This hotel is horrible, traveled from St Louis to Frisco TX. Stop for the night. Paid 147.00. Totally overpriced! This is a true 2 star hotel. Room had a bad odor, old and rundown. We stayed at Candlewood Suites on 12/21/2022 while traveling. Candlewood suites is animal friendly. Parking was easy, front desk customer service was just ok. The elevator to the rooms was very slow. Our room had a refrigerator, microwave, stove, dishwasher and coffee maker. The hotel has a gym and a self serve laundry area. The freezer area of the refrigerated makes small cubed ice. You will not find a big ice maker out in the hall. They have an area near the lobby where you can buy drinks and snacks (be vending machines) Our room was clean but our trash had not been emptied and still had trash in it from the last person who stayed in it. Overall it was fine for a one night stay but I feel like it's more set up for extended stays. We had our small 18 lb dog with us and the fee for our dog was $25 for the night. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Let me start by saying I love IHG , am a rewards member and try to stay at their hotels whenever I travel, but this is not like the IHG hotels I am used to. I seen two roaches, was able to kill one, but couldn't kill the other that was scurrying across the sheets of the bed onto the pillow and into the headboard area which wasn't accessible where he went. I immediately called the front desk and asked them to relocate me to another room that did not have roaches because I had flown into Dallas from California that morning, drove over three hours, worked remotely and attended my grand-daughters 1st birthday party, so I was completely exhausted and needed sleep. Kristin in an aggravated tone responded with frustration as soon as I mentioned the roaches and proceeded to tell me that all rooms were booked and she doubt she could help me, but would try to call a sister hotel to see if they had any availability. She calls back immediately apologizing for her behavior the first time on the phone and then hits me with a blow stating the sister companies did not have any availability and that she found the Hampton Inn but the rate was much higher. I told her this wasn't my fault and I should not have to pay a higher rate and that Hampton should match it. She says no they're not related to Hampton and she has no control. She then tells me to call Expedia have them rebook my room because she has now cancelled my three day stay and to please ask them to match the price. I knew this was misinformation but wanted to give her the benefit of doubt. I call Expedia and they're like no we can only issue a refund but cannot match and you will need to call Candlewood Suites back because they should accommodate you. I call Kristin back and she says "well I'm sorry we don't have anymore rooms, you will either have to pay Hampton or else because I've cancelled your room already" and I did curse and say "where the f$%k am I supposed to go, I'm from California its 12:30am and I have my just turned one year old grand baby with me" and she said "no need to curse" and I said "you're right, but I'm upset because I don't know where to go" and after I said that - I did hang the phone up on her (these are the only things that I can reflect on and assume I did wrong). Next thing you know there is a knock on my door from the Texarkana Police Department stating they are there to remove me from the room and to escort me out. I started explaining the story to them and they seemed empathetic, but they were there to do their job and I understood. I went downstairs and said to Kristin "Ma'am did I disrespect you in any way" and she said "no, but I felt this situation could possibly escalate, so I've decided to have you removed" never in life have I've been treated like this, based on an assumption. I was put out of my room with my son and one year old grandbaby at 1am and felt something bad could have happened to me at those hours. Here I was barely operating off three hours of sleep, put out of my hotel with a little one and young adult son with nowhere to go. I drove to four different hotels and all of them were sold out and finally on my fifth hotel I was told they were sold out, but I explained my story and she could see the tiredness in my face, and she said, "wait there is one suite that may be available, I'm not sure it's cleaned, but I'll go check for you." She went up to the room and seen it was clean and rented it to me. She was a life saver at that very moment. I just feel that Kristin needs to be reprimanded or extensively trained because she should have not been able to throw me out based on an assumption. I would have understood if I was belligerent or threatening, but none of that happened and she even acknowledged that to the police. I am also going to try every resource I know or have access to prevent this from happening in the near future. read more

Great place to stay for an extended amount of time. Safe area with plenty of space for your stuff inside the rooms. Place was clean and also has a checkout closet for things like crockpots, toaster, and other bigger items not located in rooms. I stayed for several days a week for about 3 months. Since staying here for 5 days, it's been one issue after another. On arrival, I went to relive myself and the toilet didn't flush. In fact, no water being fed to the toilet. Called front desk and they sent maintenance up later that day to "fix". On the third day, the fire alarm goes off at 11:00pm, just when I was about to fall asleep. Took 30 -45 mins of standing outside until they finally had the fire department give the ok to enter. Note to self-do not stay at a suite with a full kitchen if it's something you do not need. Fifth day, woke up in the morning to relive myself and again, no water being fed to toilet and once again it doesn't flush. Called desk early and sending maintenance, no show for an hour so I called again but this time someone else at the desk said maintenance hadn't shown up. Great. Fortunately this is my last day but this has been my experience so let it not be yours. There are other options in this area such as courtyard and Hilton garden. read more

10/03/2022 Brought MOLD to staffs attention had been 150ish a night for 4 weeks. Killer headaches lead to discovery of mold. So I arrive 1:30 ish from out of town. They sold the room t from under us. Had every staff stand in in room outside of room telling us to hurry up. I work and hour away had to take off early. As we're being while we're bring stuff to load outside I show the mold ridden AC unit. They Tell us it's our fault we didn't tell them sooner.... I'm guessing as in before find out there was mold we should have told them the first day.. anyways it will take more than wiping the cover with a rag. Bad business in my my opinion read more

In the last week, we've stayed at Best Western, La Quinta by Wyndham, and others but this Candlewood Suites in Texarkana tops them all as the best. Didn't have our King bed suite available but we survived just fine with two full-size beds. Finally feel pampered after a week of hell! read more

How can I explain my happiness right now?! They allow multiple pets up to 80lbs at a $25 charge per pet and offer military discount. This is great news for a suite! Nice clean room and bathroom! I have the worst experience with one member of staff I have ever had! The morning of my departure I was ready to leave to continue my journey. Before I did I took my dog for a walk, when returning to the location my key card did not work on the side door or the front door. The staff member at the front had to let me in. Once I got back to my door they keycard would not work. I went down to get a new one. The staff member at reception was extremely rude, they had no interest in helping and some what reluctantly to replaced my card. I went back up and this key also did not work. I had a feeling they had not coded it right as the door flashed red which is typical when the card is not working. I went down and asked for a replacement. Once more the staff member had no interest in helping me. I told them what was going on and they insisted the door lock was out of batteries and that I would not be able to get in until someone came and fixed it. That is all they said leaving me in the lobby with no answers. It took 20-30 mins with me repeatedly having to asked for an update only for the staff member to only tell me tell they were trying to get hold of their manager to sort it out and then later that they told me that a maintenance person was going to come out to help but they did not know when. It should be noted that during this whole time the staff member is being very dismissive, cold and with absolutely no care. After about another 30 mins the current staff member finished their shift and a new one came on, I went up to them directly and asked to try a new key. The happily complied, I went to the room and it work immediately, this infuriated me, not only because the key worked but because of how rude, dismissive and unpleasant the member of staff was when they were wrong! I now realize it was the end of their shift but this left such a bitter taste in my mouth that I will be avoiding all Candlewood location in the future and suggesting my friends do the same. As far as property goes the room was pleasant, snoring from the adjacent room could be heard all night, but not too bad. I loved that they allowed dogs but this means that there was dog feces in the hall ways, some of which was not cleaned up during my whole stay. read more

I enjoy staying at Candlewood Hotels. I always know what to expect. It is great they accept pets. I did not bring mine this time. Staff is always friendly and helpful. My room has always been ready and clean. Hotel can not control their guest, but the guest above #300 argued and threw stuff around his room from 1am till 430am. Obviously drunk. The staff was lovely but this location is extremely run down and needs to be shut down for repairs and pest control. I have stayed at other Candlewood locations and none of them were as bad as this one. To start, the put us in a room with a full size bed rather than the queen size we paid for. When we checked in they changed our room number saying the other rooms were not clean yet at 3pm. There were tons of damages in the room including a gash in the floor that was unsafe. Cock roaches and geckos were found in our room. Towels were awful material that barely dried anything and left residue where it did attempt to dry. The Elevator had a hard time running efficiently and sounded like it was breaking. There was very little in the convenient store with no sign of replenishment happening soon. Overall, this place was absolutely not worth the price and I will not stay there again. read more

It's unfortunate that most of the Candlewood suites nationwide have gone downhill so much in the last year. This one is no exception, maybe one of the worst. Their website wasn't working, so we had a call to make a reservation. Only one working luggage cart, and it has a bad wheel. Coffee machine is inoperative and no one knows when it might be fixed. The floor in our kitchen is curling up at the seams, even has chunks out of it. The staff appears to be friendly, it's unfortunate that the owners won't spend any money to maintain the property. We have stayed here numerous times in the past, but we won't be returning anytime soon. read more

My first stay at a Candlewood. I booked through Hotwire and was truly surprised at the quality of the room, bed, amenities and the helpful friendly staff. I stay overnight in Texarkana every couple of years and this has been the best place so far. I only spent one night and I understand that these properties are typically extended stay hotels. I guess that's the reason for the full size fridge with ice maker, stovetop, microwave, and dishwasher. I also enjoyed the variety of channels on their cable including the HBO package. The recliner was a nice touch too. The property also has a fitness center and free laundry. read more

I travel A LOT. Between being involved in several civic groups that travel (such as Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Daughters of the Nile, and Eastern Star), children in other States, I also travel with my work. I had an unexpected work trip come up and I needed a hotel for one night. I would be traveling alone so I wanted a hotel where the doors opened into a hallway and not out to the parking lot. I was on a tight budget and was surprised to find Candlewood in my needed price range (which for the area all other hotels were ones with doors opening to the parking lots). I called and the young lady who assisted me verified that yes the rate I was seeing online was correct, and in fact assisted me in locating an even better rate for the night! I arrived to the hotel and was greeted promptly and courteously and my check-in process was quick and simple, even with the young man being in training (he told me he was in training, and standing beside him was another employee who commented that he was doing excellent). I went to my room and was amazed at what I saw. I thought for my dollars I would be getting what most places call a "standard room" (i.e. bed, chair, desk, mini-fridge if lucky, microwave, and coffeepot) but nope... it was a suite. A kitchenette with a full size refrigerator, 2 burner stove, microwave, coffee pot, fully stocked kitchen ware for 2 persons, queen bed, a HUGE recliner chair, office desk/chair, dresser, and decent sized television that could be seen from any part of the room. It was truly a "home away from home". The bathroom was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable, and I loved the pillows (wish I could find them to buy for my home!). My check out experience was just as smooth as the check-in process. I wish I had gotten the names of the persons who I had contact with but I failed to do so, I wish I had so that could send a note to the manager giving their staff the kudos they deserve. I only got glances at the gym and laundromat but what I saw was pretty impressive, not the typical "we have a treadmill and bike and a few weights so we can call it a gym". The gym has several pieces of workout equipment and the laundromat had several washers and dryers available. One thing I thought was a great idea was the "lending locker". Forgot your phone charger? No problem, borrow one! They had chargers, HDMI cables, headphones, board games, puzzles, movies and DVD players (just to name a few things that I remember seeing). They had a small 'convenience store" that had things from common personal care items you might forget (brushes, toothbrushes, shavers/shave cream, etc) to simple snacks (usual assortment of things you would find in a vending machine plus things like icecream, cookies, etc). The thing that I really noticed was the prices; nothing was "stupid crazy" priced. Yes, they were slightly more than if you went and found a Walmart or similar store but they weren't "lets charge 5x the retail value" like so many other hotels do (example: Toothbrush and toothpaste travel set that you can get for $1.50 at Walmart was $2). So I must say I was VERY impressed and should I need a hotel in Texarkana again will be staying here! read more

If I would have stayed here just overnight, I probably would have given this place a 4 or 5, but unfortunately the flaws mounted up over time. Stayed four days in a suite. Pros - Very nice and friendly staff; Big room; pretty comfortable bed (8/10); nice to have two TVs and different options to sit on; nice setup if you want to have small private business meetings in your room.; Lots of convenient and easy-to-reach plugs; Heating and cooling worked fast and didn't need to keep cycling. Meh - spartan but serviceable toiletries; water pressure was fairly low (4/10); fridge was pretty noisy; bit of burnt plastic smell when you run the heat; the store they have instead of vending machines is a bit overpriced, much like vending machines, and the selection is not much better. Cons - Had to kill a bunch of bugs in my room starting from day one - mosquito, spider, some small thin silver bug, this is a big pet peeve with me; this place is just as pricey as nearby suites that offer free breakfast and daily housekeeping and are also very new; poor to fair sound insulation - I could hear enough highway traffic noise to make it somewhat difficult to get to sleep (in fairness, I can tell they tried to put in some soundproofing, but the hotel is very close to the freeway, and I've stayed at similarly located hotels that had better soundproofing), TV from room next to me, and talking and doorbells in the hall; Wi-Fi was painfully slow most of the time. The hotel also got notably more noisy towards the weekend - worse Wi-Fi, more middle of the night door slamming, loud talking in the halls and out in the parking lot (which I could hear even on the 4th floor). But overall, the hotel was acceptable and I would consider staying again. Not specific to this hotel, but the trend of hotels in Texarkana in general - why are these hotels so much more expensive than similar hotels in Little Rock, when Little Rock offers so much more? I guess it must be the lack of competition since it's so far to Dallas or Little Rock and all these new hotels went up about the same time. I am a ex-local and I needed to be local for personal business, but if I were looking for a regional vacation, I would take my business to Hot Springs or Little Rock and get more value from my lodging. read more

Here for work and it's your typical candlewood. The only downsides so far are the broken doors so you have to either enter the front or one side, mildly annoying and the heater in the room runs every 5 minutes and is loud. Other than they it's quiet. read more

My husband and I are Elite IHG members and travel all over the U.S. Staff was very friendly, but rooms were filthy, dishes and pans dirty, roach in bathroom drawer, no bar soap or toiletries in bathroom, no regular coffee, no spoons, no dish soap. Kitchen floor was dirty upon entering my room and poor lady at front desk had to come sweep it since cleaning staff leaves at 2pm whether done or not. I reserved a two room suite on July 1 for a one night stay on July 3 through Candlewood's website. At 5 PM on July 3 when I was approximately 15 minutes from the hotel I received a phone call saying there was 2 room suite available and hadn't been for months. I was told I did't receive a call earlier in the due because they didn't want to upset me. i can't believe they waited until it was the very last second to notify me my room wasn't available. Even the day ahead would have been fine and given me time to find another option. They did offer a regular room at discounted price though this was too little too late. read more
