Erica rocks all the way around. She was so helpful when the camp i volunteered with needed a location change, stat. She accommodated us as best as she could and I feel it ran smoothly! Our campers had an amazing experience, so did the counselors, and admins. The activities spaces were in abundance, av and tech were available, firepits and fields were fresh and clean. The horses were a lovely added activity. LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE AMAZING KITCHEN STAFF. I can't remember all the names but thank you to Jen, Ross, Nelly, and young gentleman who works the afternoon/ evenings and everyone behind the scenes. You all made wonderful camp meals! My daughter loves this camp!! And we drop her off, it's always a great vibe there. The counsellors are super attentive and caring. They really make you feel welcomed! The child's safety is taken seriously and the check in process covers important things like dietary restrictions, medications, etc. The cabins are super cute and clean. The bathrooms are kept tidy as well. They do a ton of activities each week so the kids are never bored. Can't wait for many more summers of fun! read more

I have so many great memories as a kid at Sky-Y and can't wait til my own daughter is old enough to attend! In fact, I loved it so much I worked as a camp counselor there as soon as I was old enough. If you're looking for a good introduction to the outdoors then this camp is a great place to start. It's not fancy by any means, but that's the whole point of summer camp! Kids stay in 10-12 person cabins with a communal bathroom/shower area and there is a separate girls and boys village. There is a campfire ring in the middle of each village for evening get togethers and sing alongs. They have theme weeks, swimming, riflery, archery, arts and crafts, hiking, weekly dances, floor hockey, and tons of other daily classes depending on what's offerred. I'm sure things have changed some in the 10+ years since I worked there, but nonetheless this place holds a special place in my heart. read more

BEWARE! I packed my just barely 7year old daughter off for her first overnight camp to Sky Y and as any mother would be I was nervous but excited for her. She was initially scheduled to do their "mini camp" which is 3 nights (Sunday-Wednesday.) On Tuesday I received a call from a counselor letting me know that she wanted to stay the full week. I expressed concern that I had only packed enough clothes for her to stay 3 nights. I was told that that was no problem, they would wash her clothes for her (wow awesome!) So even though it wrenched my heart I agreed to let her stay and pay the extra $. The following Saturday we went and picked her up. The first thing I noticed was that she was FILTHY and that she REEKED! *No one had taken her clothes to wash them as I was assured they would! * She was not ALLOWED to shower for 5 days (since the previous Monday) yes she asked to shower and was told NO...completely unacceptable!!! * She had been wearing tennis shoes with no socks for 4 days since hers were covered in mud and no one had washed them. Her poor feet were covered in blisters from this with no band aids! Her feet smelled so bad we had to stop at a gas station to wash her feet and throw her shoes in the trash. I contacted the camp and was directed to Jessie Thomas who I was told is the camp director. I expressed my above concerns and was not offered ANY apologies or reasons why these things happened! Only that "nothing was noted at cabin check." She said she would speak with her counselor and get back to me. Well it has been 2 weeks and no one has called me back. This camp is a joke, I know that what my daughter experienced was not an isolated incident as she attended with a friend who had the same problems.. all they care about is getting your credit card number. read more

We love this place. My family and I go to Camp Sky Y every year for their "Family Camp." This year was our 4th year in a row and it was nothing short of amazing. The staff are incredible. Their attitudes and availability to all of the campers really set them above the rest. The amount of activities that are available are awesome. We will definitely be back. I dropped my daughter off last weekend and this was her first experience away from home. She was very nervous and I continued to reassure her that she would have fun. Well I was wrong. She was so home sick that she didn't eat for almost 4 days...4 DAYS! And she was told by more then one counselor that if she didn't eat or drink, it would get them in trouble! How dare they make my daughter feel like it's her fault. They said they were trained in dealing with kids who were homesick but if a child is not eating or drinking I feel like someone should have called me just to give me a heads up. I understand that they didn't want her to call me, but it would have been very easy for a counselor to pick up the phone and let me know what was going on so I could make the decision on what to do for my own child. I was late picking her up on saturday, I called and left a message when I knew I was going to be late. Then I called 30 mins later just to make sure they got my message. I spoke with Dan or Dave (I'm horrible with names), and he told me not to worry and that my daughter was doing doing fine. When I got there, no one was in the office, no one asked me who I was, no one had me sign her out...nothing! I could of taken anyone home with me and no one would have said anything. And on top of that, no one told my daughter that I was running late - so on top of her having the worst week of her life, she thought I forgot about her. I'm so disappointed in this camp experience and I WILL NOT send my daughter back (not that she wants to go back). I wasn't going to write a review because I am only hearing my daughters version of what happened and I know there are always two sides to a story...but she just woke up CRYING, saying she had a dream that I dropped her off at camp again. She's 11, having nightmares about just being dropped off at camp. I'm so sad for my daughter - who is normally very outgoing, talkative, and friendly....this one week at camp has changed her and I just hope she returns to her cheery self soon. read more

We took a group of 5th graders last week. The camp is fun for the most part. Cabins are big, bathrooms are relatively clean and there were lots of things for the kids to do. Unfortunately, there was not enough food and it was barely nutritional. For example, the only veggies served were iceberg lettuce (which they ran out of every day) and one day they served canned corn. The only fruit offered was grapes at breakfast. One day they served tiny little muffins for breakfast. Each person got 1 muffin. When we went back for seconds, they gave us 6 tiny muffins for 12 people. My kids were starving! The counselor who seemed to be in charge (Jess) was awful to the children. Very short tempered and rude. For example (and I could give many) our kids got up to throw some trash away. She yelled (yes, YELLED) at them to go sit back down. "YOU WERE NOT TOLD TO GET UP!" Well, they weren't told not to get up either. There wasn't much instruction until someone did something the wrong way and then they would get yelled at. How about appreciating that our kids didn't leave the trash or throw it on the ground. Next time a simple, "I appreciate you taking care of your trash, but I need you to take a seat right now and we will give you further instructions for what to do with your trash." Also, the camp indicated that it was ADA compliant. IT IS NOT! In the end, the kids had a good time and want to go back. I, on the other hand, am glad the next time my husband will be the one to go. read more

We take our 5th grade students as a yearly field trip and this year, by far, has been our best year yet!! The kids love the way the camp looks and once they see the sign we enjoy watching their eyes fill with excitement! We were greeted by the staff and the kids were immediately hooked by their fun spirits and personalities. The buildings are old and built in the middle of the National Forest so it is expected to be a bit rustic but that adds to the real-life camping experience. The kids couldn't wait to explore the cabins! While exploring we noticed there were renovations and remodels happening around camp, we can't wait to see the upgrades! That entire day and the next were full of amazing activities led by their camp director and staff, as well as a couple we led. The kids couldn't stop laughing nor did they want their activity hour to end. In between activities and events they would flock to the GaGa Pit! At the end of the day we were happily greeted by our pillows and slept heavy at night! Parents were happy about the quality of the meals as well as how much food was offered to kids. I personally feel that the staff really made the experience more fun and better than it has been in years past! Jess made personal relationships with kids and made them feel so special! Both Dillans and Jace had kids laughing the entire time and just added to the experience! The best part of the trip was having the Sky-Y staff jump into the GaGa Pit with the kids and played with them! It was so refreshing watching them interact with the kids and not just be a presence! read more

I have been going to this camp two weeks a summer and for the camp they hold for four days in the winter for the past seven years of my life, I have gone from the youngest boys village to the oldest boys and I have seen it all. This camp has so much to offer for all of the kids that attend it. The councilors are super attentive to the campers and love their jobs, also I have got to know some of the staff and they are the nicest humans you will ever meet. The camp is very safe for those of you wondering. for example, whenever a camper needs to do something like go to another section of camp they have to take a buddy so that if something happens, someone knows. If you are worried about your child getting lost in the woods, don't fret, a few years back a 14 year old boy ran away from the camp and camp councilors found him two hours later miles away from the camp. As you can see though there are a few negative reviews on this page. They are from parents who's children had bad experiences. The only reasons that their children did not have good experiences is because they did not prepare well enough. You walk a lot at this camp and the only people I have ever seen get blisters during their stay were kids who wore super thick socks and climbing boots the whole time. Also, of course the camp is a going to be a little dirty,it is in the middle of the woods. But still it is very clean, at the end of every camp week the entire camp is deep cleaned and at the end of the summer they do an even deeper clean once the camp is left. I hope you take this camp into consideration and ignore all of the negative reviews read more

Eeek!!!!! First of all this Camp Sky Y needs to be inspected by the health inspectors. Went on a School field trip on the week of April 19th 2017 as a chaperone this place was filthy. There was mouse poop everywhere even under the bed mats and the cabin had bed bugs. After we had gave the camp director proof that it was in multiple beds in the cabin they had went to switch the evidence when the exterminator had came to spray replacing the bugs with carpet beetles. This camp really needs to be shut down by health inspectors so they can actually clean out each cabin. read more

My two teenagers just returned from a weekend camp at this facility. It was not run by the Y so the facility is what I am reviewing. The camp is appealing upon arrival. Rustic and secluded in the woods with lots of places for kids to have fun (amphitheater, pool, basketball court etc) and lots of room to run. Upon entering the main lodge the first thing I noticed was the dirt. The place hasn't had a deep clean in a long time...think decades. The bathroom I used was GROSS and my daughter told me it was 10 times better than the one the campers used. My usually well groomed and clean teens were oily and unshowered, they refused to use the showers at the camp (Fri night to Sun morning) because they were filthy. The bunks were gross and had food wrappers under the mattresses etc. If there isn't a health code violation (or 10) in every building on that camp I would be surprised. If your youth group, church, Scouts etc are looking for a facility, keep looking. Unless there is a power washer in your "prep for camp" kit I wouldn't recommend this place at all. read more
