However, we have experienced multiple negative interactions with the Manager, Jeremy Park. We felt that he selectively came out to speak with my family about policies of the gym, (other patrons were doing the same exact thing, but he did not address them about the exact same policies). We are not sure if it is because we are people of color, or just that fact that we have kids with us, but we do not feel comfortable when he is present at the gym. He single handedly makes the entire experience at the gym negative. There are many times, that we select days that he is not working so that we did not have to feel targeted, while being paid patrons at the gym with our family. We do like the other staff (we have never had any issues with any other employee) and the services that they provide. We hope this is not a consistent feeling that other families receive as well. In the future, we will be switching to another gym like bouldering project or vertical world, that is more inclusive to families. We hope this provides some insight for other families to make decisions on where they will take their children for a positive experience, so they get to love climbing as much as we do.

I appreciate that she noticed we were late due to having to sign the waiver and watch the video so she waited an extra minute to start class. They have a parking lot with plenty of spaces going one way, the women's room has 3 shower rooms and plenty of stalls. I would definitely come back to try out another class or rock climbing

Can say without a doubt that West Seattle Health Club made the time in Seattle bearable. This is a family gym - and has the vibes to match. From the children learning to swim in the large pool area to the childcare and classes, this place really supports health for the entire family. The sauna is hot, and large enough to make sense, and the towel service provides a nice experience for individuals wishing to have a spa like beginning or end to their workout sessions. I will always be grateful to this club for its cheery vibes during the dark, Seattle winter days.

They told her they believed the offer may have already been redeemed and suggested we could pay for a new order instead. I had to get involved over the phone to explain how inappropriate it was to accuse us of trying to redeem the offer twice. This was meant to be a birthday treat, and instead my daughters were made to feel as though they were being accused of dishonesty on what should have been a special day. The situation escalated to involving a manager and took about 35 minutes to resolve. It was stressful and embarrassing for my daughters. What made it worse was the rude attitude from staff and the complete lack of acknowledgment that this was a birthday gift from them. In the end, they admitted it was their mistake, explaining that only the manager could see the offer in their system. Despite this, no apology was given to either of my daughters. This level of service is unacceptable. It is especially troubling to see a young customer treated this way, particularly on her birthday. The company should be aware of how poorly their staff handled this situation and the negative impact it had on our experience.

There's a reason why I keep coming back to Kaf guides. If you can dream it, they will help you do it! They are willing to work with you on designing the trip you want, they meet you where you are skill and fitness-wise, they are open to feedback, they are kind, patient and fair. I've been lucky to ice climb, crack climb, learn trad and rock rescue, practice avalanche rescue, and dial in my multipitch skills all with the Kaf crew. Even if you're more than just a beginner, you'll benefit from learning from highly skilled and experienced professionals whose passion for what they do is really evident. Their excitement is infectious, and you'll often find yourself in awe of their technical abilities and movement. Watching them in their element is a gift. They make sound decisions to keep you and themselves safe from the many objective dangers in the wild. They'll celebrate the smallest of wins with you, and offer encouragement and support to keep trying. I've heard that you shop for a guide, not a guide service, and this is really true once you get to know this team. Special mention to Woody who has guided me for 90% of it - about 130 hours to date! His problem-solving skills are so impressive and there is no guide I trust or respect more. And Mick who is the heart and soul of Kaf. Mick will have you smiling all through the online courses which are an excellent way to dip your toe into the world of climbing and mountaineering. I'm so excited for more adventures with Kaf in the years to come.

Possibly slippery when wet, as the trail is packed with leaves, it makes for a journey and an adventure in a short (or lengthy) walk. The trail is easily navigable, occasionally with wooden/metal grates, bridge-like pathways leading hikers up and over the more wet, sloshy areas. It seems to be a quiet hike through the woods, possibly most intended for those who live in the neighborhood. But it's a nice walk, peaceful and the minimal other people we saw respected distance and trail etiquette. Only slight altitude gains, which makes for easy family walks and adventuring.

Just steps away from busy Admiral Way is an oasis with some of the tallest trees I've seen in West Seattle. -- From Seattle.gov: Schmitz Preserve was donated to the city in pieces between 1908 and 1912. The most generous chunk came from a German immigrant/pioneer/banker/realtor named Ferdinand Schmitz, who served on the park commission during those years. It was Schmitz's idea, as he saw how rapidly the great forest was disappearing, to preserve part of it in its natural state. Even Schmitz's land had not been completely untouched by logging, though. Some huge stumps in the park still show deep notches hacked high above the ground for the "spring-boards" on which axe men would stand to avoid having to chop through the lower root crown, the thickest and hardest part of the tree. After 1908, however, the new park rapidly gained popularity as a quiet complement to the West Seattle park complex. Except for the paved entrance and a parking lot at the northwest corner, the park has remained essentially unchanged ever since. (Edited from the files of Don Sherwood, 1916-1981, Park Historian.) --- The trails of this preserve are perfect for an after-work mini-hike or a long weekend stroll. I've heard that a neighborhood pony makes its home on a property adjacent to the preserve (but don't try to pet him! I've heard he bites!). Tonight I had a very short visit due to time, but even as the sky was starting to darken there were individuals walking the paths. Next time I will spend a couple of hours here. Easy off street parking near the Admiral Way entrance/exit makes this a no-brainer for a quick getaway to destress while still within the city limits.
