Unfortunately, as time went on, hurricane season arrived, storms appeared, prices went up and companies became very busy. After Hurricane Irma, our need became greater and thankfully, we found Canary Tree Service. They came out promptly, assessed our situation, and not only gave us a decent estimate but were able to schedule us in a reasonable time. They showed up early. They were extremely safe. I never once worried about my house or garage's safety as they took down the massive tree in our back yard. It took them literally all day to do it, but they got the job done and cleaned up afterward. They were all extremely polite and very professional. I had several trees in my yard that were very close to my pool enclosure. I called up canary on a Monday, Lyle came out on Wednesday to do the assessment. He was prompt and professional. He gave us a great deal on the tree removal. They came out on Friday and had all the trees down by Friday evening. The job was somewhat complicated, to cut the trees so they wouldn't fall on my pool enclosure. So I was impressed with the technical skill of the workers. The workers were very polite and responsive to my requests. My neighborhood has a noise ordnance, so they were nice enough to come back on Monday to do the clean up. They even raked my yard and blew out my driveway. I am very satisfied with the service, price, and quality. This was my first experience using a tree trim service and I have to say I was pretty impressed. The visit for the quote was on time and as I learnt later, very reasonable. We tried checking others and they were the most reasonably priced. The scheduling was about a week or so ahead, instead of another vendor who said up to eight weeks! We got the noticed they were coming and the crew was super punctual. Their system is pretty impressive and they were super clean and fast. These guys came out and gave us an estimate after rescheduling twice. We thought we would hire them to remove a tree that was delaying our roof replacement because they had a reasonable price and the equipment to handle the job. We paid our deposit and after they rescheduled the job 3 times (more than a month) I contacted them to cancel because our roof replacement and home purchase were being delayed due to this tree. I was told that the $200 deposit was nonrefundable even after I explained that I was canceling because they kept rescheduling the job even though they were aware of the circumstances. I contacted another company and they had the tree down and removed in less than 4 hours so I have no idea why they kept postponing the job. If you need to count on the job getting done in a timely manner then don't even bother contacting these guys! read more

Run run! They are gougers ...lawsuits everywhere. They say they will only charge your insurance company...lie lie..they now have placed a lien on our home. We now have to go through the legal route. Had two fairly large pines in my back yard that needed to come down before hurricane season. Got several estimates and choose Canary Tree Service because they seemed to be the best price considering the size and reputation of the different companies. They said they would call a day or so in advance of showing up and they did. The weather was touch and go but they showed up on time and, despite having to sit out a passing thunderstorm, finished the job in a few hours. The crew were obviously highly experienced experts and knew exactly how to drop those trees where they needed to be. They put down mats on the lawn to protect the turf as much as possible. Face it, you're not going to drop two 50' pine trees, haul them out of a back yard and not leave marks but these guys did a great job of minimizing any scuff marks. The scuff marks will be grown over in a week or two and the lawn will look like nobody was ever there. Long story short ... great value, couldn't be happier. Will be recommending Canary Tree Service to my friends. read more

Before you commit and give them half of what's due check the fine print. I paid 375 up front on a monday, was told can do friday, but another more lucrative job came up so I was pushed to the following Tuesday. I called and schedule an appointment for a free estimate between 4-5pm. I live on over an acre lot. I informed him I work an hour away. On set scheduled appointment day I had a schedule appointment for 4-5 pm and they show up 5 hours early, knowing i work an hour away I guess they don't pay attention, keep their appointment times and don't want or need the business. Not very good customer service I received a text at 11am that said "Hey Mike, Eric w/ Canary Tree. I'm in the Saint Augustine area, and it's 11 a.m. in the morning. I was hoping I can come by and take a look at what your tree work is that needs to be done. And I'm currently park at the gate out front. You would call me back as soon as you can at 904-955-0017. If you need me to come back, it will be late this afternoon early evening before that is possible. What did you need to have done? The tenant is here to let me in I replied back and said "You will have to come back when I am there. To hard to explain " (because I have over an acre) He then replied "Just to let you know, it may be this evening or even tomorrow afternoon before I can get back. They're normally 3 estimators that have different sections of the area, however, two went up to the storm in North Carolina, so I'm covering all three territories." This company is not upstanding. They continue to attempt and complete jobs that are not permitted and disregard laws and fences in place to protect specimen trees. They also, have out of state issues for price gouging post hurricane, in North Carolina. Seems they will do anything for a paycheck. read more

I had a couple of trees down after a wind storm and was referred to Canary Tree Service through another local tree removal company. They came and removed two trees and charged me $21,000 to remove these trees. They also damaged my yard and cracked my driveway. I tried contacting them about damages and they never got back to me. I filed a complaint with the BBB and they responded about the high charges saying there was an emergency fee and a fee to move equipment. They told me about the emergency fee but didn't tell me labor would be double since I'm out-of-state. They didn't address the damages to my yard or driveway when responding to my BBB complaint. They have been known to go to states where there is a declared disaster to do work and charge these high fees to unsuspecting customers. They have been investigated by multiple states for price gouging consumers during disasters. Another tree company quoted me $5000 to remove 3 trees similar to the ones removed by Canary. Even excluding double labor, I was still charged over $10,000 for 2 trees. Watch out for them if you are in another state declared a disaster. In my case, my local tree company sent them to me and I was under the impression billing would go through my local tree company. read more

My neighbor on Waterchase Way in Pablo Bay just had Canary Tree Service over for work. They drove their tracked-wheel tractor over my neighbor's and my yard - damaging our turf (not the customer's they were serving). When I pointed this out and suggested he should move his truck so he could use the cutsomer's driveway to load his tractor so as to avoid our yard, he said he would rather damage someone's yard over a driveway. Incredible! I asked that sod be put down and nothing - they just drove away. At least I can get this message out to others. read more

This was my first interaction with a tree trimming service. They arrived on time. 2 guys, 2 trees, 3 hours. Shortly after they finished, the truck arrived to pick up the trimmings. The trimming and cleaning of the trees went way beyond my expectations, as did the cleanup afterwards. You other tree services better watch out. Canary set the bar pretty high. read more

Why would I hire someone to do such a job when they apparently can not read? I have a sign 1 foot from where this was placed on my door that says " NO SOLICITING". You friggin morons, things like this mean something to me, I suspect I am not the only one with such a sign, and can bet you placed some there as well. When getting ready to hire them read the reviews, I agreed on a price with Lyle for Thursday because that same day they were to have their equipment for a job at Eagle Harbor, did not show up until Fri eve by 5:00pm Lyle stated they would lay down track mats so as to not ruin the driveway they did not, perhaps because they were only working with a couple of hours of daylight, the job of trimming the trees was good but I need to say the guy up top of the boom was unprofessional in the way he responded back to me when he asked if there was anything else I needed cut, his co-worker down below apologized for his behavior to both my neighbor and myself and said they had a long day. lesson learned don't hire them as the last job of the day. the job was not free and now I will have to hire an additional person to pressure wash my driveway at an additional co$t, Lyle stated I should have told him that the driveway had been pressure washed a couple of months back, I believe that is irrelevant the job site should be left as it was found clean, and that's how it is with a lot of contractor$ more of a hit and run deal. read more
