The Banjo, a paddle wheeler house boat Airbnb you can stay on!

This is a very fun interesting way to get out on Lake Union and see Seattle from a different perspective. These quiet ( no stink from diesel fuel ) boats are easy for a beginner to navigate, especially if they have a copilot looking out for other boats or seaplanes. You can bring your own food and even if it's a bit rainy you are sheltered but open enough to see all the cool houseboats and the Seattle skyline. Great for visiting out of town guests too.

This was my third time planning a team event with the Electric Boat Company. It's such a unique experience and always a hit with the team! Their staff are easy to work with, responding quickly and with patience with my many questions and adjustments. They are very helpful and are great partners in planning. Also, their catering is great! I wasn't sure what to expect but we usually get the fruit, charcuterie, vegetable, and dessert trays and they're beautiful and overflowing with a great variety of food. My favorite part of the electric boat company is that they think of everything - down to forks/cups/napkins, coolers with ice, and wine and snacks for purchase in the office - in case you forget anything. Also captains hats! Bluetooth speakers and recycle bins on the boat are nice touches. Parking is easy in a big lot out front - and very affordable. The bathrooms are clean and indoors - another worry for the group because we didn't know what to expect from a bathroom on the dock. Totally ok! Better than ok. Two hours was totally enough for our event, though we could have gone longer since we were having a good time. Highly recommend for work, or any events. I'm already looking forward to next year's spring event!

This was a fantastic experience for me as it was my first time in Seattle. We were able to book easily on the day of online. Check in was easy and they have a nice seating area and bathrooms while waiting. It was Labor Day weekend and a nice and sunny day out, so it was quite busy on the waters. Children under 12 are required to wear a life vest. Someone in your party has to have a boating license if you don't want a driver. The boat itself was easy to navigate. There is a table, which was nice to have while eating our lunch and placing the kid's snacks/belongings. The seating was all around, which I thought was nice to give an engaging atmosphere. The two hours on the water was nice and fun to have a different perspective of the city, see the seaplanes depart, and the boat homes up close. Bluetooth is also available, so it was fun to hear our playlists while out on the water. Lake Union does get busy, so you always have to keep an eye out for passer byers whether on another boat, in the water, etc.

Everyone always loves going out on the lake and this is a really fun and easy way to do that! Great customer service and helpful staff! I've rented these boats for years and it never disappoints! Fun for locals and visitors alike!

Staff was friendly. Our issue was with the boat. It was soooo slow, the people on paddle boats went faster than our boat. Not that we expected it to go fast but maybe a little faster than 2 miles per hour ( at least it's what it felt like) The views from the boat were nice. The blue tooth speaker had allot of static, our horn didn't work. We got tired of how long it took us to move we ended up returning the boat a few minutes early.

We had such a wonderful experience with The Electric Boat Company in Seattle! Everything was so smooth--from the friendly staff to the delicious food and wine we picked up there before setting off. Captaining our own boat around the lake was relaxing and fun, with beautiful views all around. Truly one of our favorite things we did during our visit to Seattle!

Lived here for over a decade, and this was a unique and amazing "first" to share with my visiting family! Such a beautiful experience to see the city from a different view. Staff was knowledgeable/helpful; our luxury boat was nice and clean; the portable heater was much appreciated! Little side note: I may have missed this part, if any, but marker points would've been helpful- my sister and I (drivers) were low key freaking out trying to precisely follow the map, but had fun figuring it out ;-D ! Definitely recommend and will return!

A great way to spend a day in Seattle. Lake Union was beautiful. The boat was clean and a reasonable price, about $200 for the session.

Ask the Community - The Electric Boat Company

Is the boat a strict 25 and older rule? My friends and I are 23-24 and would really love to take one out.

When I booked they didn't ask for age and didn't ask when I checked in. I chose to take their insurance that was about 13 to be on the safe side

I'm debating between this electric boat rental and the one in Kirkland on Lake WA. What are the pros and cons of each?

It depends on what you want to see.....if you want more of a city of Seattle cruise, do the one on Lake Union. Kirkland is more of looking at fancy homes and the Kirkland waterfront.

If my friends and I plan on drinking, what is the bathroom situation going to be like?

There are nice bathrooms where you launch, and a couple places you can dock along your trip that are designated bathroom places. You are provided with the info, and a map. Defintely best to go once right before you leave!

Are you allowed to get off the boat and swim in the lake?

Not on the standard or luxury boats, but they got donut boats for the warmer months that you can swim off of as long as you're able to get back up on the boat. Some people were having trouble getting back in, it's not hard but just make sure that…

Are dogs allowed on the boat?

No dogs are not allowed unless you have a service dog for disability

    Is there parking nearby?

Yes. Directly in front there is parking.

Do you guys have boat rentals for 25 people?

The largest boat size is 12 people, but you are able to rent more than one boat at a time.

Is it customary to tip for boat rental?

You have an option to tip when you check in and pay for your reservation and they say all tips are pooled between all the employees. I always tip for services like this because they clean up after you, teach you how to drive the boat, and generally…

Just make sure you save some patience for figuring out the parking, especially in the summer days when you have to dodge kids in swimsuits. The event we did was essentially an Iron Chef-style competition, but we first had a happy hour of charcuterie cheese and fruit and an open bar (although the line for cocktails was a bit backlogged). We were divided into two groups with an assigned chef each to coach us through a 90 minute cooking session to come up with a meal plan consisting of our designated protein (my team got Salmon and the other team got chicken), 2 vegetarian sides, and a dessert. We had nearly access to a seemingly infinite amount ingredients to work with, but not all! Some ingredients even came from the garden outside but mostly the pantry is well stocked with so many different herbs, spices, cheeses, sauces, etc. Not to mention all kinds of kitchen equipment. We feared 90 minutes wouldn't be enough but it seemed to be just enough time without feeling too harried to brainstorm and come up with a plan, split up and prepare various dishes, plate for the judge as well as each other (to eat buffet style after the presentation). Each group selected a presenter to talk through the dishes and then we went to the main dining area to partake in each others' creations - with more drinks! The staff who judged the dishes had a lot of goodness to say about all the creations and the winning team got bragging rights and a blue mug. We dined right on Lake Union by huge windows such that it felt like the event turned into a fancy dinner cruise from there. All in all it was a great event and a great opportunity to connect.

The price was negotiated before we looked at it with the caveat that the boat was in good condition. They also signed a letter of intent on price with a new trailer vs. using one they had there. However when we pulled the boat out to look at the hull (when they said boat was in good condition), the entire outdrive was very chewed up (more than just the skeg itself). Parker who was the salesman kind of just dismissed us saying we couldn't make a deal that day (for various reasons) and went back on the letter of intent price we had in writing for both the boat (couple hundred bucks difference) and the new trailer price (couple thousand dollars difference). He said he would call the next morning and never did. Something must have happened with him going back on what he personally wrote in writing vs. what he said that day however having multiple dishonest practices is enough for me to not do business with them.
