WARNING:if you are thinking about taking your car to Campbell Auto, you better think twice. I took my car in for the AC. After paying $107 the AC stopped working in less than 2 hours. In addition, an oil change turned into a disaster. The tech did not fully tighten the oil filter so much of the oil leaked over my garage floor. To make matters worse, the tech stripped the drain plug making it nearly impossible to remove it in the future. The solution was to find a qualified local repair shop that hires qualified techs. read more

I'd like to start by saying I got completely ripped off. I needed my brakes and rotors done and it was way over 300 dollars. Oh and that's not including the breaks and rotors because I purchased them ahead of time. I could only imagine how much more they would have charged me for ordering the parts and all. This is the first time I decided not to take a car to the dealership and try this car repair place...3 trips and almost a $1,000 dollar later the car is still not fixed Called to be told to drop the car Sunday night.... it's Wednesday and they never even looked at it, I was told they had way too much work and only 2 people working that they could not even look at my car. $300 for a negative battery terminal replacement on a 2003 Honda. It would take a 5 year old, 15 minutes to replace the part. They charged $100 for a $15 part, then $200 for replacing a single 12" wire on top of the engine. AND they did the work without confirmation from the owner. The family has taken cars there for years, but the overcharging has happened a number of times. The were once good, but, seems they have turned to the dark side. Highly NOT recommended. read more

Please save yourself some time and money and read this before you go in to see this shop. I took my car in November for an overheating problem and was told it was the water pump, so had them replace it for $450. Three months later the car starts overheating again and I am told it is the thermostat this time and they can fix it for $248. Not only did it take three days to get the car back it began overheating again within 24 hrs. Instead of taking it back to this shop, I took my Camaro to Estero Bay Chevrolet. Within three hours they determined the thermostat housing (that was suppose to be replaced) was never replaced and siliconed together still leaking. From the dealer the write up states: "Thermostat was leaking at all the gaskets from the housing to the block. The lines were leaking due to the previous shop not replacing the gaskets and O rings properly and used white silicone on piping and shoved them back into hole not properly sealing. Also, noticed whoever did the work, broke the harness ties right side of engine and only one bolt of the four that hold the cover of housing thermostat were attached." Pictures provided This is what the dealer had stated and printed out on report, these people are crooks and very unprofessional. Please don't make the same mistake I did and pay a little more to get quality work before you need an engine from improper repair. read more

When I read down at other reviews complaint about a $300 complete brake job I am stunned, anywhere in this town brake jobs as described are closer to $1000. I had my car towed September 10th to have the fuel pump replaced a 30 min job! It's a bmw e46 it's right under the back seat takes longer to replace a spark plug and it's still not done October 1st having it picked up Monday morning should have known when I got charged 1500$ to change rotors on my truck. I'm disabled and can't do the the work but come the f on used to be a good place 10 years back. read more

I have serviced all my cars here. They are honest and fair. The work was done right the first time.

A complete ripoff stay as far away from this place as you can. had a car in for stalling out and not restarting. They replaced the fuel pump and charged me $900.00 doller's. This did not fix the problem. After looking over the bill I noticed they never replaced the fuel filter which would have been the first thing a qualified tech would and should of looked at. However they said to bring it back and they would replace the fuel filter. This however did not fix the problem, and so broke down and had to have towed back again!! This time John said the coils were bad! and the cost to replace them was going to be $1,200.00 Parts John said would be $900.00 and the labor to install another $300.00 including the cost of diagnosing the problem? !!! The cost of the parts to buy walking into a local parts store a nobody was $200.00 This is without any discount which they do get. I understand they need to make a profit on the parts and in most cases that is double but $900.00 !!!!!! Then when I said no and had the car picked up they charged me $70.00 diagnosing the problem!!!! I will tell you if you care about family and friends the last place you want the is Campbell's Auto Center. They should been called We Change Parts Until the Jobs Fixed. read more

Super disappointed with this place. Totally ripped me off (assuming because they saw I had a nice car and figured they could). $150 for a full synthetic oil change and another $150 for a tire rotation and cabin air filter change. I would have been out the door for the same price and services with my high end dealership. And my car would have been washed/included a rental for the day. I also dropped the car off at 9:30am and was told it would be ready by noon or 1pm. When I showed up at 1:40pm, they admitted they hadn't even looked at my car yet! So then they said it would be another 30 minutes... nearly two hours later I got my car back. Ridiculous. read more

I was really disappointed bringing my car here. I brought in my Hyundai Elantra at 8 AM because it was being weird when I would reverse. It was there until they closed only for them to tell me there was nothing wrong with it & to "drive the shit out of it". A few days later I took it to a dealership and they had told me my brakes were basically gone. Not sure how this wasn't caught but I am glad I found out before something bad could have happened. Such an amazing place to go for your car. The people here are honest and don't overcharge or makes things up like many auto places. They walked me through every step and were friendly and kind. Amazing customer service! I will be going back here for my oil changes and if I ever have any other issue that needs to be worked on. My wife and I are RV'ers from Indiana. We are currently in Estero volunteering in the Koreshan State Historic Site. Yesterday our truck began spewing anti freeze all over the engine. Campbell's was recommended to us by folks who live in the area. Being an out of towner who has been bitten by auto repair in other locales, I took it to Campbell's with some trepidation but was pleasantly surprised by the prompt service and the reasonable prices. We like this part of Florida and it is a relief to know that we can come here and have a place for auto service should I need it. I have no problem with recommending this shop. read more

I was stumped by an electrical problem that kept my alternator from charging. I worked on it myself. Changed the alternator twice. Checked the fuses and wire connections. Worked on it over a week. I was shockingly stumped. I've been tinkering since I was a kid and fixed alternator problems in my sleep. The people at Campbell found a broken wire underneath the fuse box. It took them a bit over an hour. I would have never looked there. The final price was fair and inexpensive. The service was friendly and courteous. I'm new to SWFL and it is amazing that I found a mechanic I could trust so soon. That took decades to find in NY. There are a few complaints here. Mostly a testament to how busy a shop Campbell is. All I can say about that is, it's for a reason and there are worst problems to have with auto shops! read more

They put the wrong part on our Yukon and wouldn't make it right. We needed to have our rear axel replaced; they replaced it with the incorrect part. Instead of changing it out to the correct axel, they tried to accommodate the incorrect one with new gears; which did not work. This process has taken two and a half weeks. The problem still isn't fixed and now their mechanic is giving us an attitude when it was their mistake all along and we've been out our family car for 2.5 weeks. We paid $2500 for a part that was incorrect and our car still isn't fixed. Unacceptable. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE! read more

I called several days ahead and asked when I could bring in my car for a transmission flush. Was by told by the male who answered that depending on how busy they were I might have to leave the car for an afternoon, but if so I would be given a ride back home about a mile away. When I arrived I was greeted by a frowning female who listened impatiently while I explained what I was told, and she informed me that they were busy and they did not run a taxi service. When I explained again that I had been promised a ride, she remarked, "by who, the fairy god mother?" I said "Okay, you obviously don't need my business," and I walked out the door. She then called out, "Well, maybe I can find someone to take you." But I had had enough and went down the road and found a shop that gave good service by workers who knew how to treat customers. I wish I could give zero stars because that's what this place deserves. Called on a Friday morning to see if they could check something out on my car and they said yes. Dropped it off around 9:30 am that same morning and by 4:30 pm still hadn't heard anything. Stopped in there on our way home and got some roundabout answer that it may still get looked at that day or it may not. Never got a phone call before they closed that it still hadn't been looked at, so my car was left there overnight, unlocked because they had the key. No one bothered to ask if I needed my car the next day, if it's ok for them to keep it overnight, nothing. Lucky for them, I didn't need it the next day. Next day, 11 am, still hadn't heard from them. Called to find out what was going on and was told my car will be looked at next. 1:30 pm rolls around, 30 minutes before they close, still nothing. We show up at 1:50 pm to pick up my car and are told "the guy is going to get it and look at it right now." We tell them no thanks, our car has been sitting there for two days and we need it back. Enough is enough. Didn't get an apology, didn't get an explanation, didn't get anything. Our point here? Don't bother with this place at all unless you want awful "service" and want to completely waste your time. No idea how they've remained in business for so long if this is how they treat their customers. read more
