Well, I gotta say, this is disappointing to write. Fiesta Charra used to be one of our very favorite Mexican restaurants. And the go to for my wife. Often, if we were visiting friends, she would wanna go there as well. Over the last year it seems that things have changed, including menu selections that were outstanding and price hikes. It's a beautiful restaurant. Always clean. And normally quite friendly. However yesterday being Mother's Day, we experienced to whole different side of the restaurant. To be honest, they are often very good at getting drinks and food out fairly quickly. I anticipated they might be really busy for Mother's Day so we called and asked what a good time was to come in and were told anywhere from one to three. When we got there at 1:30 it was maybe a third full. We were sat. A young lady asked us what we wanted to drink. Our children joined us 10 minutes later. 10 minutes after that our waitress appeared. The boys ordered drinks of pop. Someone else brought them to the table and we waited another 10 minutes for our waitress to come back to the table for our order. Everything we ordered was very common. As we watched the place around us fill up, we noticed that they were giving out flowers to the mother seated. I thought that was nice and I could see my wife watching. Meanwhile, it was taking a very long time for us to receive our food another 30 minutes past. Our glasses were empty. The chips and salsa depleted. And we could see our waitress, but she would never come by the table. It felt off. Finally our food arrived. Over 45 minutes since we were seated. Our waitress came back by and brought refills for the boys. And then was gone again. She did not reappear for another 25 minutes. We watched her with other tables. Finally, she came and asked if we wanted anything else we said no we had to get going. She gave a check. And walked away. I was so surprised that we had such lousy service. It was almost as if we had done something wrong. And on top of it , we paid our bill gave a tip and she didn't even offer my wife a flower from Mother's Day. It was a bizarre and somewhat hurtful experience. I'm not very apt to go back. It was a lot of money for what we received. And for a special day to be singled out, it didn't feel good. And that's sad because it is indeed one of our favorite places to be in East Lansing. read more

You finish shopping and there's Fiesta Charra if you're hungry. We got the following: - chicken taco salad: there was very little of the salad, rice, and beans, but heaps of shredded chicken - poblano chicken: this was a hit with the group. The chicken was cut in tiny strips, was well cooked and seasoned. Tasty! - chicken quesadilla: flavorful! Was meant for the kids but the adults enjoyed it too - chicken enchiladas: covered in a tasty sauce, very comforting. - shrimp Diablo: they were out of the tilapia, so we got the shrimp instead. Fiesta Charra by Costco is a lovely place. I give them full credit for being festive -- we visited around Halloween and they had some cool Dia de los Muertos decorations. As I write this on my phone (December 2023) they're in Christmas mode, and they've gone all out on lights, ornaments, and glowing Santa Clauses (more than one). We're slowly working our way through the menu and can report that we are fond of their birria tacos and carne asada tacos. House margaritas are strong and yummy. They have Dos Equis on tap. My family and I went there for dinner after going to the Christmas Pops at Wharton Center on Sunday. The customer service was good, everyone was friendly, and the restaurant was clean. They seated us in a dining area where we were the only people there. (I'm guessing given the number of us) The chips and salsa were great, but our food wasn't good at all. Now, I really enjoy eating Mexican food, but I wasn't impressed with the taste/quality of their food. Most of us didn't finish eating because the food wasn't good. If you're looking for a good Mexican restaurant to eat at, I'd NOT recommend Fiesta Charra. There are other Mexican restaurants in the area that are much, much better. This delightful cantina is near our home and we visit often. It is convenient to our family and friends so makes a great meeting place during busy weeks for a quick meal and visit! I had high hopes for Fiesta Charra. I had many friends recommend it, so I was excited. I order the enchilada, chalupa, and quesadilla lunch combo. I will say, on the way down the food was AMAZING. However, I soon discovered my mistake. I have a peanut allergy, and I quickly realized the food had been cooked in peanut oil or something that was triggering my allergy. I was able to get to my medicine in time, but I never would have thought that a Mexican restaurant would use peanut oil. 10/10 recommend, but be careful if you have allergies. read more

Treated my parents to dinner at Fiesta Charra after they helped out with some home improvement projects last week and really enjoyed it. The chips and salsa appetizer was pretty traditional, however I noticed the chips were unsalted, which I liked. All of our food came out hot and fast. We all enjoyed the food, and my mom really enjoyed the cheesecake she got to-go. We felt the portions were great and we all left full. I couldn't happen but notice how big the restaurant was, and think this would be a great spot for a large group or shower. My husband and I love this restaurant. Great staff, authentic, clean and great food! I often eat Enchiladas Verdes de Pollo. I could eat their salsa all day. I visited this restaurant, after reviewing their menu online, and choosing a meal specifically for the inclusion of guacamole. When my meal was brought, there was no guacamole, and guests sitting next to me also received meals sans guacamole. We were informed that the menus online (on their website, today) were old, and guacamole was no longer included in our meals. So, I paid an additional $6.99 for guacamole, since Mexican food isn't worth eating without guacamole. I spoke with the manager, but he simply stated that the owners made the decision and he had no influence over anything. Fabulous meals here! I had the fish tacos and they were nice and fresh and the service was excellent My husband had the La Mejor and he said it was the best Mexican he has ever had. The staff was friendly and attentive. I got the special combo which came with a burrito, taco, tostada, rice & beans among other things that escape me right now. My wife got the hot & spicy burrito which came with chicken, beef, and topped with steak tips. She asked for no chicken because she's not big on all those proteins in one burrito. The food came out fast and hot which is a definite plus, however her order came out wrong as it still came with chicken and they forgot the steak tips. She also asked for pico instead of sour cream. That didn't happen either. We didn't bother saying anything because we were hungry and in a hurry. Overall the food was good despite the errors. I called up the restaurant to verify if they should be included and they said yes. I was offered to go back and pick it up, but I'm about 15 min away and my child is hungry. I totally understand forgetting things, but the follow up interaction was horrendous. I did not receive an apology and just felt dumb when the person asked " So what do you want?" First of all, I want to state that I find nothing wrong about American Mexican food, just as I also like authentic Mexican, they are just 2 different styles. Fiesta Charra is definitely Americanized Mexican food, and not done great. Flavors were mild and plain. Not much in the way of seasoning. I had ordered the combo platter with a chalupa, chile relleno, and enchilada. Pretty much zero crispiness and it lacked flavor all around. The side of rice and refried beans, which tasted like it came from a can, followed the pattern of very little flavor. And of course some uninspired and unseasoned (wilted) shredded lettuce. Who do they even add that stuff? Much better examples of Americanized Mexican food in the Lansing area than Fiesta Charra. read more

We had an early dinner here last night. We were heading home after being in Lansing for the day and passed by this place. We turned around to stop and we are so glad we did. All of the staff were incredibly friendly. The food was oh so good. The chorizo cheese dip was so good we ordered a second order of it! Everything was spot on and could tell was made with love. Probably one of the worst Mexican restaurants I've ever been to. From the very beginning this place was crap. The chips were awful and kind of stale. Our waitress was extremely rude and made it obvious she was in more of a hurry to get away from her tables than actually serve them. The food was DISGUSTING!
