I took my archery intro class here with Robi, and loved it so much I've been coming here often for the past month for lane rentals. The staff here are super helpful in terms of pointing out where improvement could be made. Martin, who frequently gives me feedback and answers every question I have, recently recommended that I take the Olympic recurve intermediate class. The class was very thorough, and Martin made sure to cover the fundamentals necessary to transition from a beginner to an intermediate level. During the hour, we worked on refining my under-chin anchor, improving my posture and alignment, developing my follow-through, and introducing me to a more advanced setup. Every adjustment was made with a detailed explanation as to how they improve accuracy and consistency. Throughout the class, Martin gave me advice that improved the mental and physical aspects of my shooting. Afterward, we discussed purchasing my first recurve setup from the ProShop, and he gave thoughtful advice on selecting each component of my kit so it was practical and stayed within my budget. This is a great place for archery! I took an introductory class (1 hour) here and had a great time. The instructor spoke a bit too fast so make sure you listen carefully. The class starts off with the instructor explaining a lot of basics about archery followed by several practice rounds. Each round the instructor introduces a new point or two to be mindful of which is very helpful. They walk around to make sure you're doing everything correctly and guide you throughout. The class ends with a few competitive games which is nice, and the prize is a free hour of archery for your next visit. Would highly recommend the intro class if you're a beginner. Staff are very friendly and helpful! They stop and help you to give you pointers. One of the staff members was making sarcastic remarks under her breath about some beginners who were practicing which I found very unprofessional and disrespectful, but other than that, all of the other staff members were very friendly and helpful. To rent a lane for one hour, it's $18 plus $15 for all-day equipment rental. Overall, I would highly recommend this place for archery! read more

This was a date night plan that turned out really great. We took the beginner's class, which is a requirement before you actually rent a lane. Our instructor, Martin, was funny, informative, and insightful. I learned more about archery in those first 15 minutes than I had in my entire life. He was very directive about what was important to employ in terms of technique, things to look out for (like when retrieving your arrow or if you happen to drop one, and your quill could accidentally become a hazard), and where to keep focus. I think my target speaks volumes for how well they make sure you understand what you're doing. I only wish that I could have taken more pictures and video, but it wasn't clear whether or not we could, and I didn't want to introduce a potential hazard (to them or myself). Great experience. I had my 40th birthday party at Gotham Archery after being inspired by the Olympics and it was THE BEST! They decorated the space with balloons and confetti, which was a nice touch :) We had two instructors because of the size of our group and they were both AWESOME. They were really patient and helped everyone learn the basics and even improve throughout the course of the 2 hours. After the instruction, they turned on the blacklights and we got competitive and played a few games. Overall, such a great experience; 10 out of 10 would recommend; 5 stars; no notes! I never knew that I I had the potential to be Katniss Everdeen or Hawkeye until I went to a birthday party here with about 10 of my friends. My friend had been wanting to do this for a long time and I originally thought I would suck at it but guess who hit the bullseye multiple times?! All praise goes to the instructor, whose name I sadly forgot but they were amazing. The instructions were thorough but very clear and they individually supported us whenever we were confused or doing something dangerous. I absolutely loved my visit here and can't wait to go back. Did a surprise date here for an introductory class and it was one of the most fun things I've done this year! You'd think an hour wouldn't be enough to get some shooting done, but our instructor, Russell, was stellar. He hit home all of the important safety bits with lots of well timed humor, a great playlist, and great tips! We all left better archers than when we arrived! It was also nice to see how much the employees enjoyed being around each other. We had a few drop ins and everyone was so helpful and funny, it was a really fun evening. The rental prices for the lanes and the equipment are super reasonable as well and Russell informed us that they are a pro shop, so don't buy anything off of Amazon. Came for the intro class. Really had such a great time. There were only three of us total in the intro class with Devin. He was such an amazing teacher with also the technical aspects but also personable character that made the experience one to recommend. I felt like I really learned a lot about archery and even won one of the games we played to prove it. They prepare you well and you can opt for two different type of bows, which was also a plus. After a year of coming here, I decided to write this review. This is mainly a review about the Brooklyn location. I was looking for a new hobby and after doing some research, tried GA. It has been a great experience since the beginning. The prices are super reasonable and places are conveniently located (the entry to the Manhattan location a little hidden). All staff are very chill and willing to help out give tips and assist. Very professional about all things safety, pragmatics for those wanting to buy a bow. You can tell a place is overall good when the staff are having a good time and the customers are able to easily join the interaction. They make the introductory (safety) class fun and noticed each time I see new people leaving after it, they seemed happy. The rental process includes bow, arrow, arm guard, target for a very cheap price. It's also very easy to book. With having a Manhattan location, it's also easy to go there if you want; just need to sign a waiver for that location. The weekday is usually less crowded (as expected) yet still has solid number of customer; weekends are fuller (as expected). read more

I was looking for a fun date activity while out on the town in Brooklyn this past weekend and Gotham Archery immediately came back to mind. Our instructor was Ryan, who was super funny, witty and very detail oriented. His instructions were clear, concise and easy to follow. I didn't quite catch the name of the gentleman who was assisting the class, but he was equally amazing and quite friendly. My girlfriend and I had such a blast learning the basic techniques of both the recurve bow and the compound bow. Did the intro class, as I'm looking to get back into archery and 100% want to make it a regular thing. So I signed up and went! The teacher Nat was hilarious and informative, and Robi was quick to help when we broke into lanes. I have wrist issues which made me worried this was futile, but Nat quickly found me a comfortable bow and I had no problem! The class was stream lined, easily explained, and well worth every penny. The process for individual lanes and equipment rental is amazing (and fantastic pricing). Knowing that I can eventually come back, and hopefully invest more time and money into my own gear all it one place, is amazing. I booked the introductory class for my partner's birthday and we had a blast. The class is an hour. You have to sign a waiver in advance and they are very adamant about starting on time. They provide a thorough safety and instructional demonstration for about ten minutes and then you spend the balance of the time practicing. You can choose between two different bow types to use during the class, but you can't switch to the other one after you've made your choice. You will get about four or five rounds of practice which is sufficient to get a hang of the basics. They also suggest fun challenges with prizes like shooting for a letter on the target instead of the bull's eye and shooting at balloons. They take safety very seriously, which is great. An assistant instructor was on hand to provide personalized tips and corrections. Great activity for dates or groups. I'm looking forward to taking the intermediate class next! read more

Safety there is excellent, unlike other archery ranges which are sloppy and lax regarding arrow retrieval. "Bows Down" and "Bows UP" clearly and loudly sounded to prevent serious injury. Group classes are solid. Staff are pleasant and seem to enjoy being there. Personal classes are well taught and effective. Pro-shoppe is nicely equipped and operated. Unfortunately, I didn't do enough arm workouts prior to class in preparation for holding the bow. But the class was so fun! As a new archer, the 1 hour intro class was $40. You can sign the online wavier before coming in. The entrance door can be hard to find, as we almost missed it. The place is split into a free range area on the right for the regulars and the more experienced, and then the intro class area on the left. There are also lockers available to rent. Our instructor was so chill, throwing in jokes here and there. There are also assistant trainers walking around to help us throughout the class. Everyone was really patient with us and super encouraging! The class had around 12 people. We started off sitting down and learning about setting up the arrow, the bow, and how to position ourselves. Then, we got right to practicing with 4 arrows each session. You go through several rounds of hitting the bullseye. The faster your group finishes each round, the more rounds you would have. At the end, there was a speed accuracy game where the first person to pop 4 balloons the fastest wins a water bottle. The dramatic battle music made the game more fun, but of course got me pressured! I learned I was no hidden Hawkeye, or hunter in my past life, but with such a fun experience that was over before I knew it, I would totally do archery at Gotham again! read more

Maybe Hawkeye is the best Avenger....? I took my nephew to the Manhattan location, and we had an incredibly fun experience. The instructors have their personable spiel down to a science, and are so clear and direct that you feel safe in their hands--even though you're technically holding a weapon. They have an almost mystical ability to correct your form as you prepare to shoot and help you to yield bullseyes. Better still, between rounds, they share those form corrections with the whole group so everyone benefits. It's a great activity for friends and family that I highly recommend. Been here several times for classes and each visit has been great. This is a way bigger and nicer facility than the one in Manhattan. You need to do the introduction class before doing any lane rentals or the intermediate courses. The classes, in my experience, have generally been on the smaller side with 3-5 attendees. The instructors will coach and adjust you on your form and how you shoot, during the class. I've become a better archer thanks to Gotham Archery. I want to sign up for their archery league, so I'll be looking forward to that. read more
