Needed a late night bite to eat yesterday and decided to check out this place for some pizza. Brian thought it was awesome and I thought it was pretty good but nothing spectacular. All of the pizzas are as is. Literally - what you see is what you get. The slices are not warmed up for you but it seems like the norm here in London. The dough was so fluffy and chewy. We both really enjoyed it and dipped a lot of the crust in olive oil and vinegar. Dessert - there is a good variety. I went with the tiramisu since it is one of my all time favorite desserts and I thought it was average if not below average. It's one of those places you would stop at if you were nearby and wanted a quick bite but nothing you would go out of the way to get to. read more

My husband and I came here on a Saturday night about 6 pm. The self serve section was bustling so we decided to have sit down service in the restaurant section. The server took our order quickly and kindly brought us our drinks. We had ordered a pizza and pasta and figured it would come out in no time. We ended up waiting for thirty minutes before asking the hostess about our order. We noticed many people who got seated after us receive their meals and though it was strange. The hostess checked on it and rushed the kitchen to make our order. It came out shortly after that. She apologized and kindly took off an item from our bill. The wait was long but the service was nice, too bad the food was just subpar. The self serve area probably would be a better bet. There, you could see your food and it'd be much quicker. So, I wanted to get a ravioli and spinach from the express side but they told me that I had to wait 5 minutes like 3 times since they were still making it, but they kept on telling me that it was coming. Seriously? After 20 minutes and getting tired of waiting, I decided to just get a table first. I accidentally went to the restaurant side of Princi and so when they gave me the menu, I thought I should just order from here. I waited for the linguine vongole for a while, around 15 minutes, so I was a bit pissed. Luckily, the pasta was incredibly delicious. You can taste the perfect combination of the olive oil, garlic and white wine. It was a feast in my mouth. The clams were also really well-cooked. I loved the food and the waiter was also super friendly, so that's why this place deserves 4 stars. The place looks pretty fancy, even with the takeout express pizzas, pastas, salads and foccacias. Hope they work on their ability to manage the wait. Would definitely come back next time. Hopefully, the ravioli & spinach will be there! read more

Princi is one of my favourite Italian spots in London. A very cozy place, with awesome contemporary Italian decor. Authentic food, with delicious, fresh ingredients. It's almost always crowded, making the service seem rather slow, so you'll definitely need a bit of patience when visiting, but the staff won't let you wait long. However, you'll want to leave plenty of waiting time. Everything about Princi is unbelievably good. The smell of fresh bread and pizza wafts through the air outside of the restaurant, definitely making you want to check it out. Once you step inside, you find that whether from the counter or the menu, the food is incomparable, and the wine is good as well (this is coming from someone that doesn't drink a lot of wine). And if you fancy a dessert, the tiramisu is A-MAZing. Definitely recommended. read more

Wow, I'm so upset that we didn't find this place until the last day we were here... we stopped in because I'd been looking for a crossaint and wow, it was one of the most amazing.. buttery pastries I've ever had in my life. Having made crossaints from scratch before, I have a true appreciation for how much work went into making that pastry so incredibly flaky and layered. The service is fast, there were a lot of people standing around but the attendants behind the counter were incredibly attentive and very efficient at serving everyone -- especially since there was no formal line, there were people just standing all up and down the counter. It's a beautiful little spot, tons of seating and the perfect place to start your day with a coffee and breakfast/morning pastry. I can't speak for the atmosphere/food after breakfast time but I will *absolutely* be back next time I'm in town every day for my morning coffee. read more

Bad ordering? Don't you just hate it? After walking past Princi countless times salivating at their selection of cakes and pastries, I go and choose a cake which is essentially just three inches of cream. Don't get me wrong, I like cream but this had promised to be an Eton mess assembly with tiny layers of meringue and fruit too. Although the central layer remained, the bottom and top were missing (some other lucky customers must have got a bonus sugar rush). How sad. Fortunately, my friends' cakes all fared a little better and they're far too polite to stop me diving in with my fork. I'm not sure any of them tasted quite as good as they looked though and the pretencions surroundings put me off Princi a little. Where's the need for a wall of water? It just made me need the toilet. Waaaaooooh, the food is good in here. Damn good. So good it makes me hungry just thinking about it. Popped in here recently after gazing lustfully for weeks, nay months. Finally managed to get some time and eager buddies to come and sample the delights with me. I went for the millefeuille, which was creamy, nutty and fruity and just absolutely delicious. A friend went for the chocolate and pear tart, which was just yummy though his unfortunate luck to get a tiny bit of pear on his portion... Pizza and cheesecake were also on our menu and we were so happy with our food, we grabbed some salad for dinner. Which was just so so nice, the mozzarella had so much flavour and just melted perfectly... Trouble with Princi though is the seating, it would be fantastic if you could actually sit or not have to fight for a seat or indeed a standing pillar to rest your culinary delights on. BROKEN GLASS from the insufficiently cleaned floor became lodged in my sister's foot and caused BLEEDING. I rushed to explain to the person at the counter, Caroline, who happens to be the manager. Her first words were "that's impossible". She did not apologize until she saw my sister was trying to clean the blood from her foot. There were several tiny shards of glass that were stuck in her foot (see photo). My sister had to remove the glass as it kept breaking up inside the wound herself, with no concern shown from Princi's employees. When we showed the manager where it happened she and her colleague found larger pieces of glass on the floor. She said that a glass was broken on the floor the day prior, which is telling how well the floor had been cleaned, much less "impossible." I was was shocked at the attitude of the manager and also her colleagues who kept saying to wait or speak with someone else when I asked for a plaster/bandage for my sister. It's shockingly bad service that does not seem acceptable for such an establishment. No one seemed to care that my sister had a piece of glass stuck inside her foot and was bleeding, much less provide prompt help. I love the food here but I would avoid this place. I as the client had to tell Caroline that it was dangerous since it's summer and many people wear sandals which she should normally be aware of. Please improve the attitude and service of the people who work here to make sure clients feel safe and reassured when there is an issue. Caroline did state that she did what she could by providing plasters, however with an attitude, disbelief and impoliteness that does not have place in such a restaurant. Please note that she took one of the shards of glass that was inside my sister's foot and then promptly brushed it again on the floor. If you are hungering for a crapton of vegetables and salad mixes (think the type you can get at the Whole Foods pick-your-poison food bar), Princi is definitely the place to hit up. They rotate out the salad selections often, and there is a mix of straight veg (broccoli and green beans, beets, dressed salad greens) to the heartier options like chickpeas and mozzarella cubes, tuna or chicken mixes, salmon and quinoa, etc. The price points are also fair, for a half salad running about £4.50 and the full salad about £8 depending on the lunch or dinner session. They also have a selection of hot foods as well as sandwiches, breads, and pretty pastries. You order at the counter like a true cafeteria, then pay at the end of the row, and pick your seat. There's bar seating and communal tables, making for a very open and friendly atmosphere. There's also a fresh juice bar, cocktails, and your standard espresso-based drinks. Great for a late night bite to eat since they're usually open till around 11-1130 in Soho, and the place is bustling. Just know toward the late evening, they run out of salad options, so you may be stuck with only a few choices to fill that dinner plate. An efficient business model, they keep the place clean and tidy, and feeling very upscale even though it is a cafeteria-like in and out order-eat-and-go process. read more

The interior does not betray your expectation. The dusky brightness of brass tables somehow matches the white marble walls and dark stone floor. The combination gives this large dining space a tasteful refinement without being glitzy. The place is apparently called Princi. I can never remember what it is called. The place is too stylish to have a big banner of their name at the back of the counter. The only branding they have outside the restaurant is very small and the fancy swirly font makes it impossible to decipher what is written. So when I refer to this place, I am usually forced to use rather unsophisticated descriptions such as "that big posh Italian place in SOHO". Hopefully, writing a review will help me remember the name of this charming café. Anyway, the place was as busy as usual when I went in for a dessert break. (I seem to do that a lot these days.) I often see one or two creative types with their laptops (mostly Mac) here but there were none of them that day. God knows what those people do for their lives I joined the group of people who are forming a kind of "organic" queue that you see in good old British pub. When I felt I had waited for a sufficient amount of time as a courtesy, I attracted an attention of one of the servers at the cake section and ordered Cremoso alla fragola (layered berry mousse cake). Food: This three-layered delight came in the shape of a fluffy strawberry mousse sandwiched by a thin sheet of mixed berry jello on top and moist sponge at the base. The little bits of fresh berries in the top jello layer enhance the airy texture of the cake. I like the way all the elements worked together without one dominating another. One other thing to mention is their toilet smells incredible. They have some sort of lemon grass incense that fills the private space with heavenly fragrance. That said, I have only been to male toilet. So I can't speak of female one. I only went there for a tea this time but they also have great food and bakery section. Came here for dinner with my cousin one night, and it was quite busy. The right side of the restaurant is self serve, and the left side is table service. This restaurant is quite large, but it was pretty crowded. When I first walked in, I was quite distracted from huge display of desserts and pastries they had! They all look decadent. I waited for a table for about 10 minutes. The table space was quite cramped, since I could barely get to my table. We ordered the antipasto to share, and I ordered the spaghetti with pancetta, and my cousin ordered the meat pizza. The appetizer came quickly, and there was a good selection of meats. The entrees took quick awhile to come. The server did tell me that the spaghetti takes a little longer, maybe because they're making it extra fresh for me?! Well, both entrees finally came. The spaghetti was good, but a little on the salty side because of the pancetta. I really enjoyed the sauce, and the pasta was cooked very well. Princi is very affordable, especially if you're coming from the U.S., and you are use to cheap food and big portions. They give a good amount of food without breaking your wallet. The only problem is service. I understand that service may not be a big thing here, but I shouldn't have to ask 5 times to the same person for water! Also included in that a nice slice of spinach and mozzarella pizza- I just wish it was served hot rather than lukewarm, as it was cold by the time I got to the table. Also the price included a glass of wine. The place is jam-packed, so expect a queue to pay at the buffet line. Wardour Street is one of my favourite spots on Londons food map and following last weekend, it just got even better. Looking for a relaxed brunch spot on a rainy day I thought a bakery/pizzeria must be the answer. Upon entering the visitor is welcomed by a long display of baked produce and a smiling member of staff eager to find a seating spot for the guest. And that is not an easy task - the place is usually pretty crowded and no wonder, really, given the quality of food and central location. Wanting to sample the bakery bit first I went for the Pistachio Girella, only to find out that these were sold out and the regular girellas were the only ones left. They were not disappointing but I already had pizza on my mind so having decided on Pizza Vesuvio I took a look around. Princi is has quite a nice vibe to it - the decor is minimal with the colour and material palette resembling mediterranean aesthetic. I was seated against a wall but that was actually nice as there is a water rill running through the entire length of the wall fed by metal taps protruding from the wall. The sound of splashing water creates a nice vibe and softens the large volume of noise. Talking about aesthetics I have to mention the toilets - nice touch, Princi. Right, back to my pizza. Vesuvio arrived beautifully sprinkled with radicchio (italian chicory - looks a bit like red cabbage) giving it a pleasant, gourmet look. The toppings included pieces of beef ragu and also olive, fior di latte and black pepper. I prefer my pizzas low in fat so the choice of beef was not spot on but still not at all disappointing. The flavours played well together, softened nicely by fior di latte. A pleasant accent was provided by the lovely waitress distributing amongst the guests pieces if focaccia (drowned in olive) Princi is altogether a relaxed, contemporary Italian eatery that delivers a proper quality without too much fuss. I had researched this restaurant before leaving for London and was pleased to find my expectations exceeded. I didn't know that the place would be so busy - I recommend making a reservation in advance. However, the very nice Maître d brought us menus while we waited in line behind the velvet like ropes at the front of the restaurant. We got a table in the back corner of the sit down area (not the buffet area). While waiting for our food to arrive I snuck over to the buffet style area to order some extra pastries to take home. From the buffet area, I picked up a loaf of semolina bread, chocolate cookie, passion fruit cheesecake, and the black forest cake (recommended by the server). The passion fruit cheesecake was incredible. The square of punchy goodness was the perfect thing to eat as soon as we got back to our flat. After picking my way through the goodies at the bar, I went back to our table. We ordered the bruschetta (comes with tomato basil, olive tapenade, and aubergine), braesaola, rocket, and parmesan antipasti, and margherita pizza. I loved the pizza. The sauce was perfect, not to sweet not too tomatoey. The cheese on the pizza was very fresh and had a really nice flavor to it. We finished our meal off with three profiteroles. As far as we observed the hygiene standards is not very high in London restaurant business, no matter how nice & popular the place, once you see the kitchen & the toilets you regret why you ate there & people don't seem to mind either! BUT this place was so far the only really fresh, clean place we found! Everything was really carefully made & served even tea & coffee had a lid so it wouldn't get cold. They are all Italian ( it's Italian pizza place) & we tried their breakfast which was absolutely beautiful! The price range is a bit higher but it was so worth it! Get here early and be ready to bump elbows with your neighbors since it gets so crowded there's a security guard to control the traffic in and out of the place. I came here with my husband for a lovely dinner to celebrate my bday, was disappointed as I wanted to eat fondue but it was fully booked, therefore we ended up at Princi, and let me say, this place did everything the right way! We were greeted nicely and we were directed to a waiting area while waiting for our table and was given the wait time will be 10 mins and it took less than that! Which is a +!. So we order our drinks which are one Americano and one Bellini, both got a strong kick but good! So I do recommend it. For food, my husband ordered the calzone and I ordered linguine vongole, everything were fresh and delicious, and oh boyyy they don't lay low on the cheese for the calzone! I hadn't been to Soho in a while. I used to work in Soho a few years back and was always seeing new food places open up and close again, for some units, the turn over seemed to be pretty high. However, yesterday on my travels, I found Princi and for some reason I feel that this place isn't going anywhere for a while! I was immediately intrigued by how busy and bustling the place was. People were lured in by the cakes, pastries and biscuits on sale, displayed beautifully may I had. The choice is tremendous but in the end I went for the walnut brownie and took home some tiramisu, both tasty, the tiramisu was gorgeously light and fluffy. This seems like a great place to hang out for a quick shopping break or two convene with friend, it's got a really friendly atmosphere and a brilliant vibrancy to the place. read more

This modern Italian has a nice laid-back atmosphere thanks to the self-service and the long tables but the interior design and the quality of the food give it a classy, elegant feel at the same time. There's also an à la carte seating area but we went for dessert only, so we didn't have to queue and found some free seats quickly. We shared two slices, one Tiramisu and one Passion Fruit Cheesecake. The Tiramisu didn't impress me at all because I could only see and taste cream and cocoa but no coffee and amaretto. The other slice was better, although it tasted nothing like your regular cheesecake but rather like Solero Exotic. As that's one of my favourite ice creams, I wasn't complaining. The sandwiches here are so fresh, you'll forget you're eating in a restaurant. I was waiting for my cousin (who works literally next door to this place at MPC. Lucky guy.) and was starving, and noticed the line out the door. Surprisingly because of the system they have (with pointing to your food and paying at the end of the counter, finding your table and ordering wine in a separate area) works like magic, that you're in and eating this deliciousness within no time. The size matters!! My husband and I went to Princi yesterday night and took two "Quattro Formaggi". The dough was perfect. The pizzas were crispy and very well stuffed, BUT...the size of them was really disappointing. Very small pizzas. Never seen something like this anywhere else. Unfortunately, the price was not small at all. So please next time do not fool customers. We are not stupid!! p.s.: the sausage on your "Salsiccia, Friarielli and Fiordilatte" does not really taste like Norcia sausage (my husband was born and breed in Umbria). I like this place. I don't LOVE it but i like it and have gone more than once. (i went today) ^^ It's almost always busy during normal peak hours~~ and people are going in and out constantly it seems like~~ as soon as you walk in...reservations are to your left (i've personally never made one) and the "line" is directly in front of you... You walk in and you basically kind of stand in line~~ Use good judgement if there's someone waiting....the reason for this is that it looks like a cafeteria lunch line...but if you're only getting desserts just walk in and stand by the desserts if you're getting food pass up the dessert people and stand near the food~ Can be kind of annoying and crazy when it's busy~ After paying for the food at the end of the "lunch line"...if you've paid for drinks you get them at the "bar".. which is at the very back of the entire place. Then you carry your tray and find a seat... Although it's always been busy when i've gone i never waited for a free spot. what i liked: 1. the salad (big plate = pick 4) (small= pick 2) 2. the beef lasagna is good/ very cheesy and rich 3. cakes were OK~ try the passion fruit cheese cake~ loved the tang of the passion fruit 4.
