My first visit in 2018 to Cancun Dental Specialists was made to get some extensive dental work done. In the United States I got an estimate for approximately $21,000 for the work to be done, including 3 implants by a periodontist who charged over $150 just to evaluate what was needed. A friend of mine had been to Ocean Dental (CDS) with excellent results, so I decided to try it instead of going into debt for extensive & anxiety producing dental work. They picked me up at the airport at the beginning of my trip, transported me to & from appointments every day as part of the package & then took me back to the airport for my departure. The drivers are so nice, & love to practice English while I practice Spanish. Also you meet people from all over the place coming for dental care to their clinic. I was greeted by kind professionals at the front desk, evaluated for free after free xrays were examined. There was a team of dental specialists in the room discussing the best approach & I was included in the discussion & allowed to ask any question I had. Once we agreed on the procedures given the time I had allotted for my trip, they made it all work. I was explained the costs up front & decided immediately to proceed. I could hardly believe my savings. If I had do overs I would spend a few more days & spread it out some more, but that was how much work I needed & they worked on me every day for 5 days straight. Repair on an old root canal & 2 others, maxillary surgury, bone grafting & they saved my original teeth rather than put in implants as I was recommended in the USA. Plus I had 2 zirconium crowns, one of which I had to come back for due to time limits to make the second one, so they adjusted accordingly to the best solution till I could return. They guaranteed their work & bent over backwards to give me the right specialist for the right job, & they all work as a team. It is the most intelligent setup for dentistry I've ever seen. Those professionals are highly skilled, & work so hard, long hours, to make sure all their patients are well cared for. I could not believe how reasonable the price was for all that work & they did all they could to make me comfortable in the process of receiving it. When I returned 7 months later, thinking I needed certain procedures, they were so pleased with my progress that I was able to avoid more extensive work, & just had a small cavity filled & the second crown fitted (for free since it was paid for & guaranteed at first visit) & a cleaning. All this was done by dental specialists, my teeth are all intact, healing well, I have a nice clean whiter smile with no cosmetic adjustments & feel very good about going back down there in a six months for another cleaning & a checkup. I trust them implicitly & they really care about you as patient. Cancun is fun, safe, adjacent to many amazing archaeological sites, & great things to do for families & individuals. I went alone the first time as a single woman & had a great time, found my own accomodations online & they had no problem transporting me from there. I felt great taking public transport on my own time, or shopping, or exploring & always felt well looked after by the staff at Cancun Dental Associates/Ocean Dental. They are my dentists now, tho I keep a local general dentist for emergencies, I know I will receive excellent care there at excellent, affordable prices. I would go there more regularly just to visit Cancun & surrounding areas if I didn't have so many responsibilities at home. It is fun, affordable, a place for excellent adventures, there is a feeling of protection all along Kukulcan Blvd (the hotel zone) due to vigilant police protection, & the food & restaurants are amazing. If you can't eat temporarily due to dental surguries, there are organic restaurants that will blend you chicken soup for you, or feed you excellent smoothies. My driver found me one, & I go back there just for the food. We are fortunate to have them close enough to be there in a day of flying & they get right to work with your exam, so use the time you have allotted wisely. From start to finish I am more than pleased with having them as my dentists & have high regard for the whole team & their professionalism & kindness in general. I was a bit trepidacious at first but soon all my fears were allayed & I would highly recommend them & Cancun to anyone needing good, reliable, affordable dentistry. Their range of services is kind of mind boggling, all under one roof. And Mexico is a land of wonder, much of which is only a day trip away with guided tours & extraordinary historical ruins, cenotes, beautiful cultures, & the amazing beaches. I always leave wishing I had more time to just enjoy the beauty of the land and it's people. I have only written one or two reviews in my life (one was a negative experience with a kayaking company in South Africa). I am doing this review because I have been totally blown away with an experience at Cancun Dental Specialists just last week. It may sound dumb, but I want as many people to hear about this as possible. I start with an experience three years ago. I went to a dentist in Salt Lake City that specializes in All-on-Four fixed dentures. My teeth were a mess and I wanted to get a professional consultation. The oral surgeon did all the xray stuff and then sat me down for his expert opinion. Great news, he could help me and recommended a fixed denture, All-on-Four procedure. The cost: $45,000! Needless to say, I quickly lost any interest. Somehow I had heard of dental tourism. My first thought was, "Dental work in Mexico? Really?" I probed deeper into the subject. The more I researched the topic the more I found satisfied patients, excellent reviews and what appeared to be professional clinics in Mexico. Moreover, a spokesperson for the American Dental Association said on NPR that there are many fine dentists in Mexico, but, like anything else, you have to do your homework to get to the right people. I looked at clinics in Tijuana, Algodones, Costa Rica and Cancun. I became very interested in Cancun Dental Specialists for several reasons: The clinic owner did her advanced dental studies in restorative dentistry at the University of Michigan (one of the top three dental schools in the U.S.) I spoke or electronically communicated to several people who had gone there and questioned them about their experience - everyone had good things to say -The dentists have excellent credentials with continuing education in the USA and lots of experience under their belt -They had state of the art equipment, their own lab that worked 24/7 -They are the largest user in all Mexico of Nobel Biocare implant hardware -They all speak good English -Dental coordinators pull it all together, hassle-free -English-speaking drivers to transport you to and from appointments and the airport -The pricing was jaw-dropping low (pun intended) They seemed to have all the right ingredients for me to pull the trigger and let them do my dental work. I called and spoke with a dental coordinator and we set an appointment. And, I had never been to Cancun and had heard nothing but great things about the beaches and the water! Important: After my 3D scan/xray, I met with Dr. Lugo, the clinic's oral surgeon. He told me I was NOT a candidate for an All-on-Four procedure. I had excellent roots and strong bone structure. Quite the opposite of the U.S. "professional" three years ago. Instead, they recommended a Full Mouth Restoration. This would mean more work and less money for them than an All-on-Four. I call my trip to Cancun, "The Agony and the Ecstasy." I hate being in any dental chair - USA or Cancun! It is agony. However, when I saw the results for their work in just one week, I was completely overwhelmed. It was pure ecstasy! And the price? 40% of what I would have paid in the United States. I reside in ColoRADo and will NEVER go to a dentist in the US again. I saved over $30,000.00$ on Quad Zygomatic Implants up top and All on 6 Implants on bottom. Words cannot even begin to express my gratitude to the entire team at this amazing clinic. I had previously had composite resin veneers done somewhere else and I was not happy with my results and my experience there was also not the greatest. I came across Cancun Dental Specialists whole doing an online research on affordable and great dental clinics. Once I filled out an online consultation form I got a call back the next day from Greg Sanchez. Now Greg has been beyond amazing, he not only helped calm down my initial doubts, but was extremely helpful in getting me set up with the procedures I was looking to have done, right down to transportation. Once I decided that I was going to them (Cancun Dental Specialists), Greg Sanchez remained in constant communication with me up until my travel date. I had a lot of questions and he always got back to me in a very timely manner. His professionalism stood out to me. Once I arrived in Cancun, I was met with the driver Daniel, who was super kind and funny. I got to the clinic and the first day they did an in person consultation appointment just to get an idea of what exactly I wanted done or fixed. After the appointment I went back to my hotel and the next day they did the first phase of my procedure which was to fix my original composite veneers and the dentist Dr Guillermo Gomez not only fixed my imperfections, but gave me the exact beautiful smile I was looking for to begin with. I also got filler under my eyes again as the original filler had already wore off. Dr Pazz did my under eye filler and was very gentle and did an amazing Job as well. This was on a Saturday. I came back Monday for my final procedure which was an upper lip lift and was done by Dr Omar Lugo and he was super amazing! I felt absolutely zero pain and he made sure to constantly check on me and make sure I was ok as I was under local anesthesia so I was awake throughout the whole thing. Initially I was nervous but soon relaxed when I realized I couldn't feel anything. Dr Lugo also made sure to explain everything he was doing at each step of the procedure. Also the same day, prior to my lip lift surgery the dentist checked my teeth and tweaked a minor thing on my upper right lateral. The entire team made sure I was satisfied with everything before I left Cancun. They also organized my transportation back to the airport as well. I have honestly never received this level of care and commitment to a clients well being and happiness anywhere in the US especially at an affordable price! I cannot explain enough thru typing how absolutely AMAZING CDS is. I want to start by thanking my dentist Audrey.. she is the definition of going above and beyond. Audrey is so thorough she sent my veneers back twice because they were not perfect, even though I thought they looked fine. After she placed the final ones on it was truly perfect. I had and a other procedure done while I was in Cancun and she grabbed me blankets and adjusted me until I was comfortable. The BEST dentist/doctor I've ever had! I was there 1.5 years ago to get veneers to all 16 teeth. After meeting Dr. Cindell she informed me because of my alignment the veneers would look really bad and break off easily. Of course after hearing that I was devastated because I avoided braces my whole life. Thankfully I listened to her advice and got braces placed. She did offer me a discount for when I return for the veneers. She remembered me this time after I returned and greeted me with open arms. After the braces I only placed veneers on my top 8 teeth, gum contoured my teeth and whitening my non veneer teeth. Paid less than half the price with my discount that she didn't forget about. Ben has been in communication with me during this entire time and his responses are very quick. He helped me with the planning and checked up on me. He was there for me whenever I needed him. Sabrina and Melissa are the dental assistants that where there everyday with Dr. Audrey. Sabrina is so funny and so smart she's only 20 and was very knowledgeable. She assisted me to the pharmacy and waiting with me for my ride and even went to forever 21 with me to find socks. She became a friend to me! I wanted to steal her to the US but Dr. Audrey said no ‍ Melissa is definitely very experienced she did my Zoom teeth whitening and oh my word had no discomfort during the whole process. She is very very sweet and definitely a hype girl! Sofia and Itzel and scheduling coordinators they scheduled all my rides no matter where I had to go and like Ben had very fast response times. Every time I came into the office they were so positive and also hyped me up. The drivers are so kind and helpful, I never felt so safe being out of country by myself. Which brings me to my favorite drivers Ricardo and Eduardo picked me up the most and every they were so joyful and had no problem stopping by the stores before taking me to the hotel and even waited for me when it was only 2 minutes away. I need a lot of work. I chose CDS based on hours of review and thought. I scheduled my consultation with the hopes of having a clear, direct plan for my teeth. CDS provides transportation which is very helpful. We were picked up at our hotel and taken directly to the office. Carolina checked myself and my husband in. My husband had much less need and was taken for his xrays and consultation quickly. I had the thorough around-the-head X-ray. This X-ray I have paid $500 for in the US... and I have insurance!! In fact, I have double dental insurance coverage. And still I have paid $500 for the same whole head X-ray... that was a positive check in the box for CDS that this X-ray is included with the consultation which cost me $60.00. I met with Dr Oscar and explained my goal with the visit. I do speak Spanish but spoke to everyone in the office in English and there was no obstacle. Dr. Oscar took several more xrays on individual teeth. He was extremely thorough. After he pulled up my X-rays on the ceiling monitor. My consultation was extremely clear. Dr Oscar did not rush, I had ample opportunity to ask my questions. My plan is set! While I was waiting in the office I did meet other patients who have been coming to this office for years... all from the US Their feedback was overall positive. I start my treatment in December and am excited to begin. My husband had an even more amazing consultation. All of the things he walked in saying he needed, per our US dentist...bone graph, deep cleaning every 2 months were all deemed unnecessary. This sold us on this office as well. My husband was basically "giving" them money for things he was told he needed. After xrays and consultation he was shown why he did NOT need to do what was he was being told. So in a situation where they could have made a decent amount of money, they did not try to do work that they deemed unnecessary. This review is for anyone in the same position as I am. Needing extensive dental work but unable to fathom paying US pricing... even with being insured. No one can guarantee each of our outcomes since all of our mouths and teeth are different and need different treatments but what I can do is recommend this office for their honestly, English speaking, state of the art equipment, convenience and personal testimonies of other patients who say they stand behind their word. I got very upsetting news from my dentist in Canada: all of my front teeth had to be crowned because of bone mass loss and not enough tooth left for more fillings. I faced $27,000 worth of dental work at once or crowning one tooth a year (this is my dental insurance plan) for the next 12 years. I was told that two of my bottom teeth couldn't even be crowned because these were "mobile" - whatever that means in the dental world. I was devastated. I was thinking of going to Poland because the same work would cost me less than a quarter of the price quoted in Canada but it's very cold there in November and the flight takes up to 36h. I don't have adequate words to praise Dr. Cindell - skilled, fast, gentle, compassionate, sensitive, caring ... these are just a few but these words do not and can not describe this amazing lady dentist. It's like trying to describe a sunrise: you can't convey the experience of watching it, you just have to experience. What I could say, though, is that she has the best training available. When our family was presented with a huge dental estimate (near $10k!) from our local dentist after insurance, we knew we needed to explore other options. After searching and not finding anything reasonable in the US, we started to look abroad and found Cancun Dental Specialists (CDS). It seemed too good to be true for just a flight away and a 70% reduction in cost for even better services, but a few months after more pain we bit on it to give it a try. The experience was PHENOMENAL. They arranged everything from airport pickup to drivers to the office and back - they were literally not a minute late for every appointment. They explained everything promptly, accepted US credit card payment, and no funny business - with prices exactly as advertised. The quality of the Zirconia crowns we received excelled what we would have had in the US, and they treated us very well and explained everything in reasonable English every visit. All the staff, dentists, and even drivers were courteous, and the office was modern and comfortable as well. 6 months later, the treatment has still held up very well and my family is looking for excuses to visit CDS again! We usually don't write reviews, but the tipping point for us was when they continued to support us AFTER we had returned to the US with our out-of-network insurance claim. Our insurance denied all the initial paperwork asking for narratives, tooth diagrams, x-rays, etc etc multiple times, and each time CDS responded in a few days with the documentation needed which led to us receiving over 50% of what we paid to CDS back from insurance. This showed their real character - when they had already received payment, knew we were unlikely to return again, yet continued to support us without any additional cost to get reimbursed by our painful insurance. Impressed, impressed, impressed. I had a full mouth restoration replacing over 20 years of crowns and retreat the root canals. First I had an evaluation in June and was impressed with the High-end technology and equipment, dentist services, evaluation, and of course the cost of the dental plan. When I came back in September, I had only 6 days, which is really hard to restore over 22 crowns, retreat the root canals and extract the necessary teeth. Dr. Irma Gavaldon greeted me in the office and wished a pleasant painless procedure. Dr. Gustavo Mareno was taking care of no other dentists back home in my entire life. Dr. Javier Paz extracted 5 back teeth including 2 wisdoms, installed the bone graft, and sew, I didn't even feel anything. Had dinner after one hour after extraction and had no pain, no inflammation. All medicine they prescribed; I didn't even use for no need reason. Dr. Guillermo Gomez retreated my root canals, using the latest technology and spending a lot of time under the microscopic and many Xrays by Genoray sensors until the canals were done extremely perfectly. If you'll look on a panoramic xray, even the blind can find the difference between the work he's done and previous. Now I have to return back about in 6 months for the implant work. They installed temporary single crowns which look like expensive zirconia material, and I feel it my own teeth. Coming back home, my neighbor highly experienced dentist with a high-end practice in Aventura, FL noticed my excellent teeth and didn't even notice that is temporary teeth and highly complimented the work. I would like to thank the whole crew of CDS including assistants, technicians, administrative staff, and drivers who never were late and highly punctual like Swiss. READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO, my wife and I just got back after having a lot of work done by Cancun dental specialists, WE COULD NOT BE HAPPIER, this is the best dental experience I have ever had, AND No one is paying for me to write this, The work they did is first rate bar none, and totally painless, best of all they really care about you, I know that sounds hard to believe, but it is really true. I had just been to 2 dentists in the US and was told that I needed a dental implant and a crown on my lower molar, due to a crack in it, both US dentists said it split the molar in half, it needed to be a the very least crowned and they both wanted to pull the tooth and replace it with an implant. The VERY PROFESSIONAL dentists at Cancun Dental Specialists took complete x rays and showed me that the crack did not split the molar in half and in fact did not even need a crown, THIS IS HOW I KNOW THEY ARE VERY HONEST, the repair was way less than the crown. Starting off, we would like to thank our contact person Noah. Who worked with us to set up our appointment on a short notice. He was very prompt with his replies and had the doctors review our teeth and our pricing within 24 hrs. Upon arrival in Cancun, (April 4th) our transportation was waiting for us at the airport. We arrived at the dental clinic 30 mins later. The front desk staff Maria, Hanna, and Aridai were very professional and helpful with keeping our appointments, arranging our transportation, and helping us with other needs. We received exam and consultation, and our dental work began the next morning. Starting out with my root canal with Dr. Thelma which took approximately about 45 mins was truly unbelievable with zero pain unlike many of my painful experiences in the USA. She is truly a gifted and professional root canal specialist. As well as her assistant Abraham, he was professional and efficient. Later that afternoon, I met with Dr. Karen and her assistant Dayanira were she started the process of preparing my upper 6 teeth for my crowns. I normally don't like the numbing process but in this case, Dr. Karen was very precise and gentle with virtually zero pain. After she prepared my teeth, she proceeded to prepare my temporaries to wear till the next day. Which looked good btw. The next morning, Dr. Karen installed my 6 crowns with great attention to detail making sure that everything is perfect. She is hands down the best dentist I've ever had. I highly recommend CDS to everyone. They're highly skilled staff really care about the patient and their attention to small details to make your experience unforgettable. SAFE AMALGAM REMOVAL. I had a great experience at this dental clinic. I decided to have my amalgam fillings removed, and booked a week later, for one week. MOst things were arranged before i left Canada. They were helpful from beginning to end. I had my initial assessment right from the moment I landed. A car brought me straight to the office from the airport for 3D scan x-rays, and jaw molds, to see clearly the work that needed to be done. We all agreed four amalgam removals, three resin fillings and one crown for a broken molar. The work was done over two short sessions, the next day, Saturday, and then Monday. My crown was made from Saturday to Monday morning. It was a perfect fit on the first try. My dentist, Dr. Carolina and her great assistant were gentle, efficient, and experienced. They followed the SMART protocol removing my amalgams safely with oxygen for my nose, venting at my mouth, safety glasses on me as well as full body and head coverage that exposed only my mouth. I was offered a charcoal drink before my treatment but had prepared my own at the hotel. I had the most gentle, and efficient application of dental clamps i have ever experienced. Dr. Carolina's work was thorough, and detail oriented. All of my transport to, and from the clinic was on time, and courteous. Both of my appointments were on time also. For the less than the price of the same dental work in Canada, I had a flight, accommodations, and dental work in beautiful Mexico, at a state of the art facility, with highly experienced staff, that treated me like a V.I.P. I cannot recommend Cancun Dental Specialists highly enough! I recently had extensive dental work done, including extractions, bone grafts, and the installation of 11 titanium implants (6 on top, 5 on the bottom), and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. Dr. Julian, the oral surgeon, was amazing--he thoroughly explained exactly what to expect, introduced me to the anesthesiologist beforehand, and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the procedures. After a few days of healing, Dr. Daniela expertly fitted me for temporary dentures and guided me through the entire process with patience and professionalism. After 6 months of healing, I returned for the next phase. Dr. Julian carefully opened my gums to expose all 11 implants, and Dr. Daniela prepared each implant, made impressions, and constructed trial teeth. They created two sets of trial teeth to ensure the perfect fit, and my final zirconia teeth were made based on the second set. The fabrication process took only 4 days, and installation was smooth. The team even made adjustments the following day to ensure everything was flawless--fortunately, the fit and appearance were perfect on the first try. I've now had my zirconia implants in place for a week with no trouble or pain, and I'm completely satisfied. The results are stunning--my teeth look beautiful, feel natural, and I no longer have to worry about dentures. The front desk team was also warm, professional, and extremely helpful, making the entire experience stress-free. I brush normally and rinse with a Waterpik, and everything is perfect.
