    Treehouse interior view from loft
    Laurie B.

My sister and I stayed in a Treehouse and we loved it! I carefully read the website in advance of booking and knew what to expect. Everything in the unit was beautifully appointed and super clean. We enjoyed the campfire area with picnic table and didn't have any bear visits (that we know of, anyway). The campground facilities are immaculate and the shop offers just about anything one might need. The laundry facilities are well-lit and conveniently located next to the shower area. Although we did not use the pool, it looked inviting for a hot summer day and would be a blast for kids. The on-site vintage campers are adorable and may try one of the glamping tents next time. We enjoyed chatting with everyone at the front desk and look forward to returning yearly.

The team that runs Camp le Conte is great - they're very kind. The mini camper I rented is well equipped. For two people at most. Has a great sitting area, fire pit, and picnic table. A short walk to the facilities which have firewood, a laundry are, and bathrooms. The bathrooms are spotless! I felt very safe both at night and early morning being in there by myself - but the cleanliness is spotless. I was going through something very difficult when I stayed - which has mostly come out ok. But when I shared that with them - they added an extra touch. Also - they're happy to print parking passes for the trails/parks if you go to the front and ask for their email. Again - great camper and grounds. Spotless facilities. Kind people.

With the looming threat of a government shutdown which might have impacted our campsite in the National Park, we looked for a campground outside of GSMNP and found Camp LeConte. We decided to book a 4 night stay in one of the luxury treehouses instead of one of the tent camp sites that they offer. The treehouse itself was amazing and everyone loved almost everything about it. You have your own private bathroom with a hot rainwater style shower which is a huge improvement considering we normally sleep in tents when we camp. The interior of the treehouse was decorated very nicely and was very clean. The treehouses are open air which means that there are screens in the windows, but no glass. We came in October when it was just starting to get cool and we didn't really have any issues with staying warm at night under the thick blankets on the bed that they provide. The loft at the top of the treehouse stays significantly warmer than the area below. The on-site store sells firewood bundles for about $5 a piece and bags of ice for $2 a pop which is nice to be able to buy without leaving the resort. They have it set up where you can purchase these items by scanning a QR code and paying from your phone which was nice. I liked the self-service aspect of it, and that we didn't have to worry about whether or not the store was open when we needed these items. The staff we did interact with were very friendly and nice. The only things that we didn't like were the close proximity of the resort to the main highway, and the fact that the treehouse overlooked all of the RV's. With being that close to the highway we could hear the sounds of cars and trucks driving 24 hours a day. It sounds a bit like white noise, so it wasn't terrible, but it takes you out of the solitude of being in nature. Additionally we had to contend with the sound of RV's pulling in and out and getting set up usually early in the morning which was slightly annoying. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone and would probably stay here again.

Our family stayed here in one of their treehouse cabins. It was an absolute blast! We couldn't recommend it more.

Glamping at it's finest! We had the best time staying in the Tiffany RV. The park owner is very nice, quick to respond and accommodating. The park is clean and well kept. The showers were hot with great water pressure. We can not wait to book another stay!

This review is from a person who tent camps. I tried to book a spot at Elkmont campground and all were taken. In fact every single spot was taken in the whole park. It was fine another place or cancel my trip. I found camp LeConte. 3 nights cost me $125. Not horrible but you get what you pay for. The tent lots are small. Very small. The neighboring tent was about 8 feet from mine. The neighbors weren't being loud but you can still hear every word. The tent area has 5 spaces when it's only big enough for one. The RV sites have picnic tables . The tent sites have a little round wooden table with no seating. The mornings are loud with some type of stadium or sports even place right behind it. This is not a place for peace and quiet. The pool was great. Heated and felt like bath water. Very nice bathroom and shower. The store came in handy when I needed a couple items I forgot. Paid about double what they were worth but it was convenient. The staff was friendly and didn't bother people. I would not tent camp here. The positive reviews for this place must come from RV owners who do not mind being bunched in. The RV spots were really close together and small as well.

    Cute retro campers.

We've stayed here many times. It's always clean and the grounds are well manicured. So fun and so relaxing!

4.5 stars We LOVED our stay here! I'm going to go ahead and call myself a fairly expert camper as I've camped everywhere. I mean everywhere, and I rate this place pretty high up there, for a few reasons... The prices for the treehouse and the awesome Safari tents were actually the lowest I've EVER seen for these types of accommodations! It was perfectly located just on the foothills of the Smokies, but still not too far from the glitz and lights of Pigeon Forge, making it a great stay for either destination. The little details put into the Safari tents such as the light strands, handmade wooden furniture wooden swings, marquee letters and bunting were just lovely. The bathrooms and showers were among some of the cleanest I've EVER seen at a campground. They also have oversized, new pay washers and dryers. A lovely pool and small play area. After hours check in which is what we did was a cinch. They left a bag with directions and such tagged to the bulletin board safely inside. What you should know however... Don't tent camp here. The tent camping here space is small and offers no privacy. For this stay, definitely go with the Safari tent or treehouse. We preferred the Safari tent actually. You are close to the highway which is great for an easy out and heading back on the road but you will hear some traffic. Not a ton by any means, but if you're used to national park camping, this isn't it. Cell reception wasn't wonderful but that's also kind of perfect in this environment. I believe there was wifi. I would stay here again in heartbeat and really want to! I highly recommend it. In fact, I just did to friends yesterday.

Great very inexpensive campground. We did not need utilities so I think it was just 15.00 for the night. Basically we were paying for a restroom with showers since we had been on the road for a week and were getting stinky. The experience was priceless. Running to the toilet through the snow in the middle of the night. Waking up to take a shower and finding 3 women with 3 curling irons in the bathroom. There was only 2 electrical outlets so 1 woman applied a ton of makeup while she waited her turn with her curling iron. This alone gets them 5 stars - a place where woman can curl there hair and put on makeup while camping out!!! Thats me in the silly green jacket in the posted picture!

Owners are very rude and unhelpful. Sites are extremely small. There is simply nothing luxurious about this place.

There is even a trolly stop to get into town from the front entrance. The weekend we were there, it was packed. Even so, the site was easy enough to back into. Tons of campers had their TVs out to watch the game and grilling, but there was little noise and noting disturbed us inside our rig. Kids enjoyed the pool and having fun while many families rented the facilities golf carts to get around the camp. The Bad: The campground is way more packed and has smaller sites than what the photos indicate. You will find it to be congested, especially on the weekends. Also, some sites to not have a dumping capability, you will need to dump at a common site when leaving. All and all, we will certainly be coming back.

Thanks to Google Maps (and my thorough trip itinerary planning), I had discovered the historic…read more(once a) "ghost town" of Elkmont. For America's most visited national park, it can be difficult to escape the crowds within the Great Smoky Mountains--yet Elkmont is one place to do just that! This Little River Valley was once home to a pioneer Appalachian community, a logging town, and later a resort community. To this day, old relics and abandoned buildings from the past remain--awaiting to be explored. The area was settled in the 1840s as the town of Little River when a logging company was formed. A railroad was later constructed to transport timber for the Little River Lumber Company. This eventually allowed the wealthy from Knoxville to visit what eventually became a resort town. When the Great Smoky Mountains National Park was was established in 1934, residents were given the option to sell their homes at full price and relocate, or sell to the National Park Service (NPS) for a discounted price allowing them to live there until they become deceased. By 1992, most of the homes remained vacant or with expired leases leading 70+ historic buildings into a state of deterioration. Thankfully the NPS decided to renovate and preserve 19 buildings in Elkmont for public visitation. You can now find the Elkmont Historic District with cabins along Jakes Creek Road that were completed around 1997. They attempted to keep the buildings in the closest original condition--even their exterior paint colors! Each cabin has information about the tenants and any unique features. Unfortunately, the cabins cannot be brought up to code for renting or staying inside. However, the largest lodge known as the Appalachian Club is available as an event venue. Continue to explore the Old Elkmont Cemetery up a rocky road near the beginning of Elkmont Road, or choose to hike the Jakes Creek or Little River Trails where you will venture past less discovered old chimneys, walls and tractors that still remain. Directions: Coming from Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge or Cherokee, turn to go west on Fighting Creek Gap Road toward Cade's Cove (turn off near the Sugarlands Visitor Center). After the Laurel Falls trailhead, watch for signs to Elkmont Campground. Follow Elkmont Road all the way til it becomes a loop drive at Jakes Creek Trail Trailhead.
