i went there to return a welding set, they refused to do it saying that there is nothing wrong with it so we cant return it. i told them its not the right one, she said get the right one and l search before you buy something. i told them that this is what the sales person suggested and she did not listen to anything. the manager was EXTREMELY RUDE not just to us but also to the staff she was training. my brother came from USA and it was his first visit there and he was so shocked to see the bad customer service they provided. I wanted to buy winter boots and didn't want to sell my soul to the devil by using Amazon, or some other foreign company, so I looked at Canadian Tire's website, and found the boots that I wanted, but they were out of stock. They had the boots at 3 other stores, but when I called to ask them to bring them in for me, I was told that I would have to pay for shipping (that would cost probably as much as the boots themselves). I don't care if they are franchises; work something out, or use a common warehouse to get people the things that you say you carry, because telling me that you are going to gouge me because you can't keep up with your own inventory is a stupid way to run a business. Sad, but true; Amazon will give me free shipping. Seriously not impressed. read more

Terrible customer service. Many items are behind lock and key, and no employees in sight to assist. Checkout line is always long. Minimum 30 minute wait time. Poor inventory on basic things you would hope you could rely on them to have, like power sport 2-stroke oil. Consistently rude/grumpy staff at the customer service counter. When you can finally track down a Where's Waldo employee, they are absolutely of no assistance anyway. This franchise is going downhill quick and should be avoided at all costs. read more

Worst service by far!!! We had a break down on our trip 2 hours away from PG with 3 kids and dogs in the car, stranded on the hwy, we made it to the store with the help of nice people. But when arriving here, despite that we called first thing in the morning that we are coming on a Sunday and all other tire shops closed, 3 girls with limited knowledge and non existing manners, didn't show any compassion in trying to help. First they said we didn't call (which was a lie) and after some pressure they admitted it. Leaving us gasping for words, telling us to buy the most expensive tires and do it ourselves. The so called "manager" a small black haired girl was hiding behind her co workers and didn't even come close to talk to me- no leadership skills at all. There were 4 females standing there doing nothing but telling us they can't help. If that business is not driving I can name 4 "reasons" why. How sad! The store itself is fine. Selection is good. But find anyone knowledgeable on products to help is a task. Even jusf finding someone who can unlock the tools I wanted to touch was difficult. I did eventually buy some tools there but not thanks to staff. Even more frustrating is finding an employee who knows details on their riding lawn tractors. Repeated horrible experiences at the Hunting counter with the female employee who I suspect to be the department manager. To pick the most impactful experiences, one was approximately a year ago. I approached the counter and asked for a moment of time and that I am new to firearms and am only looking for information today, already seeming annoyed at my request I proceeded to ask about entry level firearm hunting, hiking bear defense, and if a 12gage would be a suitable option. I point out a gun similar to what I've seen others carry on trails and ask the price. She notifies me that I cannot handle any guns until I can show her a PAL license. I say "that's no issue as I am only looking for information today". I asked for the price again and told me "it's on the tag" then crossed her arms and positioned herself between me and the section of Defender guns I showed interest in. Standing aggressively, she now blocks my view of the Defender selection. Feeling discouraged and put off with such a rude dismissal of an admittedly new firearms hunter, and the appearance as if she was "guarding" the Defender selection from me. Realizing I would not be getting any usable information on pricing or firearm suggestions from this interaction I moved onto a different subject, in the hope to get any information that would benefit me. I asked about what type of shells would be suitable for bear defense and how much they cost per round. I did my best to describe the shells and shot in question but I am interrupted mid-sentence and told. "if you don't even know the name of bullets or shells you shouldn't even be here or even be considering hunting". I was a bit shook by this response and reminded her "I currently bow hunt but haven't done the PAL course yet as I am still trying to decide if it's worth it for myself to get into firearms". She told me to come back once I could show her a PAL license and refused to share any more information about firearms. I left very frustrated with how rudely I was treated and was so quickly dismissed because I couldn't provide my PAL when it was only information I was seeking. Everything I wanted to know could have been completed with a 5-minute friendly conversation. I chalked up that experience to a bad interaction and never left a complaint, but the other day I entered the store (Now having completed my PAL) and stood at the counter looking at the same selection of Defender shotguns. I was never approached to see if I could have been helped but I did notice the same Female worker and another employee standing at the other end of the counter talking quite loudly. While waiting for service I hear the other employee comment on how well (I suspect young hire from the tone of their voice) did stocking the ammo merchandise, to which the female employee who helped me last time comments "I fu**ing hate that kid..." and proceeds to go on about how she dislikes that young employee and the trouble he has caused her and wished he was no longer a part of her team. The tone she used made me believe she was management and I was disgusted by how shamelessly she would bad mouth and tear down employees who work directly under her with other members of her team in such clear earshot of customers. I had to immediately turn around and leave the counter and store as I was so irate at her lack of professionalism and workplace respect. Her treatment of customers and fellow team members is horrendous and being that this stems from someone in a position of power should make this even worst. I questioned others in my personal circle who are involved with hunting and archery and a vast majority has recounted negative experiences with this individual. read more

I recently visited your Prince George location where I made a large purchase that came to a total of $494.28. I had a couple gift cards to your store, so I decided to use them. The total amount of the gift cards was $175.00. The remaining amount of the purchase $319.28 was paid for on my debit card. After taking the items home I decided that the Tv stand purchased was not going to work in my home, so I decided to return it (unopened and in its original packaging). When I came back a week later to refund the Tv stand I was informed that the refund would not be put back on to my debit card but rather onto a gift card even though the original amount paid in cash ($319.28) exceeded the cost of the refund ($223.99). We asked to talk to the manager so the employee made a phone call. The manager never came over to help us or address the issue. They informed the employee that we would have to accept the gift card or they would not do the refund. My girlfriend sent a message to the Canadian Tire Corporate Customer Relations and was advised that: "because the purchase was made using a split payment (gift card/debit) it's at the store discretion on how they would like to process the refund" read more
