There's really no other way around it. I do feel that a place like this should have exceptional coffee as well. I got a flat white and it was only just okay The set up for coming in and ordering and then needing to move outside so you don't feel like you're crowding the register while you wait for your coffee drink is a little bit of a mess. They should have a better flow here or if they're going to have coffee have it off to the side or something. But it's really all about the pastry here and that's the star. Then I got my fish dinner--pan sautéed bass, cooked Sicilian style. Just ok. Sauce was nice, rich--I learned that must be Sicilian style--but about 40% of fish was undercooked (I love sushi so raw is not the issue). I guess I was just expecting more. Service ok though strange in many ways. First waitress was engaging, then wasn't able to answer a question I had such as "what is that" so she brought in someone else--she was great, then disappeared. Ordered a couple of Old Fashions--very good--someone would bring them over, with no response when they placed it on my table. I said hello, and nothing. But you know how Americans are, we value that stuff more than most people do so no big deal. I want to rate this place higher, in my heart I have been thinking of this place for a long while.
