A family member passed away last Monday, and one of Gayle's friends was very thoughtful and sent flowers from Candlelight and Roses to the house. It was a fabulous bouquet that still has beautiful "legs" several days later. We were both impressed with the variety of colors and flowers contained within the vase, and of course the kindness behind it. But! There was one key downside from this most excellent floral experience - Cats! When the vase arrived, we placed it front and center on the fireplace mantle. A few minutes later, we let the cats in from the garage, and our Boychik cat made a bee line for it and jumped up to have a sniff and a nibble. We then put it on a lower surface, which allowed both cats to enjoy (when we weren't looking), and later knock it all over. On that note, it's been hard to fully enjoy the experience with the vase either in the sink, or hidden behind closed doors at night or when we're gone. And despite of all this feline drama, are we looking forward to the next bouquet (for any reason)? Absolutely! read more

I booked this florist for my wedding. The flowers were the most important part of the decor for my wedding, so I was very clear through multiple emails and pictures what I wanted. I did not get at all what I wanted or asked for as far as color scheme goes. They were actually the exact opposite as I asked for light pastel colors and instead got deep dark colors instead. When I brought this to the attention of the owner after my wedding and presented her with the email chain and pictures, she then realized her mistake. No refund of any kind was given; however, she was nice and apologetic. Hopefully she would not ignore emails and make this mistake again in the future! We came across Candlelights and Roses at the Reno Bridal show that was held at the GSR in April, where we sampled the strawberry cupcakes which tasted heavenly and so my husband and I decided that they have to do our wedding cake. April was outstanding from the onset, she was very pleasant, warm, courteous and accommodating. She was very flexible. We told April what type of cake and flowers we wanted and they were exactly what we were looking for and more. The cake was absolutely a work of art, such craftsmanship and talent. Loved it. Not to mention the taste of real strawberries in the center of our two tiered cake with a 12" strawberry base and a 10" red velvet top. Absolutely worth every penny. We were so pleased with the service we received from Candlelight and Roses in Minden. They delivered on time, the setup was perfect , they decorated the bride and groom's table which wasn't even apart of the deal but they did it anyway. April provided a huge take away cake box (lifesaver). PS- I will be able to save my cake till my one year anniversary because I had a take away box. April went above and beyond to help us with the perfect cake topper that was last minute. We were overly impressed with the quality of the cake. It was superb, could not have asked for a better wedding cake. My bouquet was beyond beautiful, those red roses were absolutely gorgeous, everyone wanted to smell them. As a bride my top three list of things that were really important to me were cake, flowers and food!!!! I used candle light and roses at the recommendation of another vendor. I live out of the area and did most of my work with April from a distance. She was amazing! My flowers were perfect! I had a vision! I found something "close" I sent her a picture with notes on what I wanted to change. When I arrived to meet with her in person and drop off my centerpiece jars just a few days before the wedding she showed me my flowers because they had just arrived! They were stunning and EXACTLY what I dreamed of!!! When I arrived at the venue day of the wedding and saw them perfectly put together I was amazed. She is terrific at what she does! Her flowers are top quality and if you have a vision she will make it come alive. My bridal bouquet was perfect as well. It wasn't super heavy but it was large, and skillfully arranged. I kept carting it around because I really didn't want to set it down! It was the perfect compliment to my dress and was everything I wanted down to the ribbon wrap. My cabbage roses were a special request because my grandmother grew them when I was a child and it was my way of having her with me and the ones she ordered were spot in based on a description! Before deciding to order, I had met with a few other flower vendors who told me names of flowers they thought would work for my wedding and didn't care what I wanted. I decided to go with Candelight and Roses because they were pretty good at getting people in the door (after a visit at the wedding faire). We decided to go with a bridal boquet, and three brides maid boquets as well as flowers for parents, and groomsmen. The flowers were beautiful, and very vibrant but I feel as though my boquet which was a hundred dollars more than the brides maid boquets was lacking. It was almost the same size, and same flower selection. Also some of the flowers all ready looked like they were dieing. Don't get me wrong, they were still beautiful and photographed fine, but for what we paid I was expecting something more when I got my boquet. I could have just as easily went to Sparks Florest or Toms in Carson, but I would order from Candelight and Roses because they were friendly, and did still do a decent enough job to compliment the rest of the attire. read more

I found this place from here on Yelp and decided to try them out. I placed a late request for flower basket delivery late last night online. When I was choosing a basket it is required to be placed one day in advance so I have to setup the delivery date for a later date, I ended up ordering take the chance of getting it delivered late. I decided to call early in the morning (8am) today to see if I'm able to make my request of getting the flower delivered today. I believe April was her name called me back within 15-20mins after I called. Which I was surprised that the call back was fast because according to there business hours it said they are open 10a-5p. Anyways the customer service was great! April made sure that what ever I needed she took care of without hesitation! I'm very satisfied with the results on how everything got handed! It turned into much more than simply the day-of, obviously, due to the nature of pre-work and on-day work that needed to be accomplished. I own and run a small business myself, and I have very high standards for customer service, availability to clients, and honest business practices. April blew me away on every occasion. She was our day-of coordinator for the wedding, and we also hired her to handle the flowers. I cannot say enough great things about April and Candlelight and Roses. We met her when we picked out venue last summer, and before we had even seen the venue option she was already going above and beyond for us. Through the entire wedding planning process she always answered her phone, knew our wedding details off the top of her head, gave us fantastic advice about what to look for in vendors, the right questions to ask and pitfalls to avoid. She was never pushy, never tried to sell us anything and let us make all of our own decisions while providing support, guidance and great advice. By the time the day of the wedding came we were so well prepared that both my husband and I, and our families were able to fully enjoy the day without having to worry about anything. The day went smoothly, the few issues that came up she handled swiftly and without stress and we didn't even know there was an issue until it was already resolved. Friends and family all warned me ahead of time that no bride is ever fully happy with how the wedding day goes. Brides seem to know every little thing that went wrong, and wishes that at least some things had gone differently. I can truly say that looking back there was not a single thing about the wedding day that myself, my husband or my family would have changed at all. We were able to relax and enjoy the incredibly experience of a wedding, without any event-related stress at all. They were so wonderful! We didn't know exactly what we wanted or needed when we went in to talk to them about flowers for our wedding, but they were great at walking us through what we wanted and helping us find some beautiful flowers in our price range, as well as offering lots of options and pictures to help us choose the look we were going for.
