I brought my godkids (ages 2 and 7) to this amazing park, and they had an absolute blast!…read moreThere's so much to do -- a tennis court, basketball court, soccer field, a pool, and even a gym inside the YMCA. The park was super clean, very family-friendly, and there's free parking inside. Such a great place to spend the day with kids!

Peter Bluesten Park was formerly City Park which was built just after the Korean War so residents…read morecould have a place to gather and play. By 1990 the park had fallen in disrepair. In 2005 City Park was changed to honor Peter Bluesten who was the founder and publisher of the Hallandale Digest. Mr. Bluesten was a WWII veteran who moved to Hallandale from New Jersey in 1946 and he founded the paper in 1963. He took the paper from a one sheet advertisement to a widely read and respected paper that chronicled the history and growth of the city. It was a hometown paper that the community relied on. Mr, Bluesten was very involved with youth sports in the city. He passed away in 1996. The park was redesigned by Craven Thompson & Associates Inc. and the remodeled 16.5 acre Peter Bluesten Park opened to the public on September 28, 2019. One of the highlights is the park's Aquatics Center which has a 25-meter by 25-yard competition style pool with eight lane short course section for high school swim competitions and recreational interactive water features. The pool was designed to meet all of the requirements for USA Swimming. The multipurpose main pool has a large learn-to-swim area, a dedicated water aerobics area, and a beach entry. Both pools are design-built concrete pools with deck level overflow gutter systems. There is also a 1,800 sq. ft water playground with an elevated play structure, which includes multiple decks, slides, rain buckets, water cannons, dancing floor jets and water curtains. Other park amenities include The Hallandale Beach YMCA, an artificial Safeshell turf soccer field, three baseball fields, concession stand, outdoor stage, playground, tennis, basketball, bankshot basketball, racquetball, walking path, and support buildings. The city uses the park for a number of events like their annual Easter Egg Hunt and Movies Under the Stars. If there is one small drawback to Peter Bluesten Park it is that it does not have a parking lot. You have to pay by app and park on the street. Other that that this is a really amazing park with something for everyone to enjoy.

"You had multiple subscriptions with the same email address." That's absolutely insane -- what kind of platform even allows duplicate subscriptions under one email? It reeks of negligence at best, and predatory behavior at worst. Even worse, they provide no email invoices, no reminders, no notifications -- nothing. Charges just silently appear on your credit card statement. I only noticed after combing through months of charges. Trying to reach support? Good luck. They have no phone support -- only email. And even then, getting a straight answer or timely resolution is a struggle. Cancelling the subscription or removing your credit card info is made intentionally difficult, which tells you everything you need to know about how this business operates. This is one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had, and it feels like they are banking on people not noticing recurring charges. If you're considering signing up -- DON'T. Save yourself the hassle, the money, and the stress. There are far better tennis communities and services out there that actually care about transparency and their users.

Drake is dealing with a serious novice and couldn't be more patient and positive. He's been working hard to give me a solid foundation in technique rather than rushing to play, per se, for which I am thankful. I would think anyone would appreciate his attitude, knowledge, and adaptive teaching technique. I couldn't have a better coach and am appreciative we were matched.

The center itself is nice. The courts are in very good condition. Clay and hard courts. Racquet…read moreball courts as well as 2 tennis walls for practice. (walls $1 per hour) They offer private lessons as well as group clinics. I believe private are $50 per hour with a pro/instructor. Group clinics: 8 classes for $110 or $20 each. You can purchase an annual membership at $641 per couple. With membership- no addt'l charge to play during the day, but addt'l $2 pp for evening play to cover lighting costs. Which I felt was nickel and diming as well as the $1 for the wall rental. Group clinics are M & W from 7-8pm. They typically break up into 2 classes- one with more advanced/intermediate players and one for beginners. Beware of the beginner class. It is not for real beginners that have no former experience at all. Runs as quickly as boot camp and if you had no prior experience i.e. holding racket, basic form for forehand and backhand you will be very frustrated and will not learn the 101 stuff. When I went I was already taking private lessons at another facility (Surfside Tennis Center- which I highly recommend) and did know my basics but the speed of the class didn't allow me to work on my form or technique it was just about faster and quicker. Within 60 minutes I received 1 actual critique to help me improve (is that a lesson?). The next day when I returned to my private lesson I was rushing the ball, swinging way too fast and was all over the place, essentially wiping away any advancement I had achieved in private lessons. It took another hour/ $50 to repair what I ruined from the night before back in my private lessons. The second and last time I participated in the clinic the coach told me in front of everyone I was slowing down the class and it was not a private lesson- which I connected with most balls and ran just as fast as everyone else, but I did ask him why everything needed to be so fast so I guess that prompted his frustration. Even as I progress I will not return to such a clinic, especially there as that is not the best use of my time or patience. Just not the learning environment for me. At the end of class 2 we played doubles. I don't even know the rules of the game yet. He was also very frustrated when I told him I wasn't taught to serve yet. Maybe not every group clinic is the same, but this was my first and only experience with clinics so far. I would love to hear back from other locals that have experienced a better class for groups to help supplement my private lessons. No refunds on any of the clinics- we signed up for the series of 8 classes but being a city facility we were told too bad. No transfers (so boyfriend could use them in clinics) either. Use them or loose them. I am hoping they will at least offer me 1 or 2 private lessons for the $ they have of mine that will not be used on clinics. TBA. Court Time: day play $14 per couple and night play $18 per couple. Hours are M-f 8am-9pm and weekends 8am-5pm.
