(And it would be a shame to not review a fun spot like Cancun Mexican Grill.) I stopped in for a solo dinner at this location. I was greeted snd seated immediately but it took a while to order even though the restaurant wasnt busy. The food was delicious but my drink cup arrived with a lipstick stain on it which made me question the cleanliness of the dishes. I was already half done with my margarita so I didnt bother to finish it or send it back especially considering I was drinking from a straw. The food was very flavorful and the portion was good for the price. I would consider returning. More of a 3.7, not quite a 4. read more

I went in here with low expectations however I was proved wrong very quickly! The staff is amazing and friendly. The food came out very fresh, and delicious. The ambiance inside is so colorful and festive. You can spend time just discussing the visual art and really getting that authentic Mexican experience! I ordered the papa (baked potato). It was a little different than what I am used to. But it was delicious nonetheless! I would def recommend hitting this spot up! Oh yeah and there is plenty of parking! read more

Cute interior that's at the end of a strip mall. There is a patio and the inside is bigger than it looks. We ordered the guacamole which came in a small bowl like it was a side of guac instead of the appetizer. The chips were warm but below average. Salsa was also below average, runny and a bit too spicy. My chilaquiles were not great. The rice has peas in it which cost them a star. Server was ok, but didn't check on us for refills. This restaurant usually has pretty good service and food. This wasn't the case on this visit. The service was slow and the food was just ok. The margaritas were great though! I would definitely recommend the margaritas. I ordered the vegetable fajitas and the sides with no dairy. Of course it came out with dairy. The food was great here but the service was terrible. I don't think the waitress came by once to see if we were okay. She took our. Order and that was literally the last time we saw her. The different gentleman delivered the dishes to our table and the gentleman who seated us took the money for our bill. We even passed by our waitress on the way out and she didn't say a word like "thank you for coming have a great day!" Which would be normal - right? Anyways, as far as the food goes - I like very hot and spicy and I got the Camerones Diablo which is Shrimp. It was very hot and spicy. It came with rice but I asked to substitute beans for the rice. Disappointed with presentation and temperature with food. Ordered two nachos Cancun and received soupy nachos - had to pour some of the liquid out. Ordered the quesadilla and it's inedible due to wetness. When received food I would describe it as lukewarm. I got a confirmation email saying it would take about 20 min and I would receive an email saying when it was ready and I did not get one. Read many good reviews about this one so we decided to eat there for the weekend. We ordered pineapple fajitas, chipotle fajitas and flan for dessert. That pineapple fajitas caught my eyes because nice presentation (halved pineapple) but the food wasn't so tasty as I expected, not much pineapple; just some tiny pieces. My husband tried it too and he agreed with that. Chipotle fajitas has a lot better taste but feel like half of the dish is onion. Flan for dessert is awesome, I would recommend it. I usually a bit nervous to try Mexican food because it takes half of my time there to pick out tomato, lettuce and not like Spanish rice much either (seems picky eater, I know) . But I think worth to try, and I love all the decorations of table there, so colorful and they all look different. read more

This is similar quality "Mexican" as On the Border chain restaurant. It is not authentic Mexican food like you can find in Mexico or in Los Angeles. I paid over $20 for two chimicangas with no drink. They were not even crispy. read more

I'm giving this place 4 starts because I love the service. They are very attentive and just overall nice people. Part of it makes me think because they saw our vehicle pulling up and our plate says Texas! ;) ;) lol Speaking of Texas...I lived there for 3 years and just left the state recently. So that being said, I've had pretty damn effin good Mexican food. My bf is from there too and ALWAYS crave fajitas. It's on top of his food pyramid growing up. So when we found out that there's a Mexican restaurant nearby, we were stoked!! While the service is incredible, the food is alright. Not the best but it's decent. We ordered fajitas, of course, and literally, we had really thin-sliced pieces of beef on a mountain of bell peppers (see picture). It was kind of disappointing, but what can you expect? We're not in TX anymore where good meat is in abundance. I'm glad they also serve complimentary chips and salsa! And can we talk about the decor?! So festive! read more

Aye aye aye - this was my first and last time here. Food is not fresh, guacamole bordering on brown color, had to ask for silverware three times. Water in bathroom ice cold, one of my biggest pet peeves - it's 15 degrees out, I'd like to be able to wash my hands in at least warm water... I let it run the entire time I was peeing and it never got even luke -warm. Annoying. Took FOREVER to cash out, sever never brought bill so had to go up and ask for it after asking for it at the table. Didn't know how to work register so just gave cash just to get out of there. I stopped in for a late lunch at this charming restaurant and was immediately greeted by Alex who was also my server. He was prompt, friendly and professional, service with a smile. He immediately brought chips and salsa to the table which were tasty. I ordered the fajitas which were a combo of shrimp, chicken and steak and a side of corn tortillas (you may also order flour tortillas). Wow! This dish was served piping hot and sizzling, and a large side plate of rice, re-fried beans, guacamole and Pico de gallo. Thank you Alex, for a terrific meal and service! Grabbed some tacos from Cancun for dinner and had a decent experience overall. The chicken taco was good but a little juicy and didn't taste as seasoned as the steak taco. The steak taco was seasoned well, but didn't come with any toppings. They didn't ask if I wanted corn or flour tortillas so I ended up with flour, and I'm not really sure if they even offer corn tortillas. The tacos were a little larger than traditional street tacos. The beans here where great. Not too runny and not too thick, but rather the perfect creamy consistency. The rice had some veggies in it, which I enjoyed because I think they add to the flavor. The salsa was also good. It was about medium spice but was on the thinner side. The tortilla chips were yellow corn and unsalted. For the price, the meal was filling. All-in-all, I enjoyed my meal and didn't have any complaints, but also wasn't totally blown away. read more

Not your typical strip mall Mexican restaurant. Avoid the typical Tex-Mex items on the menu, and you will have a very authentic Mexican meal. Atmosphere: your typical Mexican strip mall restaurant feel. Fairly new construction, handcarved painted wood booths and tables, very colorful, but still very ' Strip mall'. Drinks: they only serve beer and premade margaritas. At first I was disappointed. Then I tried their house made premixed margarita. It was absolutely fantastic. And I am a margarita connoisseur. Food: much of what I saw around me was your typical Tex-Mex fare. I ordered the molcajete. If you don't know what that is, shame on you. This was probably the best molcajete I ever had in Michigan. Flavorful, spicy, and properly cooked. Most surprisingly, nothing was overcooked. Refried beans and Mexican rice on the side was equally as flavorful. This was really good food. Overall: I can't wait to come back here. Just be careful not to order the typical Tex mex fare. read more

I'm glad I decided to try this place! They were busy, and they said they're typically busy on a "Taco Tuesday"; but my wait was only 20 minutes after ordering. I waited in my truck, but there is a bench outside I could have sat at. The staff all wore masks and sanitized when they came in after serving the patio guests. They were friendly and thorough with all the to-go order piling up. They offer a scan-with-phone menu so people aren't sharing menus. It appeared the inside seating was socially distanced. As far as my food: It appears they give generous portions, so if you're hungry, this is a great go-to Mexican restaurant. My fajitas were good. They came with chips and salsa, but they gave me a queso/"cheese sauce" for checking in on Yelp, which was good. I ordered an extra side of pico-de-gallo because I love a good pico, and I had to try their chile relleno... because I also love a good relleno! Both were good. Not the best of the best, but I would order them again if I'm in town and craving some Mexican. The fajitas came presented in halved pineapple, which was fun. I do have to take my trash out at the hotel now, so I don't have a giant half pineapple sitting around, but I give it to them for trying to make a fun presentation. I ordered the red sauce intended for my relleno on the side, and I have to say, more often than not, I never end up using the red sauce - but, this one was the best I've ever had with a relleno! The only reason I am recommending this place. It is because of the beans because they are the best but all the food is OK.

I've been coming here for just about as long as I can remember. The food comes out in record time (I've actually counted it to be 7 minutes) and it's always more than enough food for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow. The margaritas are huge and I could easily eat several servings of the Mexican rice. They are prompt about replenishing chips and salsa and the staff is always pleasant. Stopped in for a quick lunch @ 2pm on a weekday. Maybe 4 tables occupied. No greeting at the door, just a 'sit wherever you like'. Waited 15 minutes before seeing a server who brought chips/salsa and took our beverage order. No menus, napkins or water. Server came back to take our order after another 10 minutes and we had to tell him we needed menus and napkins. Another outrageous wait and our order was taken. Our food arrived about 40 minutes after we walked in the door. On the positive side, the food is always pretty good as are the margaritas. Not sure why we didn't walk out after the first 15 minutes but the excessive wait time today causes us to cross this restaurant off our list of go-to eateries in the area. read more

The food was excellent! The pineapple fajitas were not only delicious, the presentation was delightful! My husband had Ismael and loved it. We had never had either dish and they were both wonderful! We're from South Florida, so Mexican food is part of our lives--we did not expect to be surprised by any of the menu items and it helped us think about something besides what was happening during Irma! Our server, Aldopho (?) was excellent and very accommodating to our dietary needs. The other thing we loved was the beautiful and interesting decor. So let start off with the food.. I got a carne asada grande burrito, food was just horrible. I have made burritos at home that taste better than theirs. Second, Warning! Do not ever ask for horchata.. The way they make it here is by some white syrup, a little bit of milk, mostly water and some cinnamon. NO!! This is all wrong, tasted like watered down ice cream frosting.. Never seen this in my life.. I am mexican and I come from Los Angeles and this is by far the worst mexican food experience I have ever had around the world, I travel a lot.. My second favorite Mexican spot in the Lansing area. The food is very fresh and flavorful, affordable, and they serve huge portions. Honestly, it's all good stuff. I have nothing negative to say about the food - I even enjoy the chips, which I'm usually a snob about. What I love most about Cancun is the Speedy Gonzales lunch special.
