    The Ranchmen's Club

Holy cow, this place is incredible! (And yes, that pun is absolutely intended because we're talking…read moreabout a club that literally has "Ranch" in the name.) Attended a wedding banquet here and let me tell you, the Ranchmans Club doesn't mess around when it comes to food. They offered a choice between lamb, beef, or vodka pasta - and naturally, I went with the beef because, hello, it's called RANCHMANS for a reason! These folks know their way around a cow like a GPS knows its way around traffic. The beef was so perfectly cooked, I'm pretty sure the ghost of every rancher in Alberta was nodding in approval. The service was absolutely phenomenal - complete with white glove presentation that made me feel fancier than I probably deserved. I kept waiting for someone to tell me I was in the wrong place and escort me back to my usual haunt of Subway sandwich artists (who are lovely, but definitely don't wear white gloves). The ambiance? Chef's kiss This historical club oozes more character than a Dickens novel. Every corner whispers stories of Calgary's past, and I'm pretty sure some of the leather chairs have seen more history than most textbooks. Walking through felt like stepping into a time machine, if time machines came with better lighting and way better food. The bar situation is next level - these bartenders could probably make a cocktail blindfolded while riding a mechanical bull. Every drink was crafted with the precision of a Swiss watchmaker and the flair of a Vegas showman. Speaking of weddings - this has got to be one of the absolute best wedding venues in Calgary. The wedding I attended here was hands down the best wedding I've ever been to, and trust me, I've been to my share of "dance floor cleared by Uncle Bob's interpretive dance" celebrations. Everything was flawless, from the stunning setting to the impeccable execution. Now here's the catch (because there's always a catch, isn't there?): this is a members club. So unless you know someone, you're basically that kid with their face pressed against the candy store window. My advice? Start befriending people immediately. Offer to walk their dogs, help them move, learn their middle names - whatever it takes to get an invite back. I'm currently considering taking up golf, learning to say "indeed" with a straight face, and possibly adopting a distinguished mustache just to increase my chances of membership. Bottom line: If you can find any way to experience Ranchmans Club - whether through membership, befriending a member, or pulling off the most elaborate wedding crasher scheme since Owen Wilson's heyday - DO IT. Your taste buds will thank you, and you'll have stories to tell for years

The bar was outside of the room and there was 2 lines towards the middle. It wasn't too long of a wait as the bartender was efficient. There were chairs and a few tables set up, and standing space to mingle before dinner. The room we were in was a semi circle with tables and chairs set up. The chairs weren't too close together so enough room for walking with dinner plates. The buffet was set up one side of the room. The desserts were at the front of the line so you can head straight for those if you want desserts for dinner. The dinner has a great selection of salads, vegetables. and the salmon was delicious. There was also a breaded chicken item but it was dry and hard. The salmon was definitely the best hot food. After dinner there was a panel discussion and a stage with chairs and a podium. There's capability for a slideshow but only with the curtains closed and stage not in use. I liked this venue for an event and would come back!

I have been lucky enough to come here on a few occasions, as it's a members only club. First time as for a friends stagette, her future Father in Law is one of the managers, second time was for a charity gala. Th stagette was much more enjoyable as we got to be in the wine cellar downstairs, by ourselves and had our own private party. We have a 5 or 6 course meal and it was to die for. At the charity event it was 4 and was ok, they were able to accommodate me being celiac, which meant I got a plain grilled chicken breast. The place is gorgeous inside, but parking is a nil. If you have the chance to attend a function here, I highly recommend to do so.

Venue change? Ah yes. It seems to me that this guy owes someone some favors. These kids hire him on to make their night memorable. Instead, venue change after venue change, (incidentally costing other small businesses lost revenue after shutting down their locations for these events), he takes the cash from the grads and their parents, and basically runs with it. Do not book through this person. You are better off contacting the venues yourself. Most small business owners would be happy to accomodate your group!

We all went to her grad banquet, her date had his car there for convenience, as the banquet was not far from the venue and they planned to leave early to go to another event. The venue was changed to some bussed out location-only notice to ticket holders was on Nocturnals Facebook site. My daughter is not a frequent face-booker-nor am I. No where on the tickets or transaction details does it state that if the event changes in any way to be watching a social network. No email advising of such was sent out. My refund request was turned down based on... quoting nocturnal "250 students were able to find and figure out there was a venue change" "it is not our fault you did not see any of the posts about the venue change" rude rude rude and extremely inconsiderate. Do not use this company to plan any of your events. I only rate 1 star because you can't rate zero.

Cobbs Adventure Park in Calgary AB was definitely a great and fun place to visit !!!…read moreIt is a mix of zoo, activities, games and rides for the kids and family, a little restaurant and sweets stand :) The zoo is a bit of an animal farm with two capybaras, kangaroos and wallabies, sheep, goats, pigs, porcupines, emus, chickens / roosters and a turkey, and a sloth. Part of the experience is that, with the purchase of tickets, you can go into the capybara enclosure and meet the capys, feed and pet them. We are big fans of capybaras, we saw them in person at the Edmonton zoo, and follow many accounts on Instagram, but this was our first time meeting and petting them. They are super relaxed and super friendly. We had the opportunity to feed them fruits and greens, which was so funny!! We then visited the kangaroos and wallabies. Both were friendly, soft and used to humans. We visited with them, and fed them foods. We visited and interacted with the sheep and alpacas, which were also nice to see and pet. The staff of the park were very friendly and professional, and answered any questions visitors would have about animals. The ambiance was very nice - visiting with the animals, having a snack or busy with the games, it was a great day to enjoy the outdoors and animals!!
