Between the ages of 9 - 13, my weekdays in June - August were spent at this oasis of a summer camp. Surrounded by hundreds of other campers my age, here, camp nurtured my love for the outdoors. Never once was I unhappy about being dropped off here to enjoy the splendors that is Ramsbottom. Early mornings are spent sitting in tribes and villages (according to age) while staff takes attendance for the day. Here, daily activities are reviewed for each activity and contests are competed in for points tallied weekly to distribute pizza parties. From here children ages 9+ (correct me if i'm wrong) are able to walk freely around the camp visiting its various areas, while younger children are lead around in groups. A Pool, Indian Lore, Pioneering (ropes courses, etc), Arts n' Crafts, Theater, Nature, Archery, Cooking, Rocketry, Fishing, Sports, Riflery, Mini Golf, Petting Zoo. . . .to name a few. . . are the activities provided at the camp. Awards are given out in a ceremony each Friday in regards to contests throughout the week or particularly outstanding campers for each activity. Groups meet for lunch in the middle of the day (meals provided if indicated) where attendance is taken again. One thing this camp is good at is not losing or endangering children. Attendance is taken 3 times throughout the day . . .some activities have age limits and training requirements before participation is allowed (such as archery and riflery). Staff is extremely friendly and outgoing, activities never boring, safety-oriented, nature-friendly. Great experience for any child. . . and even staff!!! read more

I remember going for a session here years ago as a kid it was okay from what I remember is there tons of stuff to do games a petting zoo and a pool when I went I got teased a lot always quiet and didn't make any friends I remember it being 100 degrees one day walking thru the woods it was fun but not for everyone read more

You might be wondering why my review is a 1, the reason for my 1-star rate is because I needed some swim trunks to go in the pool, so I went to the nurse's office and I asked for some trunks in which the Nuse replied with an attitude, "you can't just go in with the shorts you have on", I said politely, "no". She keyed digging through the bucket of swim shorts and me and my friends spotted a Ninja Turtle one and chuckled in which the Nuse said if it's that funny then you can leave, I went silent, she continued to dig through the bucket and pull out a swim trunk that was my size and said I doubt this could fit you and told me to leave (mind you I went the previous year and they gave me some swim trunks without a side of attitude). read more

in camp ramsbottom it doesnt look like much when i was dropped off it looked amazing!this should be 20 star rating instead of five. Im 8 writing this review i know my grammer isnt really good and you may think im dumb,i know im young but,my mind is well beyond my years. anyways!i heard that you walk through woods swim and pet zoo animals! also a reminder when your walking through the woods make sure to wear long pants/clothes bugs cant bite you in! read more

My daughter loved Camp Ramsbottom- we are new to the area and the camp was recommended to us by several people. So glad it was, because my daughter was excited about going every morning and had the best stories to tell at the end of the day. We had originally planned on a different camp for the following summer, but because of her positive experiences at Ramsbottom, she'll attend there instead. My only recommendation for improvement would be the bus route- from where we live, the bus stops take as long to get to as the camp, once you factor in commuter traffic, etc. It would be great to have a stop somewhere along Fall River Ave for the folks who live closer in south/central Rhode Island. read more

Bullying is definately an issue here. Unless they are in the 8 year old group where they go to each activity together, your kid is on their own. They walk to each activity independently and if there is an older kid who wants to pick on a younger kid, as was the case with my son, there is noone to stop them. On the last day of camp I brought an issue to their attention and was told that I was being unfair as it was the last day of camp and they couldn't resolve the problem. They didn't even want to know the details, but said that maybe we were better off attending another camp next year. This was from the director! My kids have gone here for many years. One became a CIT and then a counselor. This place is fantastic. The facilities are fantastic, minus a few hiccups with the pool one year (out of 10 summers). Staff are extremely helpful and accommodating. Younger children travel in groups, older kids can make their own plans with peers of their choosing, but older kids do have group check-ins with a designated counselor multiple times a day. Staff are present through out the campus and make sure all kids are participating in some area or activity. As with any program with a large amount of children some kids are going to have concerns with behavior. One year when my sons group had a child who had behavioral difficulties the other child was given the support they needed to be more successful in the group. The staff were very responsive to our concerns. If you are looking for a summer camp for your child you have to take a look during one of the open houses. read more

Camp Ramsbottom is a weekday camp that kids from the ages of 6-13 can attend during the weekdays of the summer. This camp provides a wide range of activities that campers can participate in that include Archery, Basketball, Drama, Field Games, Marksmanship, Tennis, Swimming, Volleyball, and more. This camp runs in four two week sessions throughout the summer. The campers are organized into groups by age into tribes led by a councilor. Lunch is provided by the camp and campers will report to the activity they are assinged to go to for lunch. You do not have to worry about kids being endangered at the camp because attendance is taken three times a day. During the two weeks of one session each week tribes will compete for tribe points. With tribe points you and your tribe can win a contest and have a party of some sort like a pizza party. Other contests include the dodge ball tournament which campers can make their own team and name and compete against other campers. This is only a couple of the many things this camp has to offer. I have gone to this camp for the past two years and am going again this year. I have also met many friends at this camp and enjoyed it a-lot. The only drawback to this camp is the price.
