David, the owner, welcomed us into the studio and gave us a tour before we started. He taught us the basics and all the important things to know when working on the wheel. He was incredibly informative, hands-on, patient, and welcoming--and also really funny, which made the whole experience even more relaxed and enjoyable. It was our first time trying wheel throwing and we had so much fun that my husband and I couldn't stop talking about it afterward. We each made two pieces, and for beginners I think we did pretty well lol! We were honestly so excited to come back and pick up our creations. The staff and members were also super friendly. One of the members asked if we were doing a lesson and when we said yes she told us we would have a great time--and she was not wrong. They also offer memberships if you're interested, and the studio has a very welcoming, community-based vibe. If you've ever wanted to try pottery or are looking for a fun and unique date idea, I highly recommend it.

He had come a couple months ago with his company and had such a good experience with David that he wanted to come again! We walked in a bit early, so we walked to the cute bakery next door for some baked goods and a little coffee before returning at 11:30. The actual class itself is quite short and we took exactly one hour to complete our two bowls (two items per person!) Our instructor showed us very quickly how to throw the clay, center it, and push in and out to make a bowl or a plate. The rest of the class was pretty independent as our instructor walked away several times, which I think could bother some people if you really want to be guided the entire time; however, I actually enjoy being given the space to become comfortable with the clay on my own. Our instructor came by every so often to check in and guide us to the next step or help fix up oopsies (I accidentally kept making the bottom of mine too thin, but he was so encouraging and swiftly fixed it, while also explaining each step of the way so that I could learn and possibly fix my next bowl, if I messed up on that one too.) As it was my birthday, our instructor gave me the demo piece he created and allowed me to choose the color for it as well! I chose the green for all of my pieces. It's been about 2 weeks since we took the class, so I'm hoping to receive the pieces soon! If I lived in the area, I would absolutely consider signing up for a membership to really get into making pottery!

We tried a free art class here and I got to sit in the class. The teacher was very patient and taught her to first draw each line curve etc then they used oil pastels to color, next they used water paint to paint, then they used clay to make dirt. Our trial class is the excavator picture you see. We were very amazed at how much she learned in that one session. We enrolled her immediately. There are multiple make up sessions throughout the week if you need to miss your regularly scheduled class for vacation etc and option to do one on one make up class as last resort as well. We love the staff here and know she'll be in good hands and learn more of her passion here. There's multiple classes going on at the same time based on different art class levels. I've seen kids make sushi with different color clays etc and I've seen kids sketching when I'm pick up or dropping off my daughter so there's definitely lots to learn. I can see why happy Picasso is so popular around here after trying it out myself. When my daughter turns 7 and if she's interested, they also offer digital art class which will be useful for her in the future as well. Teachers here are very patient with the students. The kids also earn stamps each class and can trade them for prizes too. Very fun and motivating environment. 5 stars! And thanks.

I'm able to learn a lot from each session. For someone who has been learning painting from YouTube for two years, getting immediate feedback on my work makes a huge difference. Also, watching Inna doing demos are simply rewarding and nothing short of wonder. Furthermore, Inna creates an inspiring environment that makes me want to do better each time and also learn from each other. The class is both serious and fun. Although still new to the field, I now approach painting in a different and more principled way. Would highly recommend the class to anyone who is interested in pursuing art in any capacity.

With every class I learn something new and feel absolutely accomplished! Lessons have been focused on a wide variety of topics like landscape, still life, portraits, different techniques of painting with pallet knife, brush. You're welcome to use any medium as well! During this pandemic, Inna has been able to beautifully adapt to teaching online over zoom and gives personal attention, it's almost like a private class! I consider myself fortunate to have found Inna as my art teacher and I would highly recommend Art Academia to any one who is passionate about art and would want to learn and grow into an artist.

The vases and work area was pretty dirty. It was $150 for a class, which was scheduled for 6 hrs, but actually was only 4 (on a Saturday morning...and part of that included lunch). Her style isn't as classic as I wanted it to be, and her choice of flowers would not be something I'd use (think purples, orange, green and yellow). Only one of them turned out okay. She gave handouts, but severely lacked instruction. Most of the time, she talked to a friend in the adjacent room. I prefer the adult school or community college classes over this one.

I emailed asking about the class schedule and they sent me a link to their website which only provided the times and day of the week when classes are usually held without any indication of when the next class was to be. Ken, who was responding to my email, was very condescending and rude. In one email, he said that I needed to start ASAP and in another he said that if he was I, he wouldn't attend the school since I have so many questions. Not sure how one question on class schedule is too many questions. In any event if I was going to shell out $500 on classes, shouldn't I ask questions? Needless to say, I will going to the classes at the San Francisco Flower School instead, since the condescension I got for asking about when classes start (how dare I?) makes me wonder what I will get if I venture to ask a question during the class. I did take a look at the pictures on their website and they weren't the best floral arrangements either. Looks like stuff out of the 80s. Glad I didn't take the class and spend the money.

Disappointed in staffs unwillingness to work through this with us despite saying we wanted to keep our one kid in but didn't want to keep our other kid in who was having such a lame experience. Ever since my daughter was ready to attend summer camp, I've always heard good things about Galileo, especially that they focus on science and art -- every modern parent lights up at the idea of STEAM philosophy (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). So kiddo gave this a try as an upcoming 4th grader. We signed up for a few weeks that focused on topics she was interested in. In comparison to other camps, Galileo charges higher on the scale. They make up for this by having a mostly friendly staff and I love that the camp director herself would put a chicken on her head every morning to greet the kids arriving. They try to have a drop off system in the morning and for the most part, it flows smoothly, but checkout can be a pain and disorganized depending on the camp leader for your group. The rest of the feedback is directly from my daughter. Overall she reported that the camp is cheesy and treated her like she's a little kid. They sit on the yard daily listening to long life lessons about how to treat others. Kiddo said these are things that should've been learned in kindergarten -- roasting in the hot blazing sun with no shade and sitting on rough concrete was something she hated doing every day. There were also some rude kids and depending on the camp leader, very little was done to correct their misbehavior. Some camp leaders seem inexperienced and camp was more like babysitting. Kiddo did like creating some of the projects. This Galileo is based out of Franklin elementary but none of the kids were allowed to play on the structure, which was really quite disappointing.
