Apple quoted me $700 dollars to fix the computer which did not seem worth it so I tried some local shops. Another nearby shop quoted me $500 to fix the computer but I wanted to keep searching. This SmartPhone Medic location got recommended to me so I went in for a quote. A price of $350 was given to me as the price of part and labor. I figured I would go with it. I dropped off the laptop and they told me it would be about a week. After a week, I got a call, picked up the computer and everything seems good so far. If the part ends up not working, I will definitely make an update but hopefully that does not happen.

The owners (a kind husband & wife duo) welcomed me as soon as I walked in, even though I was a bedraggled mess, having rushed over straight from the car wash in my least polished outfit to make it before they closed. Despite my appearance, they treated me like a VIP & were happy to help. One watch just needed a new battery, but the other required a delicate repair. The cost was far less than I expected & they had the work completed in half the time they expected, which was already reasonable. The store is small, but is clean, well stocked with a wide selection, especially for its size. If they don't have the item you're looking for, they are willing to order it as long as one of their vendors carry it, and the pricing is quite competitive as well.

I'd left messages for them to call me...have never had one call. BBB thought it must be a scam company. Do not use this company!

A few days later, my admin password stopped working and unfortunately FileVault was on! I stood to lose 4 years worth of files. I spent a long time with Apple support on the phone, online. Both times, their final recommendation was to just wipe out everything and start over. Fortunately, Experimax was able to rescue me. I had a password for the hard drive itself and Eric was able to boot the computer using another device, which allowed me to get access to the hard drive. He patiently let me hang out at the store uploading files into iCloud. Afterwards, I had the hard drive wiped out and installed Catalina. The cost was ~$87. Many thanks!

I appreciated my interactions with and service from each of the two owners so much - in different visits - I brought them gifts - which is not normal for me - I just had to GIVE Back. Are they perfect? no. Are they still learning this or that? yes - who isn't - the realm they operate-in is wide and ever-shifting. I went there originally for an issue that was illusive - was it a battery or screen issue with my iPhone? I was SURE it was on Deaths door. It is now working beautifully! Then I came back with my Mac (which is behaving SO much better now) and my partners cell phone (which they said it was a better investment to replace than to fix - thank you!), my partner is going in with his Mac soon. I was happy to see that they were open on Saturday when other shops weren't, especially with an impending ice storm approaching. I really needed my phone repaired ASAP. Sure enough, I was greeted with excellent customer service from the moment I walked through the door. Freddie assisted me with my phone. He was very knowledgeable & said that he would be right back in about 5 minutes. I couldn't believe that in roughly about that time, I was paying for my repaired iPhone. Initially I couldn't remember my password to get back into my iCloud account. He offered options to help restore it. Thankfully, I remembered once I got home. I was able to use my phone again & charge it up just in case I lost power during the ice storm. I'm so grateful to Freddie for walking me through the process effortlessly. There was a mistake made with my order and because of my schedule it took some extra time to get everyone on the same page, but once I was able to explain to the manager what was going on and what had happened he was professional, empathetic, and gracious even when I was aggravated. We all make mistakes and there is zero doubt that this was an honest one....what we do to fix the mistakes is what shows character and in this case customer service and appreciation and they get a 5 star rating from me. Guitar Center is unique in that it is a major chain, but it's a really niche franchise in a pretty specific market and it's threatened by online retailers who will just send you a box with a thing in it at a fixed price. Being able to go to a local store and talk to people who know the gear, but also to be able to buy used gear from a knowledgeable seller who you can trust is an important resource to have in my opinion.
