This was a date night plan that turned out really great. We took the beginner's class, which is a requirement before you actually rent a lane. Our instructor, Martin, was funny, informative, and insightful. I learned more about archery in those first 15 minutes than I had in my entire life. He was very directive about what was important to employ in terms of technique, things to look out for (like when retrieving your arrow or if you happen to drop one, and your quill could accidentally become a hazard), and where to keep focus. I think my target speaks volumes for how well they make sure you understand what you're doing. I only wish that I could have taken more pictures and video, but it wasn't clear whether or not we could, and I didn't want to introduce a potential hazard (to them or myself). Great experience. Would love to go back!

I had my 40th birthday party at Gotham Archery after being inspired by the Olympics and it was THE BEST! They decorated the space with balloons and confetti, which was a nice touch :) We had two instructors because of the size of our group and they were both AWESOME. They were really patient and helped everyone learn the basics and even improve throughout the course of the 2 hours. After the instruction, they turned on the blacklights and we got competitive and played a few games. Overall, such a great experience; 10 out of 10 would recommend; 5 stars; no notes! Can't wait to go back for a lane rental (this counts as an intro class!).

Took my dad here for father's day. We did an intro class and had such a good time! A tucked away, hidden gem with friendly and informative staff who really know how to engage people.

Really fun date night activity. The intro class is 1 hour long and is organized very well. They take safety very seriously without compromising on the fun parts of archery. Special shout-out to our entertaining and energy-filled instructor Wave (she also started playing Telugu music on her playlist which was a neat surprise - IYKYK).

Did a surprise date here for an introductory class and it was one of the most fun things I've done this year! You'd think an hour wouldn't be enough to get some shooting done, but our instructor, Russell, was stellar. He hit home all of the important safety bits with lots of well timed humor, a great playlist, and great tips! We all left better archers than when we arrived! It was also nice to see how much the employees enjoyed being around each other. We had a few drop ins and everyone was so helpful and funny, it was a really fun evening. The rental prices for the lanes and the equipment are super reasonable as well and Russell informed us that they are a pro shop, so don't buy anything off of Amazon. Great place for a first timer, someone dusting off the old quiver, or professional archers with great facilities and a wonderful staff.

    Super Fun and professionally taught!

I cannot express how much fun this introductory class was! I'm having a blast and cannot wait to shoot more arrows down the lane! It's surprisingly easy and I'm shocked I didn't get into it sooner!!! Aghhhhh!!!

Clean. Employees are kind. Extremely fun activity. Took my boyfriend here and he now wants to pick it up as a hobby.

What a fun date! The staff here are super nice, helpful, and serious about archery. This was my first time but I definitely felt successful. I was stoked as I LOVE the Hunger Games trilogy and honestly felt like Katness. Go solo, go for a date, go with family/friends. It's a fun activity either way. I see they've now opened one in Manhattan... Go, enjoyyyy!

Intro class with Jackie ! It was awesome

Hidden Gems Archery...you have not failed this Yelper…read more I know 3 stars looks bad, but it's not. I just wanted to set the record straight because I have had business owners in the past message me all upset and whatnot. If you've never taken archery lessons before, swing through...this place was A-OK. I thought I was going to have to add the listing to Yelp, but someone did 9 hours prior...small world. And they also used a Groupon. I was originally going to go to the Staten Island based Groupon archery offering since it was 1/2 as much, but since I would have had to pay the toll to get to S.I, I figured it evened out. For 30 minutes, me and the one other guy taking the intro course learned about the methods and safety of archery. And then we put arrows into things for a little under an hour. We got about 4 rounds in I believe and were alternating on the 4 target course (narrow room on the second floor of some building) with a family of 4 who were obviously members and obviously practiced...they were on some Katniss and Legolas type ish. I feel confident picking up a bow and arrow now. Learned a lot from Q and Tyler. Q provided the archery lecture and it felt like a James Bond movie...you know when Q explains the gadgets to Bond. Except our Q was a woman. With a 99.9% safety rating. Ask her where that .1% went. I went to the 12 PM lesson on a weekday and I think the preceding lessons were packed or so I overheard. So I'm glad I chose the first lesson. It's why I chose the first lesson. Next up, fencing! And then ninjitsu.

Overall, it was a cool experience. We were buddied up and I paired with my friend, who immediately pigeonholed himself as troublemaker/class clown. He got some special attention from the staff and I received a couple of demerits for not following instructions (I'm oblivious, not insubordinate). Yes, friends, I had two of my arrows removed from my quiver at one point, but I couldn't really blame them as I had ample warning. Once I earned my way back into good standing, the arrows were returned. Shooting was fun and pretty straightforward after a few tries. My only criticism is that they should spend a little less time on the prep and let us loose sooner with the bows (time flies pretty quickly when you're shooting arrows). But I get why they over-prepare with the safety lessons.

Awesome staff, fun activity, great spot. If it's your first time, you get to do a super-fun introductory class (that's accessible to everyone of all ages and levels of athleticism - including "basically none") that teaches you the basics while also keeping it really entertaining with mini-competitions and such. Definitely a great group activity to try out with friends / family. After doing the intro lesson, you're free to sign up any time afterwards for your own private lane to practice in for 1-2 hours or so (bumping you up from a 5-yard distance from your target to a 10-yard one) - and the staff will keep checking in on you and giving you pointers and suggestions to improve your game. Speaking of which, they're all super friendly and knowledgeable - Nas, Ace, Simon and the rest, all great guys with lots of patience and sunny dispositions. It's roughly $35 for 1 hour of use of the space and to rent out a bow and some arrows (and the extra coaching is free) - a very reasonable deal in NYC. My wife and I have been coming back at least twice a month since the Winter and we've had a blast every visit. Super fun to watch yourself progress and get more and more accurate too. And as an added bonus, it's smack dab in the middle of Chinatown - tons of great spots to eat at around here, after an hour of archery. Would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting or living here.

Our lesson just had around 4 people total to begin with, and then 2 joined later, which seemed decent (since you have to wait until the last person clears shooting before we all grab our arrows again). After you're finished, you have the option to take your target sheet with you if you'd like a small momento! It was such a fun experience for me personally and a great date night place.
