I stayed here for a week while working in the area. I'll start with the good. Although I didn't have much interaction with the front desk staff, the few times I did, they were friendly. The room was nicely furnished and had the usual amenities: a refrigerator, microwave, two‑burner stove, and a sink. The housekeeping staff was amazing. This hotel also offers free use of a washer and dryer as long as you provide your own detergent. Now for the not‑so‑good. The exercise room which is actually connected to the laundry area is also nice. Now the not so good. The mattress wasn't the most comfortable; it was a little too firm for my liking. Would give zero stars if an option. Did not honor the type of suite booked (well in advance) and no remedy for the extreme inconvenience. Traveling with my mom who has medical needs and a private space is essential. Booked two suites here and totally regret it. Would not recommend, as you likely will not get what you pay for. read more

This IS a DEPLORABLE facility. This review is for the Candlewood Suites hotel in Alexandria, Louisiana, part of the InterContinental Hotels (IHG) Group. * This is by far the worst IHG property I have ever stayed at. I am a Elite IHG member who, over many years have stayed at MANY different IHG properties. The ONLY good thing about this property is I got to escape the next day. * Major rust on all metal bathroom fixtures. * Bathroom mirror had a 2" wide strip unprofessionally glued and taped along the bottom of main mirror to COVER UP the major age spots on the mirror. * The lamp shade next to the bed was cracked several places on the main face side and on one side It looked like it may have been hit hard several times. Only 1 of 2 of this fixture's bulbs were working. * The bathroom exhaust fan was as loud as a gas powered weed eater. * The refrigerator compressor sounded like an idling large diesel truck. It rumbled on an off all night since I could not reach the power plug to turn it off. * The room air conditioner ALSO sounded like a diesel truck idling. * The TV was VERY UNPROFESSIONALLY mounted on the wall with coiled up cables, wires and cable TV box just dangling below. * The exterior of room doors (hallway side) to at least 6 other hotel rooms had golf ball sized and larger dents and rust on several as I walked down the hall. * The large full floor to ceiling windows at the entrance to the hotel were so dirty they looked like they have never been cleaned. * A LARGE house keeping trash bin overflowing with full large trash bags was parked 15' from the hotel guest elevator entrance from the early PM hours though the night and was there, full of trash, the next morning. * The long rug at the entrance to the hotel was filthy with easily visible debris. * One interior hallway corner bottom was so damaged that white sheet rock powder dusted the floor for several inches. * Why has IHG NOT inspected this property? IHG should immediately divest itself of this deplorable property. It is a DISGRACE to the other good quality and well maintained IHG properties I have stayed at. I will NEVER stay at any Candlewood Suites again and will actively tell others to do the same. read more

Check in went smoothly, and the front desk clerk greeted us with promptness and a friendly demeanor. Our room did not have a sleeper sofa as we expected. We had called prior to booking to ask if the double Queen suites also had sleeper sofas. The guy on the phone said he believed so. But that was not the case, and they did not have double Queen rooms with a pull out sofa. But the front desk clerk apologized repeatedly, explained that the man who answered the phone earlier that day was new and probably didn't know, and then she gave us extra bonus reward points for the trouble. The room was clean and comfortable, however. Checkout was very easy. We skipped breakfast as it was mostly bananas and some prepackaged danishes or something like that. But we knew ahead of time what type of breakfast they had. Overall a positive experience. After all, we booked the hotel with reward points only spending about $33! read more

We booked our hotel room directly through our IGH account over the phone days prior to our arrival date. We told them we would be checking in late due to us having evening ball games, arrived at the hotel to find out they have no room for us and none available. Front desk clerk said well i cant help you & we were on our own. I don't recommend this hotel at all! read more

Wouldn't be bad if the staff took care of the place. Trash and i cleaned in and out. No housekeeping for over a week, housekeeping staff just sitting around bs-ing all day. Bath fan didn't work, lamp was rusty and curtains look like a jiffy lube mechanic used it for a rag.. pretty sad for an IHG hotel. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place.. from the wonderful front desk staff (Ms. Elaine is a pleasure to deal with, she really goes above and beyond for you) she has been extremely helpful in every way possible. We are out here doing some storm work (Hurricane Laura) and it has been very difficult finding a hotel, let alone a decent hotel to accommodate us for the next few weeks of being here because they're all booked. The rooms are very clean, beds are comfy.. the suites are very homey.. I don't feel as though I'm in a hotel, more like a mini apartment, and the best part is that they're reasonably priced. When every other hotel in the area hiked up their prices as a result of the demand for them, it was nice to see some human decency at this location. read more

Great place to stay, clean rooms, small kitchenette stocked with coffee, bowls, utensils, plates, etc and a full size refrigerator. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only negative I have is that they would not allow me to check-in unless I gave them an email address, even though the form says I don't have to give them one. They said they needed it to email me a survey because they need more positive reviews to show their corporate offices. Forcing an invasion of privacy is NOT the way to get positive reviews and I won't be reviewing them on their corporate site because of this. The only other issues I had were that the other guests were smoking in hallways or stairwells I think because they would stink of smoke. They need to possibly designate a smoking area outside rather than having people smoke right outside the front door. Maybe an area they can sit in with tables and umbrellas. Someone kept propping open the stairwell doors which are fire doors and I think it was a staff member. These doors are to keep fire from progressing so you want to keep them closed. read more

If I knew how to make a review with 0 stars I would have done that..... I reserved a room, gave my credit card information, received a confirmation number and when I arrived they said they see my reservation but the room is not available! As if that isn't disturbing enough the Lady at the front desk is questioning me about how did I make the reservation as if I did something wrong while she is looking at my reservation and I am holding a confirmation number..... then she gets defensive using words like "they" and "them" instead of "we" and "us" as if the hotel did nothing wrong..... so as my 11 year old is sleeping in the car, 3 hours away from home "I" get turned away..... I forgot to ask her how to leave a 0 star review! read more

I stayed here recently during a work trip to Alexandria. As far as budget hotels go, this place is one of the best I've ever stayed in. The hotel itself is new so the facilities are very clean and modern. The room was quite large with a full kitchen, king bed, recliner, large desk area, and a spacious bathroom. The Wi-Fi was free and fast. There were many television stations as well (some hotels are cheap and only pay for basic cable). They also have a "pantry" area with lots of snacks and drinks available 24 hours (and the prices were decent). I will definitely stay here again the next time I am in Alexandria. read more

Very nice staff and beautiful rooms. Doesn't get much. Better for this low cost. Room is very clean, bathroom is very spacious, beds are comfy and no noise coming from any of the other rooms. Great location not far from anything you'd need. Definitely recommend staying here! read more

My experience at this hotel was OK. I arrived late at night around 11:00 p.m. and upon checking in to my Room everything looked clean and well put together I had worked a long day and had a long day ahead of me so soon as I got in the Room I underestimate hour. When I went into the bathroom to shower I noticed that there was dirt in the tub. Sometimes this can just be stains so I took a washcloth wet it and rub the side and dirt came off. I went back to the front desk to ask for a new Room and a promptly assigned me a new 1. Upon entering my new Room I did notice that the toilet bowl was dirty. I was super tired and didn't want to deal with being assigned a new Room so I just made sure I cleaned around the toilet bowl and squatted for the remainder of my stay . This is not a place of luxury, but I would say that I wouldn't be completely opposed to staying here again if no other place was available. read more

Great place to stay! I went to a concert last night at the Rapides Parish Coliseum and stayed over night at here. I recommend it.

Traveling from out of town, I read other reviews to pick the best place to stay. Glad I chose this hotel. The front desk was quick, and friendly. The room was clean, and fresh. I felt safe, and slept like a baby in the most comfortable bed ever! The room had a kitchenette, which I didn't even expect, but appreciated because I was able to keep my own snacks in the fridge. I saw that they have a full pantry down stairs in the lobby for food and snacks. I did not use it, but it was nice to know it was there if I needed it. What a wonderful place! read more
