I've been an avid saltwater fisherman for about 40 years, and have found Cancuntarponfishing.com to be among the very best I've ever used. Many companies and guides (especially in touristy locations) simply go through the motions once they've got your money. Not theses guys! They really love to catch fish, and they know where the fish are, and the techniques that will catch them. Obviously, nobody can guarantee that you'll find or catch fish on any given day, but Martin (the owner) and the guide I have used for 10 years (Mauricio) have hooked me up with tarpon, snook, bonefish, jacks, snapper, and barracudas on the vast majority of my trips with them.
Note: This company is not about deep sea fishing. They are quite expert at light tackle, small boat fishing in the "back country," which appeals to hard core folks like myself, as well as people who are less experienced and don't want to troll endlessly from big boats and come up empty-handed and sea sick ;-)
The (Everglades-like) scenery alone, is almost worth the price, but catching fish makes it even better! Time of year, tides, phase of moon, time of day, and luck will play a part in your success. I recommend July, morning trips for 4 hours.
They are patient when I bring "rookies" along (see photo of my daughter who really didn't want to join me;-), and they will go to every extreme to make more experienced anglers feel like they got their money's worth, and then some. Look no further if you want to have the best possible shot at CATCHING fish (especially tarpon) in Cancun. read more
