If you asked for my review after my first visit to Victorian Bridal Salon (when I bought my wedding…read moredress) I would have given them 5 stars. But based on my experiences since, I could never recommend them. First, my bridesmaids dresses didn't come in until one week before my wedding. When we went to buy the dresses in January, Michele said we didn't have time to wait but they would definitely be in on time. Not necessarily Michele's fault that they took so long, but it left a sour taste in my mouth when I called to check on them and she said "well they can take 4 months." I never would have bought my dresses there if she had told me that initially. The dresses finally came in and my girls went to the salon ASAP for their fitting. Michele essentially got them all done in time. Three days before my wedding I have an appointment to put my dress on so Michele can show my girls how to do the bustle and to take my dress home. Before we start, my one bridesmaid puts her dress on again because it was ready. Michele stood in the room while she put the dress on. After she has it on for a few minutes we notice there is a stain on the dress right over her chest. We point it out to Michele and she says "it wasn't there before, something must have happened." Well no, nothing happened. We are all standing here watching her put the dress on and she's not eating or drinking anything. Instead of just owning up to it and going to fix it, Michele says her hair must be wet, which it was not. So then I put my dress on which wasn't even done. The bustle wasn't even done yet so Michele just showed them where everything for the bustle will be. I was supposed to bring the dress home with me that day as my wedding was out of town, but Michele "just didn't get to it." Not a huge deal, my mom luckily can go back the following afternoon and pick it up. So I pay my almost $200 in alterations (mostly for the bustle which isn't even done yet) and my mom gets the dress the next day. We hang and transport the dress exactly as Michele told us to do. When we get to the hotel the afternoon before the wedding we take the plastic off the dress and fluff out the train just as Michele told us to do. Immediately my eyes go to one the appliqués that is now totally bunched up and pinched. It is so obvious and ugly. My mom called Michele and yet again she blamed it on and us and "wondered what could have happened because it wasn't like that on Tuesday." She had absolutely no solution to help us besides for her to walk us through what to do. No, I'm not taking a needle and thread to my wedding dress the night before I get married. So instead my mom and I had to pack up the dress and trudge through a storm to a seamstress that we were very lucky to find. The seamstress looks at it and it turns out the appliqué that is messed up is where one of the loops for the bustle is. So no, it didn't look like that on Tuesday because Michele hadn't done the bustle yet like she was supposed to. Luckily it all worked out and the seamstress was able to get it done, but I had to miss my nail appointment and part of my rehearsal because of the dress situation. Michele never called to check in and make sure our problem was resolved. I have no idea how she could miss that she ruined an appliqué when that was the exact spot she worked on the dress. Mistakes happen, but I could never support a business that chooses to blame the customer instead of owning up to their mistakes. In the end, I paid almost $200 in alterations before my dress was even done, just for Michele to screw up the alterations and leave me hanging 24 hours before I get married.

I had just landed an "executive to the head partner" type position. Coming from a previous jeans position, I needed to buy a new wardrobe suited to my new career. Unfortunately I was between sizes so needed to have everything tailored. When I walked in, I was greeted by his wife who directed me to a dressing room and had me put my first outfit on. I was surprised when she returned instead of Luigi himself. She proceeded to pinch together and pin from one side of the garment and did the same with each piece of clothing. I thought it seemed odd but assumed the great Luigi maybe divided those measurements in half to take equal amounts in on each side. When I picked up my clothes, I was charged a hefty sum of money before handing me several garment bags of my clothes. I was not given the opportunity to try anything on but instead was pointed to the door. When I got home and tried everything on, every single piece was off centered and unwareable. When I complained to Mr Luigi about it, he was very nasty and refused to even reimburse me for his fee. He (rather his wife) ruined hundreds of dollars worth of clothes and charged hundreds for the tailoring. Just because he is a tailor doesn't make his wife one. She had no business doing a job she obviously had no skill in doing. I had decided to take him to small claims court but my father became I'll and passed away causing many more important things for me to take care of so I never did pursue it. I just can't believe someone would do this. She is no tailor and had no business doing her husband's job!

I am very glad that I did. They did a fantastic job and were very friendly. I used to take my jeans to a seamstress at Sak's in the city who would take about 2 weeks to hem one pair of jeans. At Luigi's they were done the next day! They did not keep the original hem; however, you cannot tell the difference. They matched the thread colors perfectly.

DO NOT use Barbara Wells as a seamstress! i went to her to make some alterations on my wedding…read moregown. she had it for about five months. the main thing i needed was for it to be shortened because it was too long and there were few other alterations i needed. she accidentally made small holes in it, barely shortened it, replaced the zipper without asking, and did a poor job sewing buttons back on lining the zipper. she had my gown much longer than said at first to the point i needed to pay extra at the dry cleaners to have it rushed and still almost did not have it for my wedding day. my gown was so long i literally tripped walking down the isle more than once. worst of all she did not properly install the zipper so as i left my hotel room to go to the ceremony the zipper completely bust open and i was an hour late because i needed a seamstress at the hotel to sew me into my gown so i was not exposed. the very last straw of my encounter with Barbara was she lied about the hours she worked on my gown. we agreed to pay her an hourly fee and at our last visit i counted the hours she had tracked on my dress assuming there may be an extra hour or two on the bill, but once i received the bill she had doubled the hours charging us almost $750! when i questioned the large amount of hours she refused to return my gown! after the wedding myself and my mother reached out to Barbara to express our frustration in a professional manner two separate times and never got any response back. please save yourself the stress and hassle and never go to Barbara Wells at Classic Stitch Fine Sewing!

The lady who worked here when i needed a suit dry cleaned was very nice, but they only do dry…read morecleaning on certain days of the week, and this was a rush job (last minute courthouse wedding!) I mostly have issues with the coin op laundry. My washer died, and i thought i would get a weeks worth of laundry done in 2 hours, so i popped in here. They have high efficiency washers, and i noticed the cleaning lady closing and latching all of them, which i thought was maybe because she was going to do the floors or something and wanted the doors closed. Nope. When i got home, i noticed that all my clothes smelled really bad. This leads me to believe that they always keep all the washers closed because they grow mold if they don't get a chance to dry out. Ultimately, I ended up spending a whole day at my parents' house rewashing everything. It was nice to hang out with them, but a huge waste of time and money to go to the laundromat first. Not related to the washing, but they used to have vending machines for drinks and snacks, which were gone, and the soap vending machines were not working. That may have changed since my visit.
