After seven years, my daughter is in her very last year and all I can say is that she is already sad about it. She only wished it was an overnight camp because she never wanted to leave. There arent words that can truly express how I feel about this place. The facilities are beautiful and the staff treat you like extended family. More importantly are the cherished memories and the happiness that it has brought to our child over the years....truly priceless.

The staff (from counselors to instructors) is also fantastic and a group of very experienced professionals. The directors are always developing new programs and bringing in the latest activities for campers of all ages. One of the newest additions to the camp is the climbing wall and zip line. My kids could not get enough of them. My kids are also huge fans of animals and the fact that Deerkill has a pony, and a couple of friendly alpacas is a great plus. Overall, I would recommend Deerkill to anyone that would like to provide their kids with the opportunity to have summers they will never forget making life long friends along the way. They not only fed one of our sons (who has many anaphylactic allergies ), one of his main listed anaphylactic allergens which resulted in us having to medicate him for an anaphylactic reaction, they also kept one of his home-packed lunches over a weekend and then FED him the OLD leftover moldy lunch on the following Monday instead of the new lunch we sent in, despite him complaining to one of the staff in the cafeteria that it didn't taste right, and with our other twin? One of the teenage camp counselors was tired of him taking so long to catch up with the rest of the group (he was lagging behind due to chronic congenital knee problems- he's had seven total knee surgeries as of now at age 14, then was 7 and had already had two knee surgeries), so the camp staff pushed him down a wet slope to hurry him along, causing him to fall on his arm, which caused a buckle fracture= BREAKING HIS ARM. Our son told us a few years later that the counselor kid was frustrated with him and pushed him down the slope and that was why he fell (the camp told us he was "running, racing with the camp staff" ). If we had known at the time, we would've sued (and we've never sued anyone). DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE!!! I will never, ever recommend this camp to anyone. I normally do not post poor reviews, however this camp scarred us. We've never sent our kids to any other camps after our experience here due to the threats they posed to our kids' safety and health. Our kids have pled with us over the years to go to camps and the same old phrase pops up: "No guys, remember Gate Hill?" Followed by: "Oh Yeah." They ruined summer camps for us as a family. Please look elsewhere. No matter how fun or friendly a place is, it's not worth jeopardizing your children's well being, safety or lives. Pictures included to legitimize review. He has been enjoying summers at Gate Hill day camp for three years in a row. Where do I start? The facilities are neat and modern. The staff is very personable, enthusiastic and cheerful and overall the Camp is run very smoothly and professionally. On a day to day basis the Camp runs like a well oiled machine providing the children with a wide variety of activities and different themes for each day. They add some nice personal touches by providing daily summaries of what the kids did each day and text message updates to let you know if the buses are running behind due to traffic. As parents, we couldn't be happier that our son is growing as a person, learning different sports and games and making great friends in a safe and beautiful environment .

I have recently been informed that my child will NOT be wearing a cap and gown at the graduation ceremony on Friday June 14, 2013, but the Full-Time Kindergarten children will be wearing a cap and gown! This brings me great disappointment, sadness, and quite honestly anger. This is simply UNACCEPTABLE! I am curious to know who decided that the part time Kindergarten classes were not to be given a cap and gown? They are all one graduating class, whether they are Part Time or Full Time. They are all practicing their "graduation" songs. They all sit in the same classroom and have the same teacher! It is just awful that ALL the students worked hard all year and most parents have worked hard with their children all year and now their accomplishments are going completely unnoticed! They will be at the graduation ceremony segregated!!!!! I, as a parent, feel my child deserves to wear a cap and gown and feel like he is one with his class. As parents, we deserve to see our child graduate or move up as a CLASS - what message is that going to send to the CHILDREN that only some kids were given a cap and gown to wear?? I would like to know how the person who made this decision would feel if this was his/her child and they were not "part of the class" because they only attended part time and how his/her child would feel as being different because they weren't given a cap and gown on their monumental occasion! I can almost be certain he/she, too, would be disappointed and angered by this situation. Maybe everyone should take a minute to think about it - really think about it if this was their child's year in Kindergarten and they were being overlooked! We were INVITED to the ceremony and signed up to bring stuff to the ceremony, but my child will not wear a cap and gown? Invitations were extended to grandparents and extended family, but to do what exactly? Video and take pictures of a graduating class with half the class in regular clothes and the other half in caps and gowns? How SILLY will that look! People are taking the day off of work or leaving early to make this event for what reason exactly? I'm sure they are expecting something MUCH more than what they are going to be getting. I have a feeling there is going to be many many disappointed and angry parents that will not be expecting something this ridiculous. I know I am not the only parent who feels this way since many other parents who were informed of this situation have also expressed concern to me. Obviously action needs to be taken. The only way to make this right is to order caps and gowns for the ENTIRE graduating class and have them over-nighted for Friday's ceremony. Hopefully we can get something done for our children who deserve something so much more than they are getting and us as parents want. I sincerely hope that this situation is rectified quickly. This "technicality" is something that will not be ignored by me.
