Canal Lounge is one of my favorite spot in the summer. Today, I got lucky to sit on the terrace in front of the boat with my boyfriend. It was an awesome experience. The service was slow though but our waitress was very sweet and friendly. It was her first day at work. We had few cocktails from Bloody Caesar, La Bouée, White Wine Sangria and Malibu Sea breeze; we also had grape tomatoes & bocconcini marinated with pesto, and vine leaves. Everything was beautifully presented, and it was very succulent. The lounge is a boat; inside beautifully set up with a simple and elegant decors. The view is your canal lachine by Atwater Market. This is a great little bar along the canal with beer, wine and cocktails. The bar is located on a boat, and is mostly indoors but has a few seats on the deck available. We just got drinks but there was a good selection of cheese and olive-type plates for purchase. I recommend the raspberry cocktail which is well balanced and not too sweat. Great place to have a drink and hangout with friends. The little boat is a little bit hidden by the canal next to the Attwater market and is really peaceful. Since this place does not take reservations, so be sure to come early if you are not feeling like waiting in line. The drinks are really good and the view is amazing~ Perfect for a sunny summer evening. Although since its an old boat there aren't any AC so it gets really hot inside. This boat bar was a treat. We went when the sun was shining near the end of the afternoon and it could not be more perfect. They serve you wonderful aperol spritz with a little champagne bottle on the side. Somehow this made us feel special while pouring the alcohol into our oversized glasses. The exterior and interior is so very Instagram worthy. If I were more of an insta babe I probably would have been taking pics all over this spot. If you are one to take pics you won't feel shamed when doing so cuz literally everyone in the bar was asking the waitresses to take pics of them and their friends. A friend of mine took me here for a drink one night... What a wonderful concept, a boat bar on the canal, the atmosphere is very mellow and relaxed. The drinks are cheap, the owner is too nice and serves you with a smile. This is the perfect place for a drink after dinner, it looks like a refurbished bateau-mouche that they use in the old port. The top of the boat is windowed so a lot of light comes in. My reviews are usually only about food and not service. This is officially my favorite place to grab a drink at in Montreal! The floating lounge is situated on a boat that is docked right behind the Atwater Market and is literally the cutest place I've been to in a LONG time. A friend and I stopped by on a Wednesday evening around 8pm and waited for about 10 minutes before a table became available. Once seated, we quickly ordered cocktails and a sharing platter of some dips, charcuterie, and cheese (basically the only filling food on the menu). Everything came out quickly, was super delicious, and the entire experience was very pleasant. After about an hour and a half, our hostess invited us to sit outside at the front of the boat where the 2 seats had just become free - we were over the moon and quickly accepted her offer (FYI, all seating is indoors except for two seats at the front of the boat, and about 4 seats at the back). It was such a great experience and felt completely private. We were so impressed with the service, quality, and price, and can't wait to be back! The boat leaves the canal in October or November so make sure you check them out before then! read more

This floating cafe-bar is actually a renovated boat that docks in the Lachine Canal behind the Atwater market during the warmer months; as soon as Parks Canada opens the canal to boats and till the first sign of cold weather. I've been here on a Saturday afternoon, as well as on a Friday night, and the place is always jammed. They take no reservations so you'll definitely need to be patient if you're waiting in line. The venue has a laid back feel, and the wide windows allow you to look out into the canal; you'll notice the colourful banquets, white chairs, dark wooden tables, neon overhead lighting and the bar in the back of the boat which add to the chill vibe of this lounge. Two seating areas are also available on the back and front deck, if you're lucky to grab the spots first. I had my usual dark and stormy during my evening visit; the drinks were great and reasonably priced at an average 10$ while the house cocktails are 8$. There is no kitchen but you can order some small plates like spreads and pickles with bread, although popcorn is always graciously offered. I will definitely return to this spot albeit the wait, if not for their cocktails but for a laid back afternoon of people watching. read more

Sad to write the Canal Lounge, which used to be my favourite place to enjoy a drink in the summer, has had it's last visit from me for a long time. Apparently, it has been under new ownership for the last year and the standards have declined to the point where the once perfectly charming experience has become less than pleasant. The umbrella covering comfortable chairs on the bow seating area has been "broken" for several weeks and can't be replaced because they can't find the right size umbrella to fit the holder. Yeah, right. Service, while polite and courteous, is given without the former energy and grace which may or may not be the server's fault since, like many things, attitude flows from above. The large, once gorgeous windows are filthy and masses of dead insects rest between dirty blinds and the glass. Worst of all, the toilet, where paper must be deposited in a bin and not the commode because it is a boat, stinks to high heaven. Maybe, I don't know, change the bin more often - as it every day! The whole place lacks the polish and elegance it once had. And yes, it's a bit pricey which is worth it when the place and experience are special but this is no longer the case. Drinks are fabulous!! Ambiance is fabulous (nice soft jazz music playing and -- despite thinking it would be -- not at all hipster...actually surprised at the much older crowd for a Wednesday evening). DO NOT EXPECT TO EAT!! And therefore please do not give this place a bad rating thinking it's a restaurant...it's not. It's a cocktail lounge. Period. It has a few snacky items but that's it. DO EXPECT to drink wonderfully mixed drinks. Unfortunately do also expect your red wine to be cold. Service was very nice, don't expect speedy because they do take the time to talk to their patrons and it's a small place that fills up around 5pm and empties again around 7 (at least on Wednesday). The bathroom was incredibly adorable I absolutely loved it!! The door slides open (don't try to push or pull). The flush is actually a button on the cabinet below the sink that you hafta hold to flush...took me a minute to figure it out (despite the sign next to it) which is why I mention it. Got a chance to speak with one of the owners who was surprised to hear I learned about them on Yelp...he didn't even know what Yelp was lol!! He was happy to learn of their perfect rating here too (he told me they have a perfect rating on fb too). He also told me they want to expand with other boats all down the dock like a boardwalk type set up...so excited for that to happen!! This place is a perfect gem of a Yelp-iscovery! This business is a product of a love story: 2 KLM air stewards buy out a boat and turn it into a boat café from scratch (ask for their photo book if you don't believe me!) the drinks here are very affordable and since my first visit they have introduced a food menu (I didn't order ). I ordered their version of a dark and stormy (3/5-the ginger beer was spicy), aperol spritz (5/5) , the old fashioned (4/5-a great drink that is strong for the whiskey lovers). There is no reservations so it's first come first serve. Go before 5 pm to avoid the wait . If you are lucky you may even sit in front of the boat (absolutely breath taking view of the Lachine canal ). A must visit in my book if you haven't. This place is incredible. Tucked away at the bottom of the Atwater market, literally in the canal, this refurbished dinner boat is the first floating café/bar to grace the Montréal scene. We had the pleasure of chatting with the owner of the establishment- after discovering the abandoned vessel he took two years to renovate and transform it into a chique yet incredibly inviting bar-on-the-water. On top of sharing his story, he was welcoming and clearly just so thrilled to have the chance to invite folks onto his boat. The drinks are very affordable yet nothing particularly fancy. I LOVE THIS PLACE! I bookmarked this place a few days before leaving for my trip to Montreal. I made a conscience decision to get there on weekday to avoid any crowds. I went there last week Tuesday with a local Canadian man. We both ordered tea and a dessert. My date wondered if the tea will come in a teapot. The Canadian gods must have heard him because our tea did come in a teapot!! I got green tea which costed $3.48CAD. There were two dessert options to pick from, tiramisu or chocolate mousse, both the same price for $4.35CAD. My date and I went with the tiramisu. Our total cost was $9CAD each. The green tea was pretty light even though we let it steep for 5 minutes. The tiramisu was pretty good. On the location. I absolutely love the boat atmosphere. Very romantic feel to it. Just looking at the water, you think the boat is moving, but it's not. After my date and I finished enjoying our tea and dessert, we went outside and sat in front of the boat. It was a cold night. They had blankets and pillow on the two seats outside along with a fake fireplace. Once again, very romantic feel to it. I would definitely go back when next time I visit Montreal again. read more

Beautiful and charming! The menu is incredibly simple listing nothing but the basics in drinks (white and red wine, a small selection of beer and your classic spirits). There are only drinks on the menu with chips, popcorn and olive to munch on as you enjoy the colourful, calming ambience and view of the lachine canal. I live across the canal and have come to this place on 3 separate occasions with out of town guests. Selection is minimal but it's fine. I went in a group of 4 last night. We had finished dinner and thought it would be nice to have a nightcap so we mosied on over. The outdoor spots were taken but being a Sunday night, there was only one other couple on the boat so we took a seat inside. The boat does have an odor but it's tolerable. My 3 other guests ordered a drink and I perused the menu but didn't feel like ordering one at that moment. i told our server i'm ok for now. A few minutes go by and when they were ready to bring our drinks over, the bartender calls across the boat. "You aren't ordering a drink?" I said in a bit but i'm ok for now. He responds: "Who comes to a bar and doesn't order anything?!" This took me completely by surprise and I didn't know if he was joking, as my back was to the bar, my brother had witnessed them discussing it and looking like they had attitude so he said. Why would you give her attitude when we're all ordering drinks? We all thanked them and walked out. This bartender was extremely rude and i will never return to this place. I could have been a designated driver, or pregnant. It was extremely disappointing and have never been treated like this at any establishment.
