Someone in another review put it well "this is not an honest business". I wish I had seen that buried review before I chose this program. It was based at a local middle school, so I figured it was legit. My daughter was enrolled for 3 days before we pulled her out of the program. On the surface, when we arrived, the program seemed lackluster - I wasn't provided the basic orientation information before our first day of camp, it wasn't clear what my kid would be doing or any of the basics of what to bring or expect. I'm used to peppy camp counselors with name tags and clipboards, helping to shepherd kids where they need to go, and helping the littles feel comfortable. There was none of this. It was held in the library of a middle school (I hope they went outside, but I'm not really sure), and seemed disorganized. But I figured that at worst, it would be a boring but benign 2 weeks of summer. My kid is pretty outgoing, so I figured, what's the worst that happens - it's located at public middle school, it's got to be legit, maybe just underfunded. At least they have field trips?... But then my daughter fell and hit her head and gashed her eye, and the staff did not call me. I didn't find out until pickup, and when I arrived, they told me that it was because they were not given the emergency numbers from the central office, and they were not able to reach the central office. I have worked with children in many places across my career - I have been a camp counselor, and this seemed absolutely implausibly unsafe. I immediately withdrew my kid from the program - called and left a voicemail that I was filing a complaint and initiated a refund through ActivityHero. But that's when the fun began. I didn't hear from anyone until the next morning/afternoon, and really not until I called back saying I was going to file a complaint with the City of Millbrae. But getting in touch with CAM EDU was surprisingly difficult. Firstly, there is no number for parents to reach staff at the summer camp where the kids are. I was only able to reach the phone number of a central hotline, which was rarely answered by a human--I got more response from chat bots/emails. Then, I realized that there are no academic staff listed on their website - the faces I recognized from the summer camp had titles like "Website developer", which made me pretty nervous - who is taking care of my child? The person who was alleged "camp director" isn't listed as staff on the website. And all staff on the website are listed without a last name, so there's no way to actually confirm their identity or role with the company. When I heard back from CAM EDU, I was put in touch with their General Manager/HR person, who is based abroad and has never seen their facility herself. However, she was very understanding, and provided an immediate full refund. But this still doesn't excuse an academic site where the administrators are not involved in the day-to-day programs. The entire company appears to be run through Google Voice phone numbers, and it gave the impression that there is in-fact no central office (the business address routes to a work/live loft in Millbrae), and does not follow basic safety protocol. There was no way I was going to let my kid go on a field trip with them. I now have more questions around the validity of the business, who the owners are, and who were the adults present. I strongly encourage other parents to do their own due diligence before sending their children to this camp. read more

This is the best place for kid, my are very exciting to go to after school every single day. They tell me the teacher really nice, they do fun activities every single day. Also they help them with the homework. It is improve my kid grades. read more

This review is for the Millbrae summer camps. Disappointing. Activities did not fill up the day and there was a lot of screen time for the kids. Because they have a wide range of ages in the same class, the "academic" part did not align - the worksheets were busy work that took maybe 10 minutes for my kids to complete (out of the 30-45 minutes allotted). They were at the middle school, so no playground but also no organized games for the kids - their outside time was like walking around a prison yard so they could say kids got outside. They charge extra for lunches - it was take out (Hawaiian BBQ, Little Caesars, McDonald's, Asian noodles and sandwiches). They charge extra for fieldtrips rather than including in the weekly fee (as many other camps do), which creates disparity among children attending camp. Website slick, reality terrible. Staff was nice, but also disorganized. Will not be going back. read more

My son was at CAM's afterschool program when he was in TK during the 2021-2022 school year. Academically, he learned a lot, however, I think the mix of different age kids grouped together caused issues. Younger kids such as himself were grouped with older kids. Some older kids were just bad and mean in general. One kid told my son to shove scissors into his ears so he can be death. One kid stepped over his stomach. Some of the teachers there are in high school. I am not sure if they received proper training on how to work with kids and be the mediator and teach them how to solve problems. I think it caused some damage to my son because he became meaner at times and defensive. I feel that there should be a policy at CAM to suspend or remove kids that physically hurt other students. It really hurts their business when they keep these students around. It makes me as a parent feel insecure about keeping my child there. On the flip side, Orion just entered K and is taking first grade math with Singapore Math Club. I don't think I was able to keep him consistently learning math and make so much progress. Thank you CAM teachers for that! He also learned Mandarin. Too bad we don't speak it at home. read more

CAM Educational Services, LLC has been an absolutely amazing support system during these times. Within a week of the SIP order, CAM rolled out a virtual platform which has bridged the learning gap left behind by distance learning, and the program keeps getting better and better. They offer a variety of programs ranging from 1:1 tutoring, small group tutoring, coding, STEM, Mandarin, and even summer camps, all of which can be done from virtually (this has been a great way to keep my son busy while working from home). CAM Educational Services, LLC is still accepting enrollment for their virtual summer programs. They have just opened up enrollment for a very limited number of students on-site to meet the needs of parents that can not work from home. Their facility is SO modern and clean, it's like leaving your child at a relative's house. read more

This is the review for virtual camp for a second grader over the Independence week. We booked it a bit late because the other camp was cancelled due to insufficient registrations. It turned out my son enjoyed it very much. Our family were surprised at finding out how much he has accomplished every day. It is an experience of discovering new talents. At the end, we found out that my son was the only student in the camp. We really appreciate that they still kept the camp as scheduled. read more

My daughter attended this camp last summer. She was traumatized by another summer camp (Genius Learning - Chinese Immersion). They yelled at her and snatched her workpapers from her. Ever since then, she was afraid of learning Chinese. This camp helped her change that. Their one-hour chinese class was great! My daughter became interested and she learned. Moreover, they also have individual work packages for math and english, which is good for helping her to refresh what she learned during the school year. Lastly, they have a lot fun activities. She made chinese arts and crafts and did simple experiments. She told me how an explosion works. They used something simple like soda, mentos, and baking soda to demonstrate gas can create an explosion. My daughter was able to explain that to me and had fun doing the group experiments. I plan to send her back this year. I think they are adding cooking activities which I think she will love! read more

My sixth-grade son started attending the Saturday classes a month ago. He has really enjoyed the classes and is learning REAL coding/scripting (python, JavaScript, etc.)!! The teachers are young and energetic, and they know how to teach in a fun way. They also serve as great role models for the students. I already signed my sixth-grader and fourth-grader up for a few weeks of summer camps, and they are both looking forward to it. This place is awesome! Every time you go to CAM you get greeted by a teacher. They lock the doors for security. There is a playroom in the back and they do a lot of activities at recess! Kids can enjoy playing basketball in the two mini backyards. Overall I think CAM is a great place for every kid! read more
