Last summer 2018 was our first summer at Galileo and I'm glad that we tried it. One child did two weeks there and the other did three weeks and they both loved their experience so much that they begged me to sign them up for it this summer 2019! The kids really learned so much where they were excited about what they learned and wanted to share it at home. I really enjoyed the different themes that the camp has with the creative themes. The songs, art, science, math - truly embodies STEAM at its best. The camp counselors are really great and the program manager is really wonderful with welcoming each child. My daughter attended this camp last year pre-COVID and ever since then I continue to get weekly emails about their latest virtual offerings, which has been a good reminder for me to get this review out. Ever since my daughter was ready to attend summer camp, I've always heard good things about Galileo, especially that they focus on science and art -- every modern parent lights up at the idea of STEAM philosophy (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). So kiddo gave this a try as an upcoming 4th grader. We signed up for a few weeks that focused on topics she was interested in. In comparison to other camps, Galileo charges higher on the scale. They make up for this by having a mostly friendly staff and I love that the camp director herself would put a chicken on her head every morning to greet the kids arriving. They try to have a drop off system in the morning and for the most part, it flows smoothly, but checkout can be a pain and disorganized depending on the camp leader for your group. The rest of the feedback is directly from my daughter. Overall she reported that the camp is cheesy and treated her like she's a little kid. They sit on the yard daily listening to long life lessons about how to treat others. Kiddo said these are things that should've been learned in kindergarten -- roasting in the hot blazing sun with no shade and sitting on rough concrete was something she hated doing every day. There were also some rude kids and depending on the camp leader, very little was done to correct their misbehavior. Some camp leaders seem inexperienced and camp was more like babysitting. Kiddo did like creating some of the projects. This Galileo is based out of Franklin elementary but none of the kids were allowed to play on the structure, which was really quite disappointing. read more

For how much they charge ($500 per WEEK) they are quite disorganized. Drop off is supposed to be 8am everyday and the staff only begins to bring out the tables at 7:59. Hello? The parents have places to be! The same people who check us in and out every day never remember my name or my son's. They also have great daily difficulty finding my son's name on the roster which is already in alphabetical order. I don't know what quality camp it is during the day. Kids seem to enjoy it. But the rules are too lax and they don't discipline misbehaving kids. One boy was pushing everybody around including a few camp leaders, and they just laugh it off as if bullying doesn't matter. Worst of all they award kids' achievement by allowing them to pie the camp leaders in the face! How messed up!? Why are they teaching children to hurt/humuliate their elders? Disgusting! I've heard good things about Galileo for years and finally decided to send my son there for four weeks. Guess we are done after that. read more

Camp Galileo has been quite disappointing and clearly gone downhill. Our kids have recently attended a number of other camps (e.g TechKnowHow, CuriOdyssey) and have found the others to be both richer on content and much better run post-pandemic. Camp Galileo still seems to be suffering from financial woes and it comes across in their policies and customer service. Hopefully they will eventually get things straightened out, but for now, seems best to avoid. read more

My daughter attended this camp last summer. When I asked her what she learned, she told me that the staff just rush them to build stuff. She didn't really understand any of it. So, after attending about two weeks, I realized that they staff teenagers to teach the class the majority of the time. I am paying $500 / week for teenagers teaching?!?! What's worse my daughter caught pneumonia in this camp. The camp is overcrowded, they had way too many kids. I think they are just trying to maximize the profits. The fact that she didn't really LEARN, the camp is OVERCROWDED, using TEENAGERS as teachers, and CHARGING $500/week makes this so not worth it. read more

We are a STEAM loving family...from Kids Science Labs weekly to using Goldie Blox and a Kano kit to build our own computer, we take our efforts to expose our kiddos to critical thinking and problem solving seriously. When a FB ad for a new STEAM camp popped up on my FB ads, I was skeptical, but the research driven model and impressive panel of board members gave me cause to take a second look. I'm so glad we did! My 5 and 7 years old kiddos are in love with this camp. They come home every day excited about their work and the PROCESS of the improving their projects. This is huge for us as my kids are sometimes opposed to improving on a design. Learning to take feedback and incorporate it in real time is a lifelong skill that they will use in every aspect of their life. We will definitely be back next year! read more

They are very strong in art and science. The assistance dressed up very differently and teaches the student that being different is OK. They hire certified teachers compared to many others who don't. However because they dress differently (one is dressed in a clown) sometimes they scare the very little kids. read more

This camp is fantastic. It has both great structured STEM and art activities as well as play time. It is incredibly joyful and they are always singing and listening to music. The counselors are amazing young adults they care about the kids; bonding with them and taking their needs into account. My twin boys have done Camp Galileo two summers in a row and they love it! They head out each morning with excitement about what the day will bring and come home brimming with ideas, hilarious songs, interest in their experimental processes and pride in their achievements. I have been working for Galileo for over a decade now. This place encourages campers and staff alike to be their best selves, try new things, and collaborate with others. It is such deep and meaningful learning in the guise of a camp with super fun art science and outdoor activities! A good mix of fun silly campiness and important life lessons. This organization has definitely changed the way I teach in the classroom, and how I interact with people in general. Incredible!! 100%, hands down, a GREAT experience. Our 7 year old, who is usually shy starting new classes, was comfortable about 2 minutes after check-in and really blossomed during her time there --- the staff is warm, energetic, inclusive and so fun! My 9 year old daughter went here for 2 weeks earlier in the summer (our first year with Galileo). I was really blown away by the types of STEM projects that she was involved in (making a marble maze; a lovely stained glass window, etc.). It was clear the staff put a lot of thought into allowing the kids to be creative, but helping them feel confident in their abilities to build things. My daughter was so proud of her creations. She didn't know anyone there, but by the end of the first week, she was able to make friends, and I really enjoyed them having time to present their creations every week. This was our second year attending Camp Galileo and the experience was just as good the second time around! So much so in fact that my daughter who was originally signed up for only one week had me shift around her schedule so she could attend for a second week. The camp offers a great opportunity for the kids to learn and develop skills in the STEAM arena, without it feeling like they are stuck in a classroom all day. Included in the program are times for games and outdoor activities as well - something I had not realized the first time around but was very happy was included in a summer camp. The staff always seemed attentive to the kids and the weeks ended with really dynamic and interesting projects to take home. Ours this year included a hydraulic robot which still comes off the shelf occasionally to be played with. They offer great discounts and incentives for signing up early, signing up for multiple weeks, attending with siblings and referring friends. Highly recommend and a few of my other children are looking to joining my daughter there again this year. read more

With an entering 5th grader and 3rd grader Camp Galileo's become a summer mainstay for us. We're looking forward to experiencing Galileo Quest for our older daughter this year. My son has been going to Camp Galileo since just before his kindergarten year, and the reason we've gone back the past 3 years is that HE always ask US to go! I think part of it is that he can be shy, so the small group setting was really helpful for him that first year. For me, leaving my son all day at a place that wasn't his regular pre-K was a leap of faith - and not only did Camp G take great care of him - he learned so much and came home so excited every day. I took pictures of him on the costume day during a group event, saved his Eifel Tower project (self-created from recycled paper), heard fun stories from the water play day and laughed along with the other parents on the last day when the kids solved a week-long riddle (where the rubber chicken was hiding...quirky...had to be there kind of thing :). What really stood out the most was seeing the staff and how engaged they all were with the kids and with what they were doing. There weren't any rolling eyes of the "why am I here? am I really singing about a rubber chicken?" kind. It was 100% engaged, excited, enthusiastic spirit. We go to different camps every summer, try out new places and experiences, meet up with school friends at camp - and after everything he does for the summer - he always ask "Can I go to Camp G again?
