What a fun experience! My friends took us out on the waters with an electric boat with this company. Check in was quick and easy with the friendly staff. This is a very fun interesting way to get out on Lake Union and see Seattle from a different perspective. These quiet ( no stink from diesel fuel ) boats are easy for a beginner to navigate, especially if they have a copilot looking out for other boats or seaplanes. You can bring your own food and even if it's a bit rainy you are sheltered but open enough to see all the cool houseboats and the Seattle skyline. This was my third time planning a team event with the Electric Boat Company. It's such a unique experience and always a hit with the team! Their staff are easy to work with, responding quickly and with patience with my many questions and adjustments. They are very helpful and are great partners in planning. Also, their catering is great! I wasn't sure what to expect but we usually get the fruit, charcuterie, vegetable, and dessert trays and they're beautiful and overflowing with a great variety of food. My favorite part of the electric boat company is that they think of everything - down to forks/cups/napkins, coolers with ice, and wine and snacks for purchase in the office - in case you forget anything. Also captains hats! Bluetooth speakers and recycle bins on the boat are nice touches. Parking is easy in a big lot out front - and very affordable. The bathrooms are clean and indoors - another worry for the group because we didn't know what to expect from a bathroom on the dock. Totally ok! Better than ok. Two hours was totally enough for our event, though we could have gone longer since we were having a good time. Highly recommend for work, or any events. I love taking one of these boats out on a sunny day, or even a rainy one! They are fully enclosed and heated, making them great in any weather. Super easy to drive and set up with everything you could need. The check in is super easy, some waivers and brief instruction. We were on the water within 5 minutes or so. The boat maneuvers super easily and Lake Union is such a stunning spot for a casual ride around. We usually bring snacks and drinks, and they have a trash can and cup holder on board which make it super easy. No bathroom on board, but there is no rule against driving back to the dock for a quick pee break in the middle of the reservation, which is nice. The boat also has a great speaker. So fun all around! Would definitely come back any season. Just beware of the geese! read more

We had a great time on the lake and while I was not financially responsible the process seemed smooth enough. We did have to wait like 15 mins from reservation time however to get going as no employees were in sight on the dock. We appreciated them allowing us to decorate the boat early however! We did a team building activity here. The boats were reliable, if a teeny bit worn down (the seats were ripped and duct taped in places). We brought our own food and had a lot of fun cruising the lake for 2 hours. This was a fantastic experience for me as it was my first time in Seattle. We were able to book easily on the day of online. Check in was easy and they have a nice seating area and bathrooms while waiting. It was Labor Day weekend and a nice and sunny day out, so it was quite busy on the waters. Children under 12 are required to wear a life vest. Someone in your party has to have a boating license if you don't want a driver. The boat itself was easy to navigate. There is a table, which was nice to have while eating our lunch and placing the kid's snacks/belongings. The seating was all around, which I thought was nice to give an engaging atmosphere. The two hours on the water was nice and fun to have a different perspective of the city, see the seaplanes depart, and the boat homes up close. Bluetooth is also available, so it was fun to hear our playlists while out on the water. Lake Union does get busy, so you always have to keep an eye out for passer byers whether on another boat, in the water, etc. read more

Staff was friendly. Our issue was with the boat. It was soooo slow, the people on paddle boats went faster than our boat. Not that we expected it to go fast but maybe a little faster than 2 miles per hour ( at least it's what it felt like) The views from the boat were nice. I've been on a boat through this company twice now and both times have been really fantastic. It's a bit pricy but it's great for a friends or family outing on the lake. You can BYOB and food which is awesome! The boat is relatively easy to drive and all you have to do is watch a fun video with safety instructions. They provide a map to show you where not to go into and it's just such a fun experience to see the beautiful sights on the lake; city views, house boats, people paddling/kayaking, other larger boats, etc. Parking nearby is also quite easy and convenient! read more

I love boating and just relaxing on the water, but don't like being held hostage to a throttle that maxes out at 7 knots. Friendly people but the boat itself was not great. Maybe too old? We've driven speed boats, etc. so have experience. This boat did not steer well at all. They warned us that the steering could have a delay, but what we experienced was pretty major. Maybe 20 seconds after turning the wheel the boat might turn or maybe it wouldn't. The other major issue is that the boat just wouldn't go straight either even after we tried to center the wheel. We had roughly balanced the weight of people on the boat on either side too. it didn't seem that windy. It wasn't like driving a golf cart or other boats we've used. Took away a lot of the fun. I've recently had the opportunity to rent a boat from The Electric Boat Company & was blown away by the ease of rental, customer service and overall experience. After booking online, I drove down to the Electric Boat Company & was pleased to find a huge parking lot with an abundance of parking, which was free on weekends & after 4 PM. Once parked, I walked over to the Electric Boat Company, down the stairs & was greeted by the front desk manager, Brian, who put this first time boater of Lake Union at ease. He immediately took my payment, walked myself over to the safety protocols and made sure my group made it out to the docks on time. Next on the docks, we were pointed to over to the dock manager, Tyler. Tyler helped us board the luxury boat with seating for 10. Once onboard, I was impressed with the size of the boat which had plenty of room for adult beverages & food, which you can bring at no charge - which helps bring down the overall costs of a fun afternoon. Pulling out of the docks for the 2 hour cruise was a breeze, it was easy to navigate Lake Union especially with the curated audio tour, which was easy listening pointing out all of the sites and sounds and as it was an electric boat - it was pretty easy to handle. After 2 hours of fun & sun, we pulled back into the docks with Tyler who helped us get off the boat & grab our remaining items. For a group of 10 to go out on a sunny day on Lake Union for about $30 a person with the ability to bring our own food/drink, it was an absolute steal especially with a glass of house wine going for $10+ in Seattle. I'll definitely be back this summer on Lake Union to enjoy another day of fun & sun with this all star cast. read more

I purchased a Groupon deal for a two hour rental. It was easy to reserve a time/date on their website. We were a group of 6, and the boat was comfortable for us. Although it was a cloudy day, it made for a fun activity and we didn't have to worry about other obstacles to maneuver in the water. The little space heater worked well, and we didn't even have to wear our jackets. The two hours flew by! We all had such a great time sharing snacks, drinking, and chatting. I can't wait to do it again! *I knocked a star off only because their sound system to connect to Bluetooth and by USB didn't connect properly to play music. We reserved the donut Duffy for 4 of us at 11:30 am, but we were further than we thought and I called the day before and asked if they could push us back and the girl who answered was so helpful and courteous and gave us a later option. Thankfully When we arrived , we were a bit earlier, and they were so accommodating to us to get us in our boat asap- even with others ahead of us. We forgot a Bluetooth speaker and the guy who assisted us to our boat I believe his name was Lachlan(forgive my spelling) was soo nice and went and grabbed one for us. We had a day to fill with family in town, and my MIL has some mobility issues. Rather than driving to sight see in Portland, we decided on a picnic on one of the electric boats. The rental process and check-in were easy, the staff were nice, the boat was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, and we had a wonderful time cruising around the Willamette River from the Tillikum to Fremont bridges. First of all, I'm pretty scared of boats (it's this phobia I have from falling out of canoes, inner tubes, etc as a child). BUT my bubble wanted to go out on a 'venture so off we went boating on a beautiful sunny Seattle day! You get two hours and at first my friend had a bit of a hard time figuring out how to steer it (didn't help that a paddleboarder was taking a selfie and not looking up!) but we made it out onto the lake without hitting anything! Whew! You can bring food/drinks (+adult bevvies) and pump up the music as well on board. We had littles with us so had thought that they'd be bored sitting there for 2 hours, but they had a great time snacking and looking all around them. We didn't get too far - just staying basically in Lake Union. There are bigger boats and kayaks/paddleboards/hot tub boats (yes, apparently that's a thing here!) so watch out for boat traffic and waves!! It was a nice boat ride and with a cover to block out those rays! Overall a great time with friends and some beautiful views! read more

It only goes 6 miles per hour, but that's fine with me. We rented one yesterday (12/5) and they warmed up the boat nicely where we didn't even need to wear a jacket. Rented out a boat and highly recommend The Electric Boat Company! From start to finish, I had an excellent experience with them. The only mishap was that they didn't apply the deposit when charging for the rest of the boat, snacks and drinks and I corrected that easily with them the next day. The boat was well maintained, with the captains getting a quick and easy lesson on how to navigate it. The boat has these plastic windows that roll up or down with a button to keep them in place, so while we took off on Lake Union in wonderful weather, when it started raining on us, it was easy to put the windows down. They supplied us with snacks and a cooler of drinks at an extra reasonable price. They gave us a map of where we could take the boat, which is basically over all over the lake. We had a 2 hour time limit, which was plenty. The boat only goes about 10-15 mph max, which was a leisurely, relaxing cruise. The crew insisted on taking the trash out for us when we docked, and they offered to take a group pic too. Parking is free if it's after 4 pm, otherwise you have to pay at the meter. read more

Had a beautiful day out on the water in a donut electric boat last weekend in august Reservations were easy online and made a res about a month out so plenty of options! We definitely think the donut boat is great if you have a small party (6people), on a budget, and want to more enjoy SLU in a bobbing floating ball vs being in an actual boat that cruises the lake. I was surprised it could make it to the opposite side of the lake from the dock near the house boats but was definitely slower than a kayak so keep that in mind. It seemed even the regular boats are pretty slow too at 3-4 mph. Check in was easy: arrive early because most reservations start at the same time: I'd say 5-10mins before your reservation. One star off because we had some trouble getting the umbrella above the boat to open and one of the rods was broken. Also the dial to open and close it showed reverse instructions of which way to crank which was confusing and I think is something that should have been pointed out how to open by one of the crew Otherwise TLDR a great time on the water and would rent from them again for my next adventure :) read more
