Canadian Tire - Department Stores Near Me - Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta

There used to be a small Canadian Tire located in downtown Fort Saskatchewan within a dying mall. That one closed when this larger and nicer version opened up. It's also conveniently located and right next to Mark's Work Warehouse (its sister store). I usually stop for supplemental seasonal clothing or just shop for ideas that I can apply around my home when I return. The weekly sales flyer is my starting point and after calculating the exchange rate in my head, I have found some real bargains here. This kind of shopping of course is limited to what I can stuff in my suitcase, including the weight limit. And if I pay in cash, I take my Canadian Tire money and immediately donate it back. read more

Hard to describe Auto Service at Fort Saskatchewan store in one word. Incompetent, arrogant and ignorant all seem to fit my recent experience with them. I took our vehicle in for a simple tire swap from winter to summer tires, both on rims on a Tuesday. The tires were definitely swapped, but the "Service Tire Monitor System" (TPMS) message came on solid after a short drive. I called the store as it seemed likely they forgot to reset the sensors to the summer tires. I was informed sometimes they do and sometimes don't. I found it ridiculous as it's always done before (elsewhere) whenever we had tires swapped. I asked if they would do it if I brought the vehicle in, but they informed me I would be charged their shop rate of $140 an hour, and the soonest they could do it would be the following Monday as they were "too busy." This was on Wednesday. I noted to their Lack of Customer Service Rep the Canadian Tire "guarantee" on the invoice stated I could drop the vehicle off to get the tires retorqued as per their recommendation within 50-100 km after service free of charge. He said I could get the retorque done, but would still need to book a separate appointment to the TPMS done. I told him it was ridiculous they couldn't check this at the same time but he said take it or leave it. I chose to leave it. I called two other Canadian Tire branches to ask about their policy and they both said checking TPMS function was part of their standard service. The Manager at Sherwood Park Emerald Hills found the story quite bizarre and offered to have their technician take a look. The technician found everything in order (nothing damaged) and just used the "re-learn tool" to pair the sensors again. Total time spent was 5 minutes, and no charge for the service. I will definitely go back to Emerald Hills in future, and steer clear from the Fort Saskatchewan branch. If you decide to go there, make sure you know what's going to be included in your service. if they can screw up a tire swap and won't stand behind their workmanship, I can't imagine what they could do to something more technical. read more

I live in the area and have shopped at this place many times and if there were such a thing as the worst Canadian Tire contest, I would enter this location. One reason is returning items can make you very angry. Another is the lines at the cash registers. The list goes on. As I said I live in the area, but shop at the new Canadian Tire location on the east side of Edmonton. It's a breath of fresh air compared to this place and their hours are much better. This is by far the store I enjoy going to the least in Fort Saskatchewan. Their customer service is appalling and they rarely have what the fliers say they have. And good luck trying to find some things! I was looking for a new lawn mower bag and asked staff to help me locate it. They pointed in the general direction and wouldn't walk me there after me asking them to. Went out to the garden centre and asked the person there and they showed me the MINI SAMPLE VERSION and said "this must be the last one we have". I asked if she could check in the back or something and she said "no, what we have out is all we have". She didn't let me know she could check online or at another store etc. I have too many stories to write down, that's just the one I picked. There's been bikes I've tried to buy and I guess the person that comes in to assemble them only comes out... never?! (Still waiting for a call...) and I was given a rain check for the sale price of the bike only to discover there was likely zero chance I'd ever receive that specific bike. What?? read more

The staff can be super nice and underfoot all the time or it can be a ghost town. This outfit has the switch and bait routine down to a science. The flyer's will show all kinds of fantastic deals, right up until you get there. They will stock 6 of something and it will be gone by Friday night. (the sales start Thursday.) Also, you can't buy it Wednesday night at the Thursday price. I tried. I failed. Then, the infamous disclaimer, 'Sorry. No rain checks.' comes into play. I don't think they are sorry at all. I often wonder if it was managed better, how much busier it would be there. read more

I took my car here and when I got it back the wheel was stiffer than it was when I brought it there to be fixed. I had to get it towed to my house & I fixed the rest of it myself. I had to pay still. read more

My advice: spend the extra 15 minutes to drive to Fort Road or the Park. Typically the store is a ghost town but they only have one cashier working at the returns desk also doing returns so expect a line up even with 5 vehicles in the parking lot. On multiple occasions I have gone looking for a sale item that is shown as "2 IN STOCK - Aisle 2" that is not in Aisle 2 and it takes 5 minutes to find a staff member then another 15 minutes to find the item squirrelled away somewhere else. Yesterday was the exact same issue, went to buy a item that was on sale and in stock but surprise, surprise was not where it was supposed to be. I am past the point of wasting my time, the Sherwood Park store showed 3 of the items I was after and when I arrived there were 3 on the shelf. read more

Had some vehicle work done here in the past, it was done poorly and they refused to admit it. Fortunately the Canadian Tire on Fort Road in Edmonton stepped up to the plate and let Canadian Tire's corporate office know the work was shoddy and fixed it for us. read more

They need to work on better customer service or to train their employees on more tasks. I went to Canadian tire the other day to make an exchange on an item that was broken when I purchased it. I arrived to the store. Picked out a new item to exchange the old one with and waited in line at customer service only for the girl to tell me that the girl who does returns and exchanges is on lunch and won't be back for 15 minutes. Which I didn't mind, so I browsed through the store and waited for 15 minutes to be up. When I returned to customer service the girl wasn't back yet. So I stood near the line and waited for her to return. I stood by the line for another 15 minutes. By then I was getting a little upset. If your going to have a customer service you would think canadian tire would have more then one person who knows how to do returns and exchanges. Or maybe monitor the employees break so they are back in time to help customers. read more

I shop at Canadian tire a lot this one happens to be closer to my home but unfortunately the staff need better customer service skills. The last time I shopped here I was made to feel very stupid by a member of the staff. I ordered new winter tires on steel rims to be delivered and installed 7 days later. Dropped car of but when I went to pick it up tires are on summer rims and was charged but not delivered for winter rims. Have to come back to talk to manager as guy that screwed up can't change things? Also did wheel alignment which I did not ask for. When this gets settled I will not give this store another dime. read more
