We started with a lesson off to the side and with a closer target, and the instructor was very patient. Then we continued practicing and he moved the targets a little further on our last round. There were a couple kids also practicing on the regular targets. The space isn't that big. They also charge a 3% credit card fee. $45 per person

They have sent quite a few of their students to the national team (only the Top 4 qualify!!) and even non-USAT students regularly bring home medals for each division at local, regional, state and national tournaments--ours included. However, bear in mind that because of the immense popularity and demand for the coach (and regular tournaments), parents have to understand the system and put into it as much as they take out. Confirm appointments as the coaches are sometimes attending tournaments. It took some time to navigate but i learned that archery is not an easy or cheap sport if you're looking to go all in and demands mutual parental guidance and support. We started this as a fun hobby but now our family is obsessed with the sport. If you are looking for this level of professional training, I would recommend patience, in-person appointments, and communications when Coach Shin is not in the middle of private lessons and training students for nationals and constant presence to help your child. If you are just doing it for fun or a beginner, SW has now hired Coach Chris who is super friendly, available and accommodating; he is there on specific days, usually Monday, Thursdays, Fridays, and some weekends if we're not at a tournament. Martin, who frequently gives me feedback and answers every question I have, recently recommended that I take the Olympic recurve intermediate class. The class was very thorough, and Martin made sure to cover the fundamentals necessary to transition from a beginner to an intermediate level. During the hour, we worked on refining my under-chin anchor, improving my posture and alignment, developing my follow-through, and introducing me to a more advanced setup. Every adjustment was made with a detailed explanation as to how they improve accuracy and consistency. Throughout the class, Martin gave me advice that improved the mental and physical aspects of my shooting. Afterward, we discussed purchasing my first recurve setup from the ProShop, and he gave thoughtful advice on selecting each component of my kit so it was practical and stayed within my budget. The class ends with a few competitive games which is nice, and the prize is a free hour of archery for your next visit. Would highly recommend the intro class if you're a beginner. Staff are very friendly and helpful! They stop and help you to give you pointers. One of the staff members was making sarcastic remarks under her breath about some beginners who were practicing which I found very unprofessional and disrespectful, but other than that, all of the other staff members were very friendly and helpful. To rent a lane for one hour, it's $18 plus $15 for all-day equipment rental. Overall, I would highly recommend this place for archery!

They have a small seating area where you can wait and watch other shoot in the meantime. There's a jacket rack in the hallway and a bathroom available. The staff there was very sweet and welcoming, and our instructor, whose name I didn't catch (tall, long hair), was a great teacher in going through safety and the basics & giving pointers and answering questions! Our lesson just had around 4 people total to begin with, and then 2 joined later, which seemed decent (since you have to wait until the last person clears shooting before we all grab our arrows again). After you're finished, you have the option to take your target sheet with you if you'd like a small momento! It was such a fun experience for me personally and a great date night place. Would definitely do it again and recommend it, especially for anyone who wants to try out archery!

They helped me pick the best release for my fit, arrows to suit my hunting goals and a sweet bag to hold everything! They customized the bow to fit me perfectly and let me shoot my new arrows to see how everything felt. They gave encouragement and guidance, while tweaking my bow as they saw it in action. I came here on a Saturday afternoon for a 90 minute class, actual shooting time is probably about only 10-15 min total as there are about 12-14 of us so need to share and rotate the targets. Plus there was a regular class right before us that they start only 30 min before us so that means more waiting in between the shooting. The instructors are very skilled however and knew what they were talking about and they take safety very seriously so I felt safe the whole time and didn't have any urges to mess around :-) Location is inside a church in the gymnasium area, if you get lost just ask the people around and they will guide you nicely to the archery area. The friend of my friend had some last minute scheduling problems, and they accommodated us very promptly. Keep in mind that this was still two days in advance. Both of the times that I went the instructors were very helpful and informative. There were lots of moments to chuckle at little jokes they made to lighten the mood and help people relax. They had games at the end of each training. As we shot the trainers assessed our performance only to help make slight adjustments that always made improvements.

If it's your first time, you get to do a super-fun introductory class (that's accessible to everyone of all ages and levels of athleticism - including "basically none") that teaches you the basics while also keeping it really entertaining with mini-competitions and such. Definitely a great group activity to try out with friends / family. After doing the intro lesson, you're free to sign up any time afterwards for your own private lane to practice in for 1-2 hours or so (bumping you up from a 5-yard distance from your target to a 10-yard one) - and the staff will keep checking in on you and giving you pointers and suggestions to improve your game. Speaking of which, they're all super friendly and knowledgeable - Nas, Ace, Simon and the rest, all great guys with lots of patience and sunny dispositions. It's roughly $35 for 1 hour of use of the space and to rent out a bow and some arrows (and the extra coaching is free) - a very reasonable deal in NYC. My wife and I have been coming back at least twice a month since the Winter and we've had a blast every visit. Super fun to watch yourself progress and get more and more accurate too. And as an added bonus, it's smack dab in the middle of Chinatown - tons of great spots to eat at around here, after an hour of archery. Would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting or living here.
