Ordered a Shimano Saragosa reel from Canal Bait and Tackle through Amazon and it did not work properly. Returned item within return window for refund via UPS (had to pay as they did not give free return shipping). UPS tracking shows it was received at the front desk but I have heard nothing from the company. Contacted Amazon customer service twice now and both times they sent CB&T a message, again no response. 10 days out since last message was sent with no response yet. Still waiting for my refund which is no small amount. Poor customer service with no communication. read more

After leaving his shop (and leaving several hundred dollars of stuff I was going to purchase), I went to another bait shop a few miles away. The worst fishing tackle company I've ever dealt with. Purchased a jigging lure from them. Waited almost a week to get it and it arrived scratched up. So I requested a replacement. Within hours USPS picked up the scratched up lure I sent back to them these people cancelled my replacement! And due to "technical issues??" They have them all over Ebay and 40 in stock on their website. Very bitter company that will retaliate against you if you don't accept their defective scratched up lures they ship to you. I'm only giving 2 stars because they do have great fishing products in store. The main problem with this store is the price. Everything is way too expensive and you won't find a single thing sold at market prices. The other problem I found here was the live bait. Everything was frozen, nothing fresh and way too expensive. The bags they sell are 6 bucks and everything is frozen. I purchased 2 fresh mackerel for 3 bucks in other stores while here I would have to pay the double for worthless frozen bait. Clams come in very small quantities, they are frozen and again 6 dollars. read more

I ordered a custom rod at the end of September 2010. It arrived in late October and was exactly what I expected. I was able to catch a few nice sized striped bass with it at the end of the fall run. This is a family business and the staff is great. Good selection of lures that seems to be expanding each month. Hours are the best around opening sometimes at 4am during the fishing season so if you need bait or gear before a trip they will likely be open. Parking is pretty good and there's enough room to turn a boat around. Prices are mediocre but convenience trumps that. read more

Best Bait shop on the Cape! I'm only on Cape for the summer and I wish there was a place like this down in SC. They care about their customers and take the time to explain their products.
