The facility seemed perfect for a child's birthday party and the advertised price was more than fair. I toured the facility before booking, and all staff were professional and genuine. The party areas were large adequate for the event. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 and the shelter in place order, my son's party was cancelled. The owners were extremely accommodating and offered solutions to make our experience better. While we weren't able to have the party that I had planned, we were more than satisfied with the level of customer service, the professionalism, and the experience we received when working with Oakland Yard Athletics.

This is such a great little, picturesque park located to the right of the Clarkston Village…read moreoffices. It's a smaller space that's very well-designed with undulating grounds, sufficient open spaces, 2 little bridges that go over a small river (creek?) with ducks, a gazebo, and lots of trees. There are no grills or anything, but lots of perfectly placed sitting benches (even a few swinging ones) and a decent amount of picnic benches. It's a great place to walk the pups, the love interest in your life, or have a blanket or bench picnic with the family. I believe the gazebo side has hosted outdoor weddings and I have seen pro photographers snapping pics of their subjects (just to give you an idea of the looks of it). The kids playground has enough activity sets that are nicely spread out for tiny kids and big kids. My 3 y/o son loves coming here. I think it's his favorite spot thus far. He loves seeing the ducks who are super tame and will come right up to you on the banks expecting to be fed. Unfortunately, feeding birds like this makes them dependent on handouts and I didn't see any signs forbidding it so far. Maybe the ducks are on the Village dole on the off-season, who knows? Bread is really not the best to feed them with (little nutritional value), so consider taking things like cracked, corn, fresh peas, or grape HALVES (per the internet...so you may want to double check that info). If you decide to visit the park, also take the opportunity to walk the Village's small main street or walk off a date meal at one of the local hot spots (Union Woodshop and Clarkston Union). The walkable residential street of Holcomb (off Washington) has some nice old houses to look at or drive by. When you turn onto Depot Rd (keep your eyes peeled, you just might miss it), the parking lot is on the left across from the offices. They have doggie poo bag stations and (the one minus) porta-potties for bathrooms. Top Yelp-rated Cook's Dairy (ice cream) in Ortonville can be integrated into a trip to Clarkston Village. It's only 10 minutes away going up M-15.

Peaceful area for a nature walk on wide paved streets within former military housing complex. At…read morethis time, the pathways are not well marked and the pavement is heavily cracked with nature growing out-of-control most everywhere. There's an interesting multitude of tree species scattered throughout; leftovers from the former military homesites. There are forbidden areas of entry well marked to protect bald eagles nesting in the area (see pic). Seasonal DIA pop-up art is currently present, as well as a shiny new flag pole. Amenities are thin. Rustic parking is available off the Donner Rd entry. There is a handicapped porta-potty too. Otherwise, it's pretty bare bones. The potential to make this a five-star facility is tremendous. WARNING: "MY DOG DOESN'T BITE!" (Famous last words). It's a nice area to walk a dog however I noticed several people walking various breeds unleashed, including an intimidating pitbull. Might want to bring bear spray to ward off crazed unleashed beasts (or crazier owners).

The owner sent the following message that was buried within a booking confirmation e-mail the night before our 09:00 class: "I am emailing you because [name redacted] who is supposed to give you the sailing class tomorrow has tested positive for COVID. ... I have tried to find another captain but they were all had previous commitments. Would the following date be ok with you? 10/8/2022 Saturday and Sunday" We booked the two-day classes weeks in advance; arranged for time off work, and invested in the required/recommended clothing and equipment. The weather forecast for our classes was 9-10 knots and mid 80s. In my mind this was perfect sailing weather. The October 8th-9th classes were already on the school's schedule; and the forecast for those days was in the 40s, which would have been a very unenjoyable experience for us. Unforeseen events happen, and the instructor should focus on their health. I do not think anyone could reasonably argue otherwise. There are myriad reasons why an instructor may become unavailable; but the owner did not plan for a very common contingency. Who doesn't call their customer when they have to cancel something at the eleventh hour? This owner. Who doesn't make the slightest effort to try to find a mutually acceptable solution? This owner. The booking confirmation includes the following exact copy: "Cancellations: Full refund when you inform us by email 7 days before the class starts. 50% Refund when you inform us 3 days before the class starts. No Refund when you inform us 48 days before the class. Customers will also receive a full refund or credit in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances." Should the owner have apologized? It would have demonstrated some consideration. In conclusion: we received a full refund, but caveat emptor with Lake St. Clair Sailing School.

I don't write a lot of Yelp reviews, but after spending a fun and educational weekend here getting my ASA 101/103 certifications, I wanted to pass along this review for others! I flew down from New York for four days and Susie (the owner) was really helpful in helping me plan my trip and getting me started on pre-sail reading. Quick note for anyone considering this school if you live outside the Detroit area - sign up early and Susie will try to help you find a place to stay in the marina itself (our very close). This is a family run sailing school (2nd generation) and the pride and care everyone on the team takes in teaching is very apparent as soon as you get here. Class sizes are small so you get a lot of hands-on time that you might not have in some other sailing schools. The boats are in great shape and well maintained. Lastly, the Marina where the schoola is based is an added bonus (swim after a long days sail!) and there are plenty of food/entertainment options for the evenings. Just wanted to give a shout out to Marissa…read more I had friends waiting outside yesterday, helping me carry gifts and leftover decor, etc. from the birthday party we had for my 5yr old son... So, my husband took care of the bill and all, but I didn't get to give a review and I just wanted to say, "Thank you" to Marissa and the whole team at Bounce It Up. She did a great job hosting and we were so very pleased with the whole event and the way things went. When we arrived, we carried our stuff back to the big party room on the right side and then I took my kids to use the restroom... When I got out, Marissa and my husband were already setting everything up and I loved how she knew what she was doing and took initiative to get the job done. I was nervous about having only 15 minutes to set up before our guests arrived (I asked them to come at 10:45am to avoid waiver signing delays, etc.), but the whole room was set up and looked fantastic for the party! I also wanted to mention that every time I called with questions prior to the party, (which was about 4-5x's), everyone I spoke with was so helpful and they always encouraged me to call back with any questions I had. I just felt like this party could not have gone any better, really... and I'm so grateful to all the staff at Bounce It Up for truly helping us to make my son's birthday so special for him.
