse was the bday girl, and our daughter. She asked Monica what happened to her brother? To which Monica replied: "He'll be fine!" In the meantime the 9 year old had had the wind knocked out of him and was having a hard time breathing and still holding his lower back and crying. Neither Monica or Pamela who was outside the riding area and didn't have a full view came to him/us or assisted him/us. They *never* checked on him or checked in with him. They didn't even acknowledge a child got hurt. We were so busy scrambling to asses his injury, while checking urgent care hours, and seeing if he could calm down and breathe we were there for another 20-30 mins after. They had plenty of time to check in with us and our son. They completely ignored the issue. When we were on our way out Pam said "Well he looks like he's walking fine!" We left and texted Son Rise Ranch the next day letting Pam know our son was doing ok but that we wanted to discuss the incident with her and that we were disappointed that the teachers entrusted with his safety didn't seem to care that he got hurt. She said oh Monica wanted to make sure all the kids got off the horse safely. Again, Monica *never* even acknowledged the child that landed started crying and grabbed his back and cried "My back! My back!" We initially had several text messages with Pam. She was asking if we'd still like a call, which we said yes. We didn't hear from Pam again. If you want a place that cares about your child when they get hurt, please take your child elsewhere. If we hadn't been there to rush to our child, they would've ignored him with a potentially serious spinal injury.

They also allow group leaders to treat paying members in a rude faction sort of like they are entitled. Also, when you point out on the phone that they mishandled the scheduling error, and you make the comment so much for equity and inclusion they hang up on you. Isn't that just how it is when you point out the inequity, they shut you down. So much for fairness and justice for the individual.

She expressed that I am her caregiver gave permission verbally and signed ROIs. They would not get back to me for ever, I had to call the main office. When they did, there were more things to sign, then she was told we would revisit the safety meeting Aug 18, then she was told the fallowing Thursday she had to be out that's tomorrow! She is not assertive, she doesn't speak up, she is scared and overwhelmed (which is why you needed to work with me). She is quiet and respects everyone, she cleans up after herself and others! Why is this an OK thing to do? Shame on you YWCA!! If you're resident has a caregiver you need to work with that person. Shame on you!! You have been more of a hindrance than help, she was given a list of not local apartments, offered to pay her 1st month, she has no income. Shame On you!! For causing her more anxiety and stress than she already had. Shame on you! I deeply love those I provide care for! I feel this is unacceptable.

Their website has numerous references to assistance for low-income seniors (I'm 69) re: case mgmnt services, referrals and or "assistance" w finding housing, access to food ( when I inquired about receiving food I was given a sm plastic bag containing 3 cans of food; one of green beans, 1 can red kidney beans and a can of peas). When I call and or talk to staff members who say they work with seniors, I am always told that they are not really offering services to seniors right now except rhe occasional onsite elder LGTPQ+ parties (that staff also attend) and, zoom literary presentations (which are quite good but are these the extensive senior services that the website is referring to?) Plus I once brought in some of my nicer clothes, ( that no longer fit) freshly laundered and or dry cleaned to donate. Maybe 12 items, colorful and in excellent condition. The staff member who accepted them did not offer any appreciation or gesture of gratitude but held up each closely scrutinizing each one, in front of another staff person ( I don't know if the woman who did this is there any longer? I didn't catch her name ..?) They do have a nice fitness area, and classes ( I've always had to pay extra for) except for a brief art therapy session / wkshop which was wonderful! Also they have food donated ( which the staff also take) including sourdough bread and potted herbs from Trader Joe's. I think the place has a sound vision and philosophy as stated on their website. But it's not quite like this in reality. Plus the website says everything is offered free of charge. This is not true. They would not let me touch a computer or anything else for that matter, until I paid for a membership. I DO qualify for one that is subsidized so I appreciate that! Though now I am a bit afraid to visit very often because one of the last times I visited the front desk person and a houseless person seemed to be having an argument. The houseless person got violent and began swinging a large bat type thing. It was frightening to witness tho I've been in a few times since then. Also one more BIG thing to mention; the director replaced all of my keys that were lost there, paying for all of them! I will be forever indebted for her kindness!! And last but not least; Damien at the front desk is one of the kindest people I have ever met! Always, thoughtful, always gentle and ALWAYS friendly!
